August 18, 2010...Can't wait for the MAGICal Mediterranean!!!

Ellen - I got an email today from DCL that is offering to upgrade our cruise to an Adventure by Disney...I sent it to Kim and Lori. For a mere $2,800 per adult, and $2,100 per kids..they'll do all your excursion planning, give you 2 adventure guides....and laalalala....you get the drift...very expensive

Hi Mindy, that's very interesting. i know people were thinking there was going to be an advertures by disney tie in with the summer 2011 suspended med cruises. can you also send me the email. my address is ewertheim@bloomberg.net.

did disney finally release info on the suspended cruises?

that's a shame that Andrew cancelled. he contributes a lot of posts to the cruise forum with lots of good info.

Still did not get the OBC letter today. If I don't end up getting one simply because I paid off the cruise, you can imagine the choice bit of verbage I'm going to throw Disney's way....

Hi Kim, i'm sure you'll get the letter. just might take an extra couple of days since you are on the west coast.

Hi Mindy, last night i looked over all the info including the excursions and we are not going for this. the cost is too much. it will literally double the cost of our cruise plus not too thrilled with all the excursions.

I was reading the cruise forum about the OBCs we just got. people seem to think that disney is going to lower the cost for our cruise soon so they gave out these credits in hopes that people won't jump on the cheap cat 12 GTY cabins. they already lowered the prices of some of the earlier med cruises. i think 999per person for cat 12. we'll see.

Personally that doesn't matter to me. We're in a cat 4 and will stay there regardless of cat 12's being released. So for me this OBC is just an extra 400 to play with!!!!

we have our travel insurance with disney at a cost of $477 for the three of us. would love to lower that cost. does anyone have insurance with another company that is cheaper?

thanks, ellen

aren't you nervous about something happening?

Not really. AND for us since we booked our air separate, DCL's insurance wouldn't cover it anyway... We've NEVER bought insurance and never had had an issue where we would need it. If something God forbid happens and we can't go, yes it will suck, but oh well.......

my husband works in the insurance industry and I think he said he wanted to get insurance, but no through Disney because we didn't get our flight through them either. we haven't discussed it lately...I'll have to ask him again. I know he wasn't thrilled with Disney's insurance plan.

Planning on adding insurance after we book our air and are closer to the point in time where the cruise can't be refunded. I'm going to go thru the company USAA uses. USAA is a great company; I've never had any issues and our insurance rates are low compared to others like AAA. I can't remember their name now but I'll look and post later.

Go to http://InsureMyTrip.com. They list several carriers. Some will waive the pre-existing condition exclusion if you pay within 15 days of FINAL payment rather than deposit.

Cost for us (family of 4), depending on carrier and coverage ran between $300 and $3000. Looks like the best for us is @ $982:scared1:

isn't $982 a lot to pay for trip insurance? I was hoping to find something cheaper that the $477 i'm getting from disney.

It depends on the cost of your cruise/flights and the types of coverages ou want. As I said, it starts at $300. Disney BTW wil only cover your flights if you book them through Disney.
