A guy runs into the bar and says, "Quick, pour me 5 shots of your best scotch." The bartender pours them and the man drinks them as fast as he can. "Wow that's the fastest I've seen anyone drink," says the bartender. "Well you'd drink that fast if you had what I had," The man says "Oh my god," the bartender says, "What do you have?" The man replies "50 cents."

Reaching the end of a job interview, the Human Resources Officer asked a young Engineer fresh out of MIT, "And what starting salary were you looking for?"

The Engineer replies, "In the region of $125,000 a year, depending on the benefits package."

The interviewer enquires, "Well, what would you say to a package of 5-weeks vacation, 14 paid holidays, full medical and dental, company matching retirement fund to 50% of salary, and a company car leased every 2 years say, a red Corvette?"

The Engineer sits up straight and says, "Wow! Are you kidding?"

And the interviewer replies, "Yeah, but you started it."

Still waiting to hear from DU, I am impatient, but they are working on my request. I have a headache from this!

50 cents, ha!!!! That is a good one.

Off to Ace hardware so I can get the outlets recovered in the kitchen.

Later, dudes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Damage on decks 9 and 10 - that must have been one HUGE wave! Seeing the stories on TV brought back memories of the boards during hurricane season last year - even with the generous compensation package NCL is giving people are whining all over.

I hope the the Coast Guard does an investigation - if the Dawn was sailing into trouble they should tell us and NCL should take appropriate action. If it was a true freak of nature, then NCL should be applauded for quick action.

Barbara, thanks for your good wishes. I'm going to treat myself to a long soak in a hot tub, give myself a pedicure and lay in bed all evening watching what I like on TV. This will be my special treat for today.

Andrew, thanks for the info on tux hire. I sent them an e-mail yesterday asking if they can hire from LA into Port Canaveral. I haven't heard from them, yet, I don't suppose anyone else knows this? Allan hired from them 2 years ago and they were excellent.

Jenny, where have you been? Seems like ages since we had some jokes from you. I've missed you.

Pam

Allan, What do you mean, you don't often laugh out loud at the boards. When you sit at the PC behind me, and you are laughing out loud, what the hell are you looking at? You told me it was the DISBoards? You could be in trouble when you get home!!

I've been here, just not posting. Not much to say and I've been pretty busy. DH is moving his office into a new building, so we've been working on that, plus it's been super nice weather here (70 degrees and sunny yesterday). I'll try to keep up with my joke posting... :rotfl2:

I'm not sure he should be in too much trouble. At least he's laughing at what he sees on the 'net and not doing anything else ;) .

FYI . . .

Last month I sent an email to DCL inquiring why they gave us an overnight in Acapulco but neglected to schedule any excursions for late afternoon or early evening. Here is the response I got:

"Acapulco is an extremely popular vacation destination and we feel that the additional time there will provide for a great guest experience.

The excursions currently available for booking are based upon the time frame that both the May 14, 2005 and the August 20, 2005 voyage will be in Acapulco. Our pre-booking options may not reflect our final offerings for the eastbound voyage, as we are currently evaluating the possibility of
adding additional offerings for that sailing. Should additional offerings be added, they will only be available to reserve once onboard.

We always appreciate being made aware of our guests' impressions, as they help us maintain the level of quality and service that our guests have come to expect from Disney. We look forward to the chance to sail with you later this summer."

Which means:
We haven't got a clue what we are going to do with you guys for an extra 12 hours, but hopefully we'll come up with something by August 24th!

Pam - I called Cruiseline Formalwear on the phone this morning. Yes, they are renting for the 14-day Disney repo cruises. It is the same price as a 7-day ($85), since it is not a back-to-back 14-day - lucky us on the price break! You can reserve now online and it will go into a holding file, but you cannot book over the phone yet because they will not have the August sailings in their system for another month.

I found my formal gown yesterday at the Talbot's Outlet (brick & mortar store)! Yippee!! It's sleeveless, sheer burned-velvet, part silk, flounce at the bottom in a dusty rose color. $198 originally, marked $54 and then 50% off of that. Final price $27!!

I also nabbed a Tommy Bahama beach coverup (I needed one) in a cotton gauze fabric. $88 originally, marked $34 and then 50% off. Final Price $17!!

God I love this outlet store (that's 5 minutes from my house)!! Thank you Lori (Tinkerbel129) for turning me on to it!!

Tracy - can't wait to shop there with you (and Bill) when you come down to Chicago!!

Anyone else up for a Midwest DIS/SOF Meet on Friday, April 29th???

My feelings exactly

(Sure wish they would give up the overnight and just add another port -- if anyone from DCL is reading this -- hint hint) :rolleyes1 :listen:

Well, the COP is official. My mother will be joining me. She is making her air reservations as I type. If any of you have a line on valium, please let me know. I will need it by day 5!!!!! But she isn't staying in the world after.

Mark, can I get another seat on the bus? If not, no worries, I will get a town car to pick us up at the port.

Let's see, we already have an "in" with a local who knows where the good bars are. Seems to me we can make our own fun. :cool1: :cool1: Anyone up for the Ship of Fools pub crawl?

Val, thank you so much for Brianne's gift!! You are so right!! SHE LOVES IT!! How the heck did you get that??? I think Brianne e mail to Rachel this morning, if not, she will this afternoon.

Go to insuremytrip.com and you will get lots of competitive prices.

Mel, make sure you check on all "pre-existing" clauses before you get the insurance. The last thing you want to happen is to get the insurance and then find out you aren't covered. Some of the companies it depends on treatment at the time you get the insurance (which is what we had with Access America through DCL). When my dad died and I needed to go home, he died from something he wasn't actively being treated for at the time we got the insurance so it was covered.

Lanyards!!!!! Please include your DIS ID either on your MO, or on a note when you send payment. I have had 2 in the last week that did not have that. I like to send a PM back when I get the money. Although the last 2 were semi easy to figure out, the one that came today via certified mail is gonna be interesting. If you are the DISer in Nevada that sent me the MO certified, PLMK your DIS ID!!!!

Mel, I got insurance through DCL just now, but Kathy is right, there are a lot of words about pre existin conditions. So do your homework.

I just snagged this off a post from the "Live from the Magic" thread....sounds interesting.....

The Bumblequats (love that word) are here tonight....(Yes Herc is gone!!) There are two groups doing a practice (closed) for the new shows (Cinderella) and heard a murder-mystery show is being produced for the pass western REPO cruise. That was direct from the director today at the behind the magic talk. He said they are in pre-production for a 3 day ongoing murder mystery show to potentially debut on the REPo and go from there.
