Day 6: Pool/Epcot/AK
I woke up pretty early this day. I dont remember and didnt note down the exact time, but I was worried about my MIL and had a hard time falling back asleep whenever I would wake up. Finally when I noticed that it was getting light out, I got out of bed and decided to take a walk around POP. I left Payton and Craig in the room sleeping (Craig had a hard night too) and took the camera with me. I headed over to the food court and got a coffee and just kind of wandered around. I really enjoyed Hourglass Lake at that time of day. It was beautiful and the animals were all out. I guess because there are not too many people out at that time, so they are not scurrying away. Anyways, it was very peaceful and nice. Here are some of the pictures that I took:
I went back to the room and Craig and Payton were starting to wake up. We got ready and headed down for breakfast at Classic hall. I bought some bread and we headed over to Hourglass Lake again so Payton could feed the turtles the bread.
I also took a few pictures of her on Generation Gap Bridge:
Craig wasnt feeling well, I think because he did not get very much sleep and was worried about his Mom. So, he went back to the room to lie down and Payton and I headed to the pool for a swim. After a lengthy swim (I was trying to keep Payton out of Craigs hair so he could get better) we headed back to the room and got ready to head to Epcot for the Princess Storybook Lunch at Akershus Hall. This was a fantastic meal. We all loved it! The character interaction was great. Payton got to meet Snow White, Cinderella, Bell, and Ariel. She had the Mickey shaped ravioli and thought that was really neat. We had a lot of fun at this one.
Once lunch was over we took off to Animal Kingdom. This was our favorite park! Even Craig liked this one. He does not want to go back to Disney, but he would like to go back to Animal Kingdom.
Payton met Goofy and Donald Duck:
We were going to go meet Mickey and Minnie, but Payton said that she had already met them and wanted to go see the animals, so we skipped them. We went to Africa first. Kilimanjaro Safari was first and it was great:
There was this ostrich that would not get out of the road.
Craig thought that it was so cool that he could have reached out and toughed the rhino if he wanted to.
Craig also really likes elephants so he liked seeing them:
Then it was the Pagani Forest. I liked this one. Craig and I both really like hippos and this one liked to swim by Payton a lot.
I also liked the Meerkats. They are so funny.
Gorillas are one of my favorite animals and I could have spent all day watching these guys:
Finally Craig dragged me away and we went to get the train to Rafiki Planet watch. Craig and Payton did not like the train ride. You sit sideways facing out and that is not good for those that have motion sickness. They survived though. Here Payton got to meet Jiminy Cricket:
Rafiki was there, but she again said that she had already met him and did not need to again. Then we spotted a display. They had a Blue Tongued Skink out for people to touch and learn about. I did not think that Payton would do it, but I underestimated her and she got right into it. The man gave her a button that said I touched a Blue Tongued Skink
Next was Asia:
The Maharajah Jungle Trek was my all time favorite. I have an obsession with Tigers. We must have spent over an hour looking at them and me trying to get the best shot of them. I was mesmerized:
Payton was hungry at this point so we went to get her dinner at Yak and Yeti. She liked it and we got to take a foot rest after all that walking.
I checked the line up for Kali River Rapids, but it was 50min. We decided that none of us wanted to go on that much, so we kept moving.
Tough to Be a Bug was next!!!!! I love all the carvings on the Tree of Life and tried to take as many pictures as I could. This is my favorite:
We were all tired at this point and decided to go back to POP. We waited what felt like forever for the bus back. I saw 5 busses for the Grand Floridian arrive before our bus arrived for POP. We were all getting grumpy and our feet were sore.
Once we got back to POP Craig and Payton went to the room while I headed to the food court. Craig and I had not eaten dinner so I got the Chicken Caesar Salad. It was sooo good. Payton fell right asleep and Craig and I packed up our stuff for the next day. I am so glad that I thought to bring an extra Backpack.
