Andy I'm beginning to see the "sadistic" side of you :)
Wait til poor Emmasgrammy is enroute from Pa then "out" her like that :)
When we were at Typhoon Lagoon this March and we were going down the family slide I told my wife the story. We were killing ourselves laughing. Now we get to see her re-enact it for all the ship to see on the Mickey Slide :)
Photos available at Shutters.

Also, a big thanks for the WDW postcards, and the other little gifts for Hazel, we were very touched that you thought of us on your trip this past weekend.

Hey Susan have you spoken to Janice recently about how many rooms we will be taking? We seem to have a few new people on our cruise, maybe some info about our group at the H.I. San Pedro would be helpful to them...Mark
Okay, for those new to our ever growing thread here :) my TA is currently working with the Holiday Inn San Pedro to book rooms for us on August 19, 2005 (the night before we sail on the repo cruise) ... some folks are staying for several nights before the cruise as well.

Right now our group is the ONLY GROUP able to book more than a year out :hyper: But starting Aug 19, 2004 anyone can call and book a room (but not for as cheap).

The group rate we are getting is $89 (I believe taxes are extra). This also includes a continental breakfast the next morning.

Last I heard from Janis (before she took off for some R&R at WDW) our group had already booked 20 rooms ... and the hotel has a grand total of 60 rooms ... we're already at 1/3 of the hotel capacity ;)

Anyway, if anyone is interested in booking a room with our group, please email Janis at jltraveldreams@cs.com Off the top of my head I cannot remember what information Janis needs, so email her and give her a good email addy and phone number she can reach you at. :teeth: She'll let you know what she needs.

For folks flying into LAX or Long Beach we're going to see what we can find out about airport shuttles (and what they cost) to the HI in SP.

Also the hotel says they can arrange transfers from the hotel to the cruise terminal at $3 per person.

And they say they have a shuttle for a nominal fee to Disneyland too.

Whereabouts in Palo is the bar? I have never noticed it when we have eaten in there?

The Holiday Inn sounds like a great location but there doesn't seem to be a pool there based on their web site. I'd really like to stay where there is a pool so the kids can swim or can play in the ocean. Is my info correct about this Holiday Inn?

Kathy

The Bar area is on the right hand side just past the main entrance. It is usually empty but I'm sure when we will be sailing they will have to add a few more stools!LOL

I know that they are very accommodating at Palo! On our January cruise I could not finish my Chocolate Souffle but my server would not have any of that, so she spoon fed me until it was all gone! There are pics but luckily they have not been posted!LOL

Jason, I think I like your idea of champagne and souffle!

Have a great day everybody, here it is raining! YUCK!

Kathy,

They do have a pool. I know they didn't list it on their own website (don't know why) :confused3: but if you look at
here and put in info of Pan Pedro hotels, you will see the HI and they even have a picture of the pool also. I know my kids would want to swim too!! Heck, even the adults probablry want too, we DISboard will take up the whole pool!! LOL!!!:hyper:

Holiday Inn is a part of ICHOTELS now.
If you go to the actual Holiday Inn's Corporate site the description of the San Pedro Hotel is as follows......

At first glance, the Holiday Inn® San Pedro-Los Angeles Harbor gives the impression of a historical landmark. The hotel was actually built in 1986, and then renovated in 2001. The hotel has today's convenience and yesterday's charm, with the flavor of a unique European hotel. Club 111 restaurant and Lounge is on the premises for your enjoyment. Our sparkling pool and Jacuzzi are here for your relaxation.Holiday Inn® San Pedro-Los Angeles Harbor is conveniently located at the south end of the Harbor (I-110) Freeway, and is in the heart of the Port of Los Angeles. The hotel is less than 1 mile from the Los Angeles World Cruise Center. Special cruise packages are our specialty. Long Beach Convention Center, the Queen Mary, and the Aquarium of the Pacific are just 6 miles each. Los Angeles International Airport is 18 miles away.

Cheers,
Grumbo

Emmasgrammy: What a funny story. Thank you for sharing. I can relate.

Palo: Chocolate souffle and champagne. Now that is my kind of evening! ::yes::

Good morning, or almost noon time to all.

Well, things are starting to quiet down here on our little thread. Is that a good thing?

I am all for souffle and champaigne. Also LI Iced tea on the deck, and conch coolers on CC.

Not that I plan on drinking.............................

I am so happy right now :teeth: Finding it hard to work. For those who didn't know, I had some problems with my reservations which ended up costing us $500 more than it should have (not the 10% discount issue). Ultimately, I sent a letter to DCL in hopes of getting things straightened out. They handled things wonderfully and I now will be in a category 6 room, 6590! I was to the point of either canceling all of our Disney vacations or being miserable. Now I can just be happy and relieved!!

By the way, while I was talking to one of the senior managers, asked her if she was familiar with the DIS board. She said yes. I told her we had a group over 400 bringing the Magic home. She was amazed at the number. She said that was amazing with 2400 total guests that we had a group this large.

Way to go twhipple!! :)
Now you have $500 to donate towards the "Jazz/Grumbo Zinfandel Fund". ;)

Cheers,
Grumbo

Hey wait a minute!!

Who knows, maybe now that a DCL higher up knows how many of us will be there, maybe they'll find this thread and give each of us our own bottle! Ok, the note from DCL will say "in honor of the DISboards, here is a bottle of Zinfandel for you to enjoy" with the fine print saying your onboard account will be charged $40 for each bottle received :teeth:

Or maybe one more bottle to split 410 ways! Hey those with children are lucky, they get more wine. Maybe I have to scrounge up a few kids! Forget about saving $500!!

I'm in the process of learning a new program at work and I have not even signed on at work! One Good Thing, the programmer has promised to teach my boss how to use it!LOL Good Luck to him!

I was expecting a whole lotta pages to read!

Congrats twhipple! That is awsome that they did the right thing!

Off to do a little Disn'

Reneé,

Hey Congrats twhipple! Now that's more spending money for drinks!

Hopefully the spend it all on our October Cruise...

Thanks everyone! I haven't been able to work a whole lot today. I've been beaming from ear to ear:teeth:

I will likely have a few more drinks now, maybe share a few with my close friends :p One of the nicest things is that it's all resolved, I'm happy about Disney again, more chatty than normal ::yes:: , and I can cancel my second reservation and get my deposit back. I guess since I paid it that would mean even more savings! Bring on the wine :drinking1

The big thing is that we had a limit for what price we would pay and the price we now ended up with is only $65 more than our max. So we upped our max. You do what you gotta do!

oh and Pétér you better be really nice if you want me to spend my "saved" money on the October cruise!

There is absolutely no way I can catch up after a week's vacation in Nags Head, N.C. & you all say the board has "SLOWED DOWN"!!!!:crazy2: I had a great vacation in the Outer Banks. The weather was perfect:sunny: and now on Saturday I am off to the Poconos! When I get a week or two I will try to catch-up.

Hope everyone is healthy, happy & getting more excited every day:jumping3: Have a great Friday & weekend. Toodles, :wave2: :earsgirl: JEANNE:earsgirl:
