August 19, 2007 Disney Wonder

Hello All,

This is my first post in a while. I just checked for curiousity today to see if Palo's would be fully booked on day 75 and just as I suspected the coveted brunch is booked.

If you want reservations now you have to be first to the ship:yay:

I haven't started buying cruise clothes yet. I'm hoping that I can get into some of the clothes from last year's cruise.

If not, I will do some shopping when I take the family to a conference that I will attend be attending in Dallas in July. The girls love the malls in the metroplex area.

Joe

Yes, I'm bad about that. I always buy new clothes when I go on vacation (we only do 1 big vacation a year, so It's a big deal for me). I don't spend a lot of money on each item, but I just like to have something new for pictures. My DH and DS don't care. I use to have to buy all Disney shirts when we went to WDW but my DS told me last summer that I didn't need to buy him Disney shirts. Whatever! I'll be sporting my Mickey shirts at the parks by myself then :rotfl:

Don't worry...there will be alot of us folks wearing our Mickey shirts at the World. I am even trying to print some shirts that the people over at the creative Disboards are designing. See ya there!!

Hi, All -
It's so nice to have these boards to come to when my dh starts rolling his eyes when I print out packing lists, try on dresses, shoes, etc. and try to book stuff at 1:00 am on June 5. A common phrase is "You need help." As I mentioned, first time cruisers, and way excited.
DS has new sneakers, some hawaiian shirts, and one of those 97% UV protection suits ($18 @ BJ's). I don't think it's ever been easier to get him to shop than to say it's for the Disney Cruise. I think I'll be buying a snorkeling set for him for CC. Now he's asking about pirate gear. We have eye patches, a hook hand & a sword. Any suggestions on the rest of the gear?
I requested a DCL postcard from a character for ds from VerandahMan - have any of you done that before? Thanks, -D.

Hey there everyone,

Back again, and see so many folks are getting themselves ready.

Ok...now I'm ready. 2 years ago on the Magic out of LA I promised that next time I was going to get a REAL Pirate costume.......so this past weekend I got one...Full long jacket, fluffy shirt....even a wig! Now I know most people don't get really decked out for the Pirate Night, but I'll tell you, it's really fun. Now DW and both my grandkids are going shopping at the costume shop....pirate:

My grandson will be 8 in 2 weeks...so he is signed up for OL. DGD is 5 and she signed up for the OC...hope we can meet on-board and get similar ages together. This worked great on Magic Cruise a couple of years ago.

Anyone know if the Parasailing on CC has "double" harnesses. I have seen these before in Mexico...where 2 can go at the same time. I have my DGS (8) ready to go, but was wondering if there are doubles as well as singles.

I cannot believe that as many times as we have been to the Caribbean, we have never been to Nassau. Anyone ever gone to Blackbeard's.

Last: Let's set to meet in the Promenade lounge at 3 PM on sail day. At least for a quick "hello" and get the kids to meet each other and see if they "buddy up". Nice way to get to meet each other.

Getting close now. Remember maties.....get those Pirate digs.

Yes, to the double parasailing. My DD and DSIL did this a few years ago together and had a great time! A Dis meet would be great! Count us in! For pirate night, most of the kids traveling with us wear a pirate tshirt, eye patch, earrings and the bandana they give you at dinner. They are pre-teen and teens and I don't think we could ever get them to go in costume, but at least they have spirit!!!

Yes they have the double harnesses at CC. It was great. I wish I could do it again, but apparently I agreed to go fishing with my DS. :scratchin Maybe in '08 if I can drag my DD from the teen group long enough. She will be old enough to bumb up next year.

:thumbsup2 For the Promenade DIS meet. Terrific.

benseven.............VerandahMan is terrific about the postcards. He sent some to our friend's children for their cruise, and I made VerandahMan's mom a Mickey pillowcase in exchange. (I had made them for V-man's family, but didn't think his mom would be interested in a flannel pillowcase [she lives in FL]. I was wrong. She now has one with her name embroidered on it.)

Does anyone know if there is a post office/mail box on CC, and if so, is the postage the same as in the US. We always send postcards from Main Street and I'm wondering if there's a same set up at CC. On another note:rolleyes1, I am so excited about this cruise and I will be dressed as a very appropriate pirate lady. Ya just gotta love the pirates!

I believe there is a post office on CC for you to mail postcards from. I don't know how much the postage is though. Always too busy on CC to mail anything.:)

According to the postcard thread, you can mail from CC and get the CC postmark, but the mail can take up to 4 weeks to arrive.

I thought it was Bahama postage fees? On CC, at the post office, it is one of the few places you will need cash. They will not take you ship card. (Unless all of this has changed since last year.)

I just got around and started trying to reserve things and yes palo's brunch is history for this newbe::sad1: I did get a cabana on CC for a couples massage brownie points for this old pirate. I want to dress up BUT packing space in limited to pack a Captian Jack Sparrow outfit. Seems like I'm the only one excited about this cruise. I'm sure after school lets out next week antisapation will grow.

If you haven't booked Palo's there is still hope yet. I read on another thread that only 30% of the reservations are made available on line. When you arrive at the Wonder simply inquire about a reservation and it may be available.

Just be advised that the earlier you board, the greater your chances will be to get your desired reservation.

Joe

I hope to get a reservation for brunch at Palo's when we get on the ship thanks for the heads up. That's why I enjoy this site I haven't a clue on some (really most ) of these things. Of course fear creeps in about that looong line on the ship trying to snag that covented brunch. I'm on the DW transportation from the parks and I'll arrive at the same time most guest will.
I'll be like Captian Jack and not plan anything and eveything comes out perfect. Yah that's realilty:laughing: I went to Pirates 3 last nitepopcorn:: and my DD14 had to explain everything to me. Why can she remember all the details of Pirates 1 &2 and not remember to feed the dog daily:confused3

We are going !!:cheer2: We are staying 4 days at the poly in the land sea package. I am new to posting. I hope to get plenty of information. Thanks to all of you :thanks: I am a fanatic when it comes to planning. It is nice to see others with same questions. I am all for the pirate dress up. pirate: I have been wondering what everyone else might be wearing. If you have children around mine DD8 DS 11(12 in Sept) send me PM

Hi

We will be sailing on 19th too. Our DD6 would love to 'meet' some other girls before the cruise. Is there anyone out there? She's a 'kind of shy with new people' little girl who loves everything Disney, especially Princesses. She is also a High School Musical fan. I am sure it would make her feel a little easier about the Oceaneers Club.

We'd love to hear from you!

My daughter is 8 and is also a High School Musical fan. I would love to hear from you. she can be "clingy" at times and it would be nice to find a friend prior to sailing.princess:

Hello all,

We have never been to Castaway Cay...did the first West Coast Magic Cruise in 2005.

We have booked a stingray encounter and parasailing for a few of us....but wondering whether folks who have been there bfore could give us a little run-down. Do folks know anything about this "Getaway" excursion, that gives you snorkel gear and inner tube, etc???? Is this worth it?

Is there food available on the island???

Can you just use the beach and decide when you are there to rent an inner tube??? snorkel gear???

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks,

Stewart

We have been to Castaway Cay a few times and it has been wonderful! We usually rent a float and/or snorkel gear when we get to the beach, although last year, we reserved it online before we left (no reason to though). They have a lunch at the beach called Cookies BBQ which is pretty good....hamburgers, hotdogs, chicken etc. At Serenity Bay, the adults only beach, they have some different food items, but pretty much the same. We did the stingray excursion last year and the kid loved it! My DD and DSIL went parasailing a few years ago and also loved it. Make sure to have these booked if you want to do them, this way you don't get closed out. A few years ago, they sold softside coolers (small) with six bottles of water or other drinks in them as you got off the boat. We bought the water and still use the cooler. If you have any other questions, ask. BTW, my DH and DS did the banana boat last year, but the water was really rough due to a storm coming and my DS wasn't thrilled with having the seawater hit his face the whole time. (and he has banana boated in other places before) He won't be doing it again.
Let me know if you have any other questions.:cool2:

Donald and Daisy,

Thanks so much for the information. Looks like we did good. Got the Stingrays booked for 9 and the parasailing for 11....then....It will be "recovery"

Starting to get a little excited, but there is still lots of time. By the way...anyone have any great ideas for Nassau. Never been there either. Amazing, how we are in the Caribbean almost every year...so many Islands we haven't been to. Not really interested in Atlantis.....so any other places that are "great" there? DW wants to know..."How's the shopping?"

Stewart

Hi, All
Reading all your plans, now I want to do something adventurous, too.
Does anyone know if there is a weight limit for the parasailing (or where to get those kind of details?) Thanks!
