Got my new toy on Tuesday -- finally purchased a new camcorder -- picked out the Panasonic PV-GS250 - 3CCD lens. Description is below

This Panasonic PV-GS250 3CCD MiniDV Camcorder is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand, but isn't short on innovative features. Equipped with a 3CCD imaging system, high-powered digital still capability and ease of use, this new digital video camera delivers high-quality digital still and moving images for the novice and expert videographer alike.

This top-of-the-line camcorder incorporates the same type of 3CCD imaging system used in Panasonic’s celebrated professional camcorders. Individual CCDs are used to reproduce the red, green and blue colors that compose an image for vivid, true-to-life pictures with remarkable depth and presence. The PV-GS250 also features the sophisticated Leica Dicomar lens, which has become known for its ability to capture and finely render the most delicate nuances of light and shade.

High-resolution digital still images can be captured via the model's built-in digital still camera feature, which records to a stamp-sized SD Memory Card. The 3.1-megapixel PV-GS250 features a 10x telescopic optical zoom lens, a 700x digital zoom that allows for amazing 700:1 clear, close-ups from wide angle to full telephoto zoom and a Macro Zoom feature, which lets users shoot extreme close-ups at distances as near as 16 inches.

Transferring recorded video to a PC is also quick and easy via the USB port included. The PV-GS250 supports USB2.0 High Speed enabling real time video transfers and has miniDV outputs to maximize compatibility with the PC. The PV-GS250 uses Optical Image Stabilization, which intuitively compensates for any hand movement, so that every shot if beautifully crisp and clear

Weight 1 lb. 1 oz -- Should fit nicely into the Disney camera waistbag they sell a the the parks.

List Price - $ 1000.00 -- and B&H is also listing it at $ 1000 too! But -- doing a price search - found it at PC Connection -- for $ 823. --- so since our office does a lot of business with that firm talked to our business account manager there -- and he took more money off of it - and shipped it overnight for $12 (price of reg. ground shipping) -- no tax either ! Definetly joining in on the accessory shopping ! Need some filters etc... for the new baby :bounce:

We are researching camcorders as well. Thank you for that post. Has anyone else researched into camcorders lately?

Pam, I don't sneak at getting my husbands change. I just DEMAND the change be turned over to me. We have saved all of our change since 2000 for all of our cruises. Since our last cruise in Oct 2004, we have managed to save 200.00 towards this one.

We have always saved our change from trip to trip, daughter included (now that she's working). Everyone is required to empty their pockets and wallets of all change every week and dump it into a big Crayola Crayon bank we have in the hallway. We've been saving since last August and expect to have well over $300 (last time we only saved for six months and had $180). So, it's a worthwhile venture. And you don't even miss the change really. pirate:

Hard to believe that it's less than a month for the May Cruisers. We're coming up on our 4-month mark though! :hourglass

Robin,

I am seriously thinking purchasing that camera thanks to all your hard work for deals, thank you!!!!!!! My fil has it, and I have been eyeing it for awhile. I'm thinking of purchasing it without Brian knowing...he did that with a couple of our computers to me, and I'd like to do the same to him for once in my life, ROFL!

QUESTIONS:

How do I get the Dell Preferred Account 10% deal? When I apply, do they give me a discount? Or did you get it because you are a current customer?

Also, how do the e-bay coupons work? I'm a novice. Is it like buying something from a vendor online?

Thanks, I sure appreciate it! I sent you an e-mail, but I think it went to Neverland, lol!

Tracy,

Thanks for the newsletter! I now have something to read while waiting for the DR this afternoon!

Sent you an email.

Here is what I did:

I applied the 10% off code after the 15% off - then I applied right there in the cart for credit, it approved me and when I went another step further in the check out process it took the 10% off! Simple!

I bought the ebay one buy BUYING IT NOW and the buyer PROMISED to send within minutes which did did. There are varying prices for the codes.

Sorry, I check my work email constantly but not the other one so I must have missed it.

I haven't shopped camcorders much lately but saw a TON of varying prices on the Target web site. Geeze, some are as cheap as toys.

DH and I got the Hep A vaccine yesterday... he has no sideaffects.. but I started feeling like crap about 1-1/2 hours after the shot... very lethargic, achy muscle and joints and a headache.... has anyone else had this happen. I actually stayed home from work for the 1st time in 4 years today because I felt so bad.

Dr. was telling us to make sure we get the booster in six months but I will seriously consider NOT getting it with the way I fell and the $200 plus dollars it cost.

We (DH, DD-18 and I) all got our HEP A shots at the recommendation of both family doc and pediatrician. We got our first set in August before last year's cruise and got our boosters in February. Never had any side-effects from either of them except for the muscle hurting where they actually gave the shot. The second one hurt more than the first but I think that is because we had a stormtrooper of a nurse giving us the needle!

We have Aetna and they weren't covered -- so it was $75 for each of us (NO co-pay because the nurse gave the shots) and $40 for the prescription for my daughter's shot (they don't keep the syrum on hand) and $5 co-pay for her. Then, of course, we had to do it again six months later with the same costs. But we feel it was worth it - gave us peace of mind. Also, we were told to make sure your family is up-to-date on tetatus shots!

Cathy

Thanks Kathy, Robin, and Lynn!!!

(Robin, it was not you re: e-mail - I think there was a glitch! Thanks!)

Kathy, I think your deal may be better, because we already have the memory card.

Thanks all!

Happy Birthday Emma!!!! :bday: :bday: :cake: :cake:

Happy Anniversary Arlene & Martin!!!! :rockband: :cheer2:  :cheer2:

Also hope Bob's Mom gets better soon.

Kathy--

Please be careful when ordering from the internet! The digital photography forum that I frequent often has horror stories of people getting ripped off from many companies that appear legit but are not.

I always stick to the well-known companies that have both a retail presence and internet business (Target, Gateway, B&H Photo, etc.) or are very well known for being reliable internet companies (Amazon, etc.).

The two photo companies that I have heard good things about are B&H Photo and Adorama.

:earboy2: Wish my desk looked that neat

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Just a second -- maybe I don't have a desk -- it's just stacks of paper !

Seriously -- read the reviews Kathy - before you purchase from any online stores. I got mine from PC Connection - they do catalog sales - as well as online -- plus since we have a corporate account - I knew they would deliver. In fact - when I showed the prices to our tech guy (hmm... if he wasn't over 6' 4" tall - I wouldn't recognise him when he floats every 2 weeks or so !) he called to verify it wasn't a typo and the price was real.

I have a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-F828 that's 8 Megapixel, and I love it. The only bad part is it's a little big and bulky, but on the up side, it takes great pictures. I have two 1GB memory sticks and one 1GB Compact Flash Card for it and 2 batteries. The only thing I'm looking for is an underwater case, but I'm not sure they make one for it.

Here's the write up about it: Representing the next level of digital still photography, Sony's DSC-F828 Cyber-shot is the first consumer camera to incorporate four-color filter CCD technology and a Real Imaging Processor™. These new components are integral in capturing color accuracy closest to what the human eye can see, setting a new benchmark in camera performance.
The new (RGB+E) filter adds an emerald-colored pixel to the filter pattern, realizing color fidelity that is closer to human color perception. Photographers will notice an extraordinarily life-like rendering of blue, blue-green and red hues.

The Real Imaging Processor delivers increased speed with lower power consumption, enabling the F828 to capture an eight-megapixel image in almost half the time required by typical five-megapixel cameras! New manual controls, coupled with Carl Zeiss T* optics, gives advanced photographers a broader range of mechanisms to determine focus, exposure and recording modes.

Images can be stored onto CompactFlash Type I and Type II media, as well as a Microdrive hard disk drive or Memory Stick PRO media1. The Cyber-shot F828 truly embodies a premier imaging experience.

A couple of months ago, we bought a Canon ZR-90 Digital Camcorder for this trip, and so far so good.

Here's the write up for it:

The Canon ZR90 is the most powerful and versatile camcorder in the ZR series, with powerful DIGIC DV and VIC imaging technologies, enhanced low-light image capture and exceptional digital connectivity. Capture life's precious moments the way you want them to be remembered, thanks to the Canon ZR90 camcorder.

Your Canon ZR90 comes complete with a host of Genuine Canon Accessories, including a low-consumption Lithium-Ion Battery Pack, Compact Power Adapter, Shoulder Strap, Stereo Video Cable, and WA-30.5 Wide Attachment.

The supplied Wireless Remote Control, 8M SD Memory Card, USB Cable, and DIGITAL VIDEO SOLUTION DISK for Windows and Macintosh, further extends your video- and photo-making capabilities
