I agree that's a possibility...but you may get stuck with a cat 11 inside cabin just as easily. I couldn't survive without a window. I'm keeping my suite...I actually spent a lot of time on the balcony reading on my last cruise.

Wow! Those prices are tempting. I was thinking about rebooking, but I also enjoyed reading on the balcony on our second sea day as well. I think that I would miss that. Also, I want to be able to look outside the window from our room as we pull into all the ports.

Hi everyone, just wanted to give you an update on our cat 12 debate. We looked at the sizes of a cat 11 (which is the lowest we'd get as a party of 4) and our current cat 4 and decided the difference wasn't enough to entice us to move. Even with a 7.5K savings, we'd still be spending a small fortune on this trip and the thought of spending 14k total and not having a good room location (ie noisy or deck 1) and not enjoy ourselves.

Lori - DH and I agree with your decision completely....you don't want to be miserable on such an expensive trip and we'd miss you on deck 8

did you see that the barcelona airport was closed over the weekend due to volcanic ash?

Totally cool....my whole family is actually doing it. We took the kids to a place called Bath Junkie where they got to make their own scents for soap and my DS loved it. My DH has always liked that sort of stuff. He actually came up with the idea to do it.

No I did not see that. Do you know how long it was closed for. I guess we will have to keep a close eye on that as the time gets closer and adjust our plans accordingly.

If it's still open when I book my excursions, we're going to do that as well. DD is all sorts of into girlie stuff. DH's perfume sample would get to go to her as well, so she'd get both soap and perfume!

we decided to take the plunge and downgraded to a GTY cat 12. we were in a cat 10 - SPH so not a big deal for us but are enjoying the savings. we don't spend much time in our cabin...just a place to sleep and shower...we like being out and about on the ship. now i have to wait and see if we are stuck with that category or if we get upgraded. we did lose some of our OBCs but not all of them.

Did you book through a ta or with Disney. Which obc were you allowed to keep. I was afraid we would lose them all if we made the switch.

We did it as well. We saved sooo much money we couldn't refuse. It's just the two of us, and I just expect to get the worst room so if we get better that great We are the types of people where we will on be in our room to sleep and shower so if we get an inside cabin I will be a little sad but the savings will more than make up for it. Now we can do a few extra things (like spa villa, a rivate tour and a signature tour) which we really couldn't afford before


Well some good news (for us Americans anyway) the Euro is still plunging!

We just changed our reservation from cat 11 to cat 12 GTY-- saved $4600 and it is the same size inside cabin, just would be a lower deck. For us it was worth it! I just want to say THANKS for alerting us to the opportunity. Our TA called DCL and the person there told our agent that you can buy slot of towel animals for $4600". Does anyone know the likelihood of being able to upgrade on embarkation?

soxfan- I am not 100% sure of the likely hood but I will say as long as the cruise is not sold out, and you arrive early. The likelihood is pretty good.
