One CM from EPCOT even told us that they are going to get rid of the ball which i didn't belieive it for a sec!!!

Yikes! I don't think I would visit EPCOT ever again!!! Spaceship Earth is, in my opinion, one of the best structures on property. And the attraction inside is great too. :Pinkbounc

Good morning, all!

I've been Missing in Action for a few days - one of my colleagues got married on Saturday so I thoroughly enjoyed all the festivities! (I thought of the "Sisterhood" while I was sipping yet another glass of Zinfandel. It will be great to be enjoying a glass (or two :D ) with all of you in August!)

The weather sucks around here! Hi Janet! Contrary to Grumbo's assessment of yesterday's storm being "nothing", the way some people drive makes it a big "Something"! :earseek: I made it into work without too many problems, but I start early ahead of most of the lunatics on the roads. Everyone else was at least 1-2 hours late arriving!

Today's forecast call for 3-4 hours of freezing rain and ice pellets. Even worse for driving than the snow! I've got another stupid head cold and desperately wanted to phone in a "work from home" day, but I figured others would have the same commuting problems as yesterday so here I am!

Melinda - hope you really enjoy MVMCP tonight! We went two years ago and absolutely LOVED it! I'd go again in a heartbeat, but getting away from all the holiday obligations and relatives makes it really difficult.

Mark - thanks for the "Canada" posts. Many are truer than you would expect!

Hope everyone has a safe and happy day today! :grouphug:

I'm sorry I don't remember the name of the DISer flying out of JFK via Jetblue on the (I believe) 19th of August to Long Beach BUT the price has dropped to $119.

Hope you caught it already but if you didn't please check out the jetblue website.

Mary

That would be me. Thanks for the heads up, the phone call saved me $120.00.

Mary, are you interested in our meet or a bus back to the airport??

Hi Mark

I revised our number of attendees to 5 to include our "Seniors" - it's a good chance for them to meet some people too!

Thanks for so diligently coordinating all this. :rockband:

Hi all--

I was thinking about the meet on Sunday and where it should be located. Although we only have 145 people confirmed for attendence at this point, I would bet anything that we'll end up at or above the "max" capacity for either location. Perhaps we should just plan on Studio C or which ever can accomodate the most people?

Or, we could put a poll up at TC and let everyone vote!

Mark,

AuntyBrat might not have noticed I signed up our whole group of 21, of which her 2 are a part of. So you either need to remove her from the list, or change my 21 to 19 if you leave her on the list. :teeth:

Contrary to Grumbo's assessment of yesterday's storm being "nothing", the way some people drive makes it a big "Something"!

That is the problem Arlene. It is the way some people drive. Why snow tires aren't installed yet is beyond me.
The traffic and roads were not really bad. It is people having no idea how to drive that caused a huge problem. I agree freezing rain is a big deal but I was on the 407 in Mississauga when they were talking about ice pellets by the airport. That is all it was. Just slow down a bit, leave a bit more room. Those that are too nervous to drive in this should take public transport. No shame in it but if they venture out into the snow drive properly.
Anyway my winter drive rant for today. :)

Cheers,
Grumbo

Scratch sorry but you people from Toronto are WOOSES!!!!!
I was down to Niagara today. Drove down and back through T.O. and Gawd that was NOTHING!!!!! I was expecting hell by listening to the radio reports and in all honesty the roads and weather have been far worse most of last week up here. I realize some of the roads weren't sanded but have you guys ever heard of snow tires?
Sheesh it was like driving with a bunch of the Sisterhood behind the wheel of a 79 Oldsmobile.
Doris called me on the phone and told me to stay with friends if the roads were really bad. (Hmmm I think that is why she wanted me to stay down there. Hmmmm have to check on that ;) ) but it really wasn't bad Janet.
Laughed at all the snowmobiles on trailers on the way up 400.
You know what the standing joke up here is?
"When is it safe to go snowmobiling on Lake Simcoe?"
When the people from Toronto stop going through the ice :)

Cheers,
Grumbo

I quite agree with you there!

I know that it wasn't bad if you knew how to drive in it! Which many do not! I could not take the Maroons out there holding me up! So I went home!

It was nice having a mental health day!

I spoke to DCL about that and the only venue big enough is the Walt Disney Theatre. Not a great place for a meet. I told DCL we'd limit the attendees to whatever the room fits. Although Rockin' Bar D only holds 275, overflow can go into Sessions or Diversions, thus increasing our totals. In Studio C once you reach the limit you're out of luck!

I've pm'd many more people then have signed up, many have read the PM and not responded, so they might not want to attend. We may not reach the total occupancy anyway...Mark

Susan, I adjusted the numbers, Thanks.

Beware of CM info and rumors at the parks!

There are a lot of rumors floating around about replacements for the Indiana Jones Stunt Show. Some have the attraction being completely replaced by a copy of the Indi ride at Disneyland and others have it being revamped. Have to take each with a grain of salt!
A great site for WDW info (and rumors) is www.wdwmagic.com.

I read a lot that it will be like the DL Indie ride but a mixure of systems as they have more space.

I was keeping out of this for a while, but I remember history at school:-
A history lesson

Two Frenchmen travelled the seas and as they were not good navigators they became lost for a long time. Finally they found a baron land, cold, with ice and snow.

They were quite old and during there travels one had become slightly deaf.

The first one called Clive-Nathan DeVere, said, we have found this land, it might be a little disappointment, but as we found it we will name it. We will each choose a letter in turn for the name.

So Clive says

C after my first name, the other deaf Guy goes:-
A? Clive says now after my second Christian name
N the other deaf guy goes:-
A? Clive says after my surname I will give a
D and the other deaf guy says
A?

And that's how they named the land they had found.

Susan, I adjusted the numbers, Thanks.

Thanks for getting all of this together Mark. It's a really great idea and will be a lot of fun to meet everyone early on during the cruise. That way, we can all run like hell whenever we spot each other throughout the rest of the voyage. :earboy2:

I agree with your assessment of the situation too. Never thought about Diversions and Sessions serving as an overflow area.

Has anyone booked flights yet? Travelocity is showing an outstanding fare from FL to CA (LAX) for only $139 per person. Even better the flight is non-stop.

What happens if Delta goes under before the flight though? The ticket says it is non-transferable to any other airline or passenger.

Anyone? Anyone?

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: You just couldn't resist, EH, Andrew???

As you know, Canadians have a reputation for adding "eh" to the end of sentences in a conversation (probably as a way of engaging the other person). I don't think I do it much, but I must sometimes since Americans have picked up on my being Canadian just from talking to me!

One of the jokes here of how to spell "Canada" is: C, eh? N, eh? D, eh?

Just remember, we're still related! Part of the British Commonwealth, you know!

There is also more "BAR" area in these venues. You know how nasty the sisters get if they don't have a drink or two before breakfast!!

kmiles- You said before that your name is already on the list for the meet. Are you with another group, or is kmiles an alias? (maybe you're bmwdsny and you're trying to keep your post count down!!)

Andrew DEREK UK- It was bound to happen...

We welcome you.

...and of course one for Grumbo:

Why is a Canadian government worker like a shotgun with a broken firing pin? It won't work and you can't fire it.

Arlene, a little holiday verse for your office:

Abort, Retry, Ignore?

Once upon a midnight dreary, fingers cramped and vision bleary, System manuals piled high and wasted paper on the floor, Longing for the warmth of bed sheets, still I sat there doing spreadsheets. Having reached the bottom line I took a floppy from the drawer. In then invoked the SAVE command and waited for the disk to store, Only this and nothing more. Deep into the monitor peering, long I sat there wond'ring, fearing, Doubting, while the disk kept churning, turning yet to churn some more. But the silence was unbroken, and the stillness gave no token. "Save!" I said, "You cursed mother! Save my data from before!" One thing the phosphors answer, only this and nothing more, Just, "Abort, Retry, Ignore?"

Was this some occult illusion, some maniacal intrusion? These were choices undesired, ones I'd never faced before. Carefully I weighed the choices as the disk made impish noises. The cursor flashed, insistent, waiting, baiting me to type some more. Clearly I must press a key, choosing one and nothing more, From "Abort, Retry, Ignore?"

With fingers pale and trembling, slowly toward the keyboard bending, Longing for a happy ending, hoping all would be restored, Praying for some guarantee, timidly, I pressed a key. But on the screen there still persisted words appearing as before. Ghastly grim they blinked and taunted, haunted, as my patience wore, Saying "Abort, Retry, Ignore?"

I tried to catch the chips off guard, and pressed again, but twice as hard. I pleaded with the curs'd machine: I begged and cried and then I swore. Now in mighty desperation, trying random combinations, Still there came the incantation, just as senseless as before. Cursor blinking, angrily winking, blinking nonsense as before. Reading, "Abort, Retry, Ignore?"

There I sat, distraught, exhausted, by my own machine accosted. Getting up I turned away and paced across the office floor. And then I saw a dreadful sight: a lightning bolt cut through the night. A gasp of horror overtook me, shook me to my very core. The lightning zapped my previous data, lost and gone forevermore. Not even, "Abort, Retry, Ignore?"

To this day I do not know the place to which lost data go. What demonic nether world us wrought where lost data will be stored. Beyond the reach of mortal souls, beyond the ether, into black holes? But sure as there's C, Pascal, Lotus, Ashton-Tate and more, You will one day be left to wander, lost on some Plutonian shore, Pleading, "Abort, Retry, Ignore?"
