Remember the famous Mary Tyler Moore episode?

OK, so I have to lay off an employee this morning. I mean, this guy is losing his job - very ugly thing to have to do.

So I'm going through the paperwork with him and I start to think about Mark's message. I'm picturing his cat licking his face and saying "Do it again Daddy, that was fun!" while he twitches on the floor. First I smile, and then start to laugh in spite of myself. Meanwhile my ex-employee is looking at me with a mixture of disbelief and disgust (what can be funny about taking someone's job away?). Slowly the situation deteriorates until I have to tell him to hold on a minute while I go to the men's room. Inside I take a few minutes (seemed like an hour) to pull myself together, then was able to finish the job with only a few occasional smirks. I walked the guy to the door and took his badge, then returned to my desk.

Now everyone is walking by my door and shaking their head. I may have to take a sick day here...

FOUND 'EM!! Never did lose 'em, they were just hiding in my colon!!. All is well again. Wait did that really happen or did I dream all that up?? This little "toy" couldn't really do that to me!! I'm gonna have to check it out 1 more time to be sure!!

That Chuckles the Clown episode is a Classic.
Right up there with the WKRP's - Thanksgiving episode, where they have the turkey giveway and they throw the turkeys out of a helicopter over a shopping mall. Mr. Carlson's classic quote - "As God is my witness I thought turkeys could fly"

Hey Denise maybe you should drive to the office and pick up Jazz from work, or at least start his car for him tonight

I agree! Today I was walking around the plant with tears running down my face-musta been stopped by 4 people asking if I was OK. I remember falling off the sofa in hysterics when those two idiots came back to the studio and he muttered those words. The only TV line I still remember!

WOW! What a morning everyone's having!

Mark - your story literally had be howling with laughter! I'm glad I'm at home today so my colleagues didn't wonder what was wrong with me! The Technical Services unit at my office sits in a quad-pod arrangement, so it would be hard to keep howls from my colleagues!

Janet - come up with another "Defense" for us, PLEASE!!!!

Susan - welcome back from the Wonder! Did you get lots of good pins???? After Christmas, I need to reorganize all my pins and decide which ones are Lara's "traders" for our cruise! She loves to trade, but she's not very discriminating. The more she likes a pin, the nicer one she wants to give up in exchange!

I'm off to visit my sister today (she's been moved to a Rehab Unit ) so I'll be checking back tonight!

I used kill myself laughing at Col. Flagg.
He do codes like. "Mares Eat Oats, and does eat oats, and I'll be home for Christmas" Supposed to be C.I.A.
Never forget when they were looking for Hotlips and he was talking about torturing prisoners to find her, Hawkeye says Why don't we just drop an atomic bomb on them, and his reply was "Hey, don't try to make friends with me".
Great comedies. Doesn't seem to be the same anymore on the tv though.

I decided to give myself a one-second burst just for the heck of it. The pins on the pin cruise were wonderful!! The "free" gifts were FANTASTIC!! I was rather impressed. DH is happy (he's the villain collector in this household).

We didn't do any trading at all - forgot to pack the traders. But on the repo cruise I will take a few to trade with cast members, but that's it. I refuse to turn the repo cruise into a pin trading cruise.

Oh no! This thread is ruining people's lives...laughing while laying off your employee due to Mark's story, uh life??? OMG...Poor employee...shame on you Jazz...glad I do not need to lay anybody off today. GEEZ!!!!!!!

Any news on the school year start for your children? I work for Long Beach USD and my kids attend too on the traditional schedule. One of our board members came to a staff meeting, and I asked him about changing the school year start. Nothing has been even "thought" of here, so I was very glad. Hope it works out for you. Want to meet you on the cruise!
