August 2008

August 13-22
Me, DW, DD(8) - second trip for us, SIL(30) - first trip and first time on plane for her.
POP Century, Park Hoppers, Water Parks, DDP

I have been to Disney World 5 times, and my DH and DS (2) have never been there. We are going in August 2008, and I am planning EVERYTHING to the last detail. I was wondering about a few things though---

1. We are going for 4 days, 3 nights --- is it worth adding the Disney Meal Plan to my vacation package?

2. I have a two year old, would purchasing Pal Mickey be worth it?

I cannot wait my husband and I email eachother from work everyday on how many days we have left till our trip!!!!:wizard: princess:

We are leaving in 78 days...August was not my IDEAL time to go but DD9 is performing (along with her dance team) at Magic Kingdom's Galaxy Place Theatre on August 12th! The whole family is supper excited to say the least

Ooo DH and I will be there at MK Aug 12th! Is this a ticketed event or can anyone see it? What time? I would LOVE to see them perform. What kind of dance is it?

No...its not a ticketed event...anyone in the park can watch! We don't have a time yet that they are performing but it is at the Galaxy Place Theatre which is in Tomorrowland (between Buzz's SRS and Carousel of Progress).

The team consists of about 35 or 40 girls and 2 boys all between the ages of 7 and 17. They do tap, jazz, acro, hip hop, ballet & musical theatre. They compete throughout Ontario and have won numberous awards...hence they got selected to perform for the Magic Music Days program. They have not finalized the routine yet but I assume it will be mostly jazz with a bit of tap, acro and hip hop included. When you arrive at the park just check out the days performers and look for a Canadian team performing at the Galaxy Place Theatre...I'm sure we will be the only Canadians that day!:dance3:

From one dance mom to another-YooHoo! Congratulations and good luck! Have you checked out the official dance Mom thread in the community board?

1. Check out the dinning boards and allearsnet.com for restaurant menus. Figure out which restaurants you will be eating at and then do the math to figure out if the dinning plan is worth is for you.

2. IMO a Pal Mickey is not worth it for a two year old. The purpose of a pal mickey is to tell you facts about WDW. Buy a regular stuffed Mickey for now.

74 more days for us. We are flying DD, SIL and GS down from Wisconsin to meet the three of us at Beach Club!
Can't wait.
:cool1: :woohoo: :cool1: :cheer2:  :yay:

My daughter and I are so excited about our trip! I don't know how many times we've watched Samantha Brown in the Travel Channel at Disney World. We're constantly talking about what we're going to do this time around. I/we love Disney so much. It makes me feel young!

Sorry for the outburst... I couldn't help it!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

P.S. Has anyone ever been on a Disney Adventure? Is there a thread somewhere in here for it?

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

We're excited too. If I'm not mistaken, there's a whole board for Adventures by Disney, if that's what you're asking about.

We will be in Disney the same week you are. We aren't getting park hoppers and Aug 12 is not a MK day. How many days will there be performances? DD14 is into dance and not into Disney. Maybe this will help get her excited .

Thanks for the link! I just read some TRs and now I'm planning an Adventure to Costa Rica for me and my DH. Sooo, Aug. 5-11 for me and my DD, Dec. is a short 3 day cruise for me and a friend. Costa Rica next year, and 2010 is my middle daughter's 18th bday, and she wants to go back to WDW. I just love the magic... :wizard:

Unfortunately this is a one day event for us. The kids will be doing other workshops and master classes but nothing that is public. I'm not sure what other groups will be performing over the course of the week though.

Mom and I are going without the husbands Aug 3-9! I'm celebrating my 30th on 8/15, she celebrates her 60th 7/30, and we're going to wear our b-day buttons proudly all week!

Even more exciting- especially to Mom- is that we're staying on the monorail at the Poly. We're going to eat in Mexico, ride ToT, flirt with Jack Sparrow, and generally behave like 10 year olds together. We CAN'T wait!

Me and my best friend will stay at AsSp from Aug 12th until 16th:hyper: . This will be our first real trip to WDW! I keep watching the Top 7 must-sees over and over again:happytv: :dance3: Only 73 more days!

:rotfl: Call me crazy, but Port Orleans resorts called to me, so I called our travel agent and she changed us over to Riverside. At least there I will have a coffee maker (MUST HAVE COFFEE!!! :surfweb: ) and a fridge. And it really wasn't that much more!

YEAH! The ticker says we only have two months and one day left!! :rotfl:

I have now switched my resort for the third time. Originally we were booked at the Swan, but with there being 8 of us flying in, I wanted ME. So, I switched to AKL (2 rooms pool view), well as I was checking the prices, I switched to OKW- 2 bedroom Villa for almost the same price and then after the 2 nights in a 2-bedroom we switch to a GV at OKW for a week. Since we are traveling with 6 boys ages 17 & 18 years old for their high school graduation, I was concerned about how we were going to transfer all the luggage and their golf clubs. This will make the transfer to the GV so much easier. :faint: :faint: I guess AKV will have to wait until next year!!:thumbsup2

We will be going Aug.26 - Sept.2. Staying at the poly. Usually visit during the off season but it's a surprise to the kids. Free dining going on also! Excited about going-but don't want to wish away the summer!!!:goodvibes
