$900 is actually on the cheap side for an underwater housing! ;) My guess is that you were looking at an Ikelite or another well-known manufacturer of hard underwater housings. I would love to get one for my D70 but it would set me back $1200 and I just don't think I'd get that much use out of it!

Anyway, Ewa-Marine is actually a reputable source for the "underwater bags". I've never used one myself but have looked at them from time to time. Here are a thread from <a href=http://www.dpreview>DPReview</a> on the subject:

http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1018&message=12587463

Also, check out www.wetpixel.com . This site is dedicated to underwater photography. They have a forum dedicated to digital camera underwater housings. http://wetpixel.com/forums/index.php?showforum=1

It's a lot to sift through but I'm sure you'll get some great info.

Jenny, stay calm. He may never show up again. I on'y ever had that experience with contractors, not employees. Amazing that people have such a disregard for a companby that hired them to work. Maybe he knows the other guy, and got his excuse list!

I'm calm. I just think it's funny. Everyone here is "scared" of me - don't suffer the wrath of Iffer (that's what they call me 'cause there's no Iffer in my name). They think I scared him. I tried to be good yesterday. Honest. :rotfl2:

He actually called a second time while I was at lunch and talked to someone else and said he went to the vet for his cat and was on his way to the office when he started throwing up...a lot, so he went back home and called and asked if we wanted him to come in anyway. Ummmm....no. Keep your diseased self home. We just got rid of the last bug that was here. I have faith he'll be here tomorrow (or maybe the next day). He's worked for us before on Co-op with the local high school Vo-tech program, so we kind of know what kind of kid he is, plus most of the people here know is mom really well.

Please add us to the "cliff diver" night excursion list. Stan and I will definately bring Sandy. So there will be 3 of us.

This trip is really starting to feel "real"!

I did no such thing! I don't even talk about the cruise. They just don't understand how two adults with no children can go to Disney and go on DCL so many times and not be bored. They just don't get it.... :rotfl2:

Jenny, that's just like people I work with. What is wrong with these people?? I don't even try to explain myself anymore. My boss is going to Orlando for 2 weeks with her children (Brits usually do 2 weeks holiday at a time especially across the pond) in May, and I dread her coming home, because she is one of those people who don't get it. She will be even more scathing of me if she doesn't enjoy it. But, that will be her loss.

Pam

My cousin was doing my hair yesterday and was explaining I go to Disney too much. Of course in my defensive mode I listed all of the states I've visited recently.

She doesn't get it. I think she is mad at me because my hair is too light in color!

Looking at what you've shown is really a "universal bag" for different types of cameras. I know I looked for my small digital and it was around $280. It was made by Canon for my specific camera. The Sony you have is an odd shaped configuration, which makes it much more difficult to make a waterproof case, looking at the photos of it.

I tend to agree with Robin. I'd sure want something that is foolproof, and guaranteed that if it craps out on you your $1000 camera is covered.
I think I'd probably only go for an actual "Sony" brand waterproof housing if there is one out there specifically made for your DSC-F828. I looked on the Sony site and could only find them for the smaller point and shoots. Good luck.

Cheers,
Grumbo

Yes it is an odd shape camera. I went to the Sony website first and like you found nothing. That's when I did some searching and came up with these.

Kmiles - I know that some of the cases cost more than $900. But like you I'm figuring that I won't be using it that much to justify that expense.

Thanks for the links you posted. I'm checking them out now.

Thanks you guys. I knew you'd be able to help me with this.

People stopped asking me when I worked, my license plate was ILUVWDW, I had all sorts of Mickey parafanalia on my desk and in my cubicle. They knew when I was going on vacation, that I was probably going to WDW, I did trick them once and went to DL! I even got to go to 5 of the Disney Institute Manament Seminars, I had a nice boss then!

It is way too nice to be inside, but I do have the windows wide open. It was actually warmer here yesterday than at the Swalphin Weather Cam.

They just don't get it. They don't understand how we can go to WDW so many times (5/2000, 9/2001, 9/2002, 12/2003, 5/2004, 10/2004 & 12/2004). They don't get why we'd spend the money to fly to Florida for a long weekend either. There's nothing close enough to us to do a long weekend that would be anywhere near as much fun as we have doing Disney stuff.

Even my MIL is like that. She says "it must be nice to have that kind of money". But she's the one retiring at 53. I'm sure she'll have to find something to do to make some money the way she spends it.

This was not the River Rafting Alternative excursion offered by JGE. It was, in fact, the members of the "Sisterhood" attempting to do their laundry excursion. As you can plainly see, WinoTracy and MickeyFan1 (Marsha's holding the oar) are setting up the spin bucket, Denverval's bringing the rinse bucket over and Sandy is busy telling Perdita to stay FOCUSED on the chore. (We've heard from Pongo that Perdita sometimes has issues with staying focused). Off camera we have the rest of the 'gals' sorting and prepping the laundry.

I'm thinking about buying a cheep (about 100) underwater digital camera. I still have to decide, but it looked like a decent camera. I've got another which doesn't hold as many pics and i'm thinking if we have 2 we can give Lindsay one to use. I would then take that one to the waterpark etc. where I was worried about being splashed, and then i wouldn't have to worry as much.

Wow! We are approaching 2 milestones for this thread...1,000 pages and 15,000 posts!

Hope everyone is enjoying the weather as much as we are here in NY, 80 degrees and :sunny:, with a nice breeze.

Finally, best wishes to Melinda, Kathy and anyone else with family concerns.

Paul

Thanks again for the well wishes. Dad is out of surgery and recovery. We are lucky that they could use the scope instead of opening him up. He's in some pain which should be better tomorrow.

Hi Kathy,

I'm glad to hear your dad was able to have his surgery via laparoscopy. That will be better for recovery. That being said, it's still surgery and wishing him a speedy and healthy recovery. Tell him to remember that you only have one time to recover. If he gets out and about too soon, he could cause himself adhesions which cause more pain in the future. That being said, he needs to make sure to move too. Bet you already know this. Do some good things for yourself too, it's been a rough few days for you.

Prayers and pixie dust continued for your dad and all of you!

Barbara :grouphug:

Hey, Bob abnd I are in chat all alone!!!

Kathy, I had my appendix out in 03 with the scope. DOne on Friday and back to work Monday. I hope your Dad heals well and quickly

:cat:

Kathy-Glad all went well with your Dad. Had my Gall Bladder out 20+ years ago and have the scar to prove it. But the recovery went quite quickly, had it out on Wednesday helped an old friend move on Saturday. Piece of cake. But pixie dust for your Dad, tell him to stay out of the garden. At least till the MD tells him it's okay.

Weather here beautiful 80+! :sunny:

Jenny- the day care senters seem to have this problem fairly frequently. Something about taking care of large numbers of small children. :teeth: Every so often we'll hire someone and they make it thru the first day and we never see them again.

Estelle :rolleyes2

I know a lot of people I work with are childish, but I wouldn't consider them children.... :rotfl2:

I promise I was good yesterday. Honest. I was....the worst thing I said was that one of the guys I work with probably didn't have much to worry about seeing when he was putzing around in the bathroom with the door open (he was brushing his teeth).

Continued PD - Kathy ... :grouphug:

I forget who posted -- but where can you get a decent underwater camera - digital under $ 100 ? Just wondering since we already have the disposables for this cruise - but it sounds like a good idea. :Pinkbounc
