August 1st 2009 - Eastern 8/1/2009 The Eastern Caribbean Castaways

If you're worried about your cc & parasailing in St. Thomas, I can report that the parasailing at Castaway Cay is pretty fun! Granted it's been 3 years since I did it, and it probably is more expensive than in St. Thomas, but just an option.

1 Month!!! :thumbsup2

Hey SpinDisc, I've actually thought seriously about doing the parasailing in CC. I've already reserved the waverunner tour so I was thinking of breaking the watersports up over two different ports. But - we're probably doing a tour of St. Thomas so it may work better to parasail in CC. I may go out and try to reserve it just in case. Thanks!

And not like I'm lurking or anything :rolleyes1 but wanted to be post # 700!

Sorry I haven't been around more..between closing on a house  and finishing plans for the wedding  I've been a little busy.

Hope everyone is having a great summer!

Argh! You beat me to it! I thought I was gonna be #700. Well done. :)

I called disneymom8589 today and told her that we are leaving for our vacation "THIS MONTH":cool1::cool1::cool1:

And then I added up the money we are spending this summer, on two weddings and a Disney Cruise:scared1::scared1::scared1:

It's only money. And here is our dinner for the next six months (popcorn::)

Question of the week:

Are there any more DVC members in this group? If so, what are your home resorts and how often do you get to WDW?

WE are DVC members since 1999

We own @ BWV & SSR

We tend to go every 2 yrs - for us the big expense obviously is flights -eg this year we are paying £ 2300 roughly $3680 on just our flights to Orlando:scared1:

Holy Smokes!! :scared1: I didn't realize it was so expensive to go from England to the states!!

By the way, you can probably tell from Dave and my siggies that our DVC home resorts are SSR and AKV. We stayed at BWV last summer and enjoyed it! Love the location close to EPCOT and DHS.

I understand all pirates pay for rounds.:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Good job Spindisc.

The prices go way up in the summer holidays - a down side to being a teacher.

Also because of my back we fly Premier economy to give the extra leg room -

I booked our flights when they came out 11 months ago - out of curiosty I priced them today and happily they have gone up £800 / $1280

Hi
I just wanted to wish all my American friends a happy 4th of July !
From across the pond x

Helen,

Thanks for the wishes for the Fourth! Glad that relations between our two countries are so much better than they were on the day we are celebrating! :)

Just out of curiosity, do you live anywhere near Middlesborough? We had to high school soccer players stay with us in April. Their team from King's Academy was here playing in a few tournaments, and our church hosted them while they were in Houston. They were both so nice, and we thoroughly enjoyed their visit and hearing about life in England.

Just wondering!

Thanks for the good wishes, Helen!!

We are doing a couple of days of celebrating. Tonight we are going to a baseball game with fireworks afterwards. Tomorrow we are going to a friend's house. They have a view of Puget Sound and another fireworks display.

Sounds like fun! Our cul-de-sac is having a cookout and our own little fireworks display. My kids leave Sunday for a church mission trip to the Appalachian Mountains, and it will be just me and DH for a whole week! Then they are home for a week, then they go to camp for a week, then home for a week, and then the CRUISE!!! I'm so glad we have it to look forward to after a busy summer. :woohoo:

I can't speak for CC, but I parasailed years ago on Hilton Head Island. It was great. I found it to be more of a "weightless" feeling. You can see quite a ways, but you don't have much sense of motion once the line is extended. 25 days until my family leaves!

I checked on parasailing in CC, and the only available time conflicts with our waverunner tour. So St. Thomas it is! I found an online company where I can reserve it in advance if I choose. I told DH that we seriously need to sit down and look at the shore excursions that I've reserved, and decide what we're keeping & what we're cancelling.

Our big challenge right now is scheduling oldest DS's bday celebration w/the family before we leave. Since his actual bday is during the cruise, and school starts so soon after we get back, he wants to do the family thing early. It's tricky to find time with other family members' vacations plus our regularly crazy schedule!

When does school start for y'all? Ours starts August 24. The summer is going by WAY too fast!!!

Ok so I've started.

We leave home on 17th July and fly to the states on the 18th.

I cant believe its so close.

I've got piles of clothes all over our spare room (and thats just mine:scared1:)

We r taking 3 cases.

Its at this stage - I wish I was there:headache:
