Thanks for the info! I might have to try this sometime in the future!

The family went to Cucina Cucina for dinner tonight and we saw singing Tink (aka Becky) from our DISmeet. Apparently she and her Mom had to cancel their cruise with us next year.:(

She and her Mom had gotten their room from rae the Shrimp Queen. The room was under rae's name. So, in order for them to get the room they would have had to cancel and rebook to the tune of $3000.00

She and her Mom are going on a Princess cruise in November instead :teeth:

Disney has a waiting list of people who are willing to spend the extra money for this cruise next year. I told Becky that if this cruise was going to cost an extra $3000 we would have cancelled too! I think $7000 for 2 people is a steep price to pay. Becky said she would let us know how they liked the Princess cruise at our next DISmeet!

Roxann - Thanks for the update. I feel so bad that they won't be going with us. I totally understand though. There is no way that I would spend that much extra money!

Hi everyone,

Well, tomorrow I'm going in for surgery. I'll be in the hospital for 3 to 5 days, then I will have a 6 to 8 week recovery. I keep thinking that this time next year we'll all be on the cruise, and this will be a thing of the past.

I plan to wear my DCL t-shirt to the hospital, and I'm bringing my Mickey slippers that dh gave me for Christmas last year. I figure both will give me good luck. :)

Take good care, and I'll look forward to reading the cruise posts when I return.

I have to do a liquid-only diet today, so I'll dream of Palos throughout the day, lol!

Blessings to you and yours!

Barbara (PS Lynda - EmmasGrammy, thank you for your kindnesses, I sent you a PM.)

One year today we will be enjoying our first "day at sea". Relaxing by the pool, a cool drink in hand, wind in our hair, sun on our face....ahhhhhh, now thiis is the life!

Good luck with the surgery Barbara. You must have posted about it while I was on vacation because I can't seem to remember what type of surgery you're having (unless you are keeping it private.) Anyhow I'll be keeping you in my thoughts.

Barbara,

Best of luck to you with your upcoming surgery. I'll say a prayer for you tomorrow and I look forward to seeing your posts again once you've recovered.

Out of curiosity I checked airfare from Philly to LAX- one way on July 14th which is a Thursday. NON STOP is just $94. I just may have to book way in advance for this trip. How can you beat that price? The only bad part is that if you have to cancel the cruise for any reason within the next year you can't get your money back on the flights. Anyhow isn't that a fabulous price?

Hey Mom2Belle&PeterPan you'll have to do a "trip report".
Compare the food on the Magic to the Hospital food, let us know if the entertainment is as good and if you get sea sick :)

Good luck tomorrow.

Cheers,
Grumbo

Hi kpgclark,
What airline is that price with? I have been doing the same thing. Can't wait to see the prices from New orleans when they come out.

I don't remember which airlines but there were quite a few offering that price.

Pixie Dust to you Barbara. You are in our prayers for a good outcome.

Asked DH on Friday evening about 8:20 what we woudl be doing in a year. His answer..."having missed the boat we will be running around LA." Thought about various forms of torture but refrained.

Question for those who have flown recently. What are the weight restrictions on luggage? We usually drive to Florida and get on there. So flying to LA and then from Orlando back to home will be a new experience. Phil (the above DH) says that you are only allowed 40 pounds. I will have a major problem in that case. My suitcase is routinely heavier than that. So anyone know an airline that allows you to bring your entire wardrobe?

Talk to you all later. Estelle

:earsgirl::earsboy:

I'm quite sure it is more than 40 pounds but I'm not sure exactly. I think it is closer to 60 or 70 pounds. They levy quite a hefty fee if you are over. Check on any airline's site and they'll list it there. Last time I flew one of my suitcases was overweight and I stood there rearranging shoes to even out weights. I ended up carrying a pair in my carry on bag as well. This time I'm not bringing 10 pairs of shoes!

Barbara - Good luck on the surgery tomorrow. We'll look forward to hearing from you when you feel better.

Estelle - I normally fly United and their weight limit on bags is 50 lbs and they don't hesitate to ding you the extra charges if you go over!

Barbara,

prayers for you on your surgery and speedy recovery!! Think about the MAGIC while you are going under!! LOL!!

About those luggage weight, last january when i went to FL. Delta zapped me by charging me extra for 2 suitcases over 40 lbs!! one was only was 8 lbs over!! I had a FIT!!! but there was nothing i could do about it...i have one of those large suitcases and i combined 2 large suitcase, one for my DH and DS together and mine with my DD and sure enough, got zapped!!! I hate to bring all those luggages since they take up room in the hotel, but for the next trip, we each bring our own.

In plain English,,,Those AIRLINES COMPANIES are NASTY!!I love to fly but I hate dealing with them!!

8 pounds over is a lot! They'll charge you if you are 1 pound over. Just curious, how much were you charged?

Prayers and Pixie Dust for you Barbara for Tomorrow!

Sorry to hear that Becky had to cancel out but at that price, geez!

Have a Disney Day Everybody!
