August 17, 2013 - A Fantasy Cruise to Paradise

Thanks, hopefully she tells us all about her trip!

I am researching on what excursions to take. I am reading that the ports are safe. I was considering on planning the excursion on my own.

I've been thinking about doing the same thing. I've seen a couple of companies that offer tours and they've gotten good reviews on yelp. I'll post links sometime soon.

We're officially booked for the August 17, 2013 sailing on the Fantasy stateroom 8614. Looking forward to participating in FE for first time - our DD will be 8. ::MinnieMo

We have finally returned from our summer vacation and it was straight back to work the day after we arrived back here in Austria.
DIStime was very limited so it took me a while (a week) to catch up here on the DIS. ;)
We had the most wonderful vacation, meeting some DISfriends, enjoying the CR and OKW and sailing back to back on the DREAM. We sailed right through Hurricane Isaac and it was quite an experience. This has been our third Hurricane cruise and they all were VERY different. :lmao:
Okay, but now we are back and counting down the days until our next cruise in February. :thumbsup2

This is going to be our 1st Disney cruise. We can't wait!

It will be my DH (41), DD (13) and myself (39).

Welcome to the group! :goodvibes

This sounds fun! I just read about it in the Mousesavers Newsletter.

Stamping Your Passport at Skyline on the Disney Fantasy

If you have been to Skyline on the Disney Fantasy, most likely this chic lounge became one of your favorite spots in the ship’s nightlife district. With its “windows to the world,” you get an ever-changing bird’s-eye view of stunning city skylines in panorama – making it easy to feel like you’ve been transported without even stepping off the ship!

New to Skyline on the Disney Fantasy is a “passport” you can get stamped throughout your cruise for seven hand-crafted martinis, themed to each of the featured cities. By purchasing the Passport to Skyline, you end up saving the cost of one martini, plus some. What’s more, you get a cool keepsake – a booklet with recipes for the martinis and gorgeous photos of the seven city skylines.

I actually asked about the "passport" on the DREAM and was told they are not doing it (yet ;)) because their cruises are shorter. But I can tell you that even in 4 days you can easily polish off those seven Martinis. ;)

Hi All-

We are booking the cruise on the Fantasy for the 17th in about a week. We have an 8 year old daughter and we would like to participate in the FE. Can anyone give me a tutorial on how the FE works? It sounds like fun.

Thanks & regards.

:wave2:

Welcome! :goodvibes
I added you to both lists now and if you have any more questions about the FE exchange, just feel free to ask.
They are a lot of fun!

Hi
we just returned from our cruise and I booked August 17 2913 cruise on board. It is likely that we won't join you, but instead defer until 2014 but I thought I would say hi. If you are looking for information on FE, check out the website below for the details. Some fellow cruisers gave me permission to post this for our last cruise and the info is great!

Welcome! :goodvibes

I updated the first message with the Facebook group link. Hopefully it will work!

Hope everyone is doing well! We have one last week of summer, then we start school back up and get back into the school year routine. Good times. We are going to visit Great Wolf Lodge this weekend for one last 'End of Summer' trip!

Summer just whisked by! I really hope you enjoyed your end of summer trip! :thumbsup2

What an incredible time we had last week on the Fantasy (Eastern Caribbean). The Fantasy is a beautiful ship. Our day at Catstaway Cay was picture perfect. The water must have been 80 degrees and was like glass. We booked this cruise while on board but are not sure if we will keep the date. We'll wait till the 2014 dates come out. I wanted to stop in and introduce myself in case we decide to keep this cruise. I'd be happy to answer any questions about the Fantasy.

Welcome! :goodvibes
We must have been at CC right around the time you were there. It was SO beautiful, even during the Hurricane! ;) Oh, and we were on the DREAM.

Hello all,

I will be taking my 4 th Disney Cruise on August 17, 2013. I would be joined by 25 friends and family. I have been reading about the FE and would love to participate. It sounds great. I love seeing the decoration and the FE while on the cruise. Who do I have to give my information too.

It will me my husband and my DD 5 and my DS 14.

Welcome! :goodvibes
You are definitely travelling with a BIG group! ;)
I am in charge of the FE and have already added you to the list. Please either PM me or post everyone's first name and the ages of the kids along with your stateroom number so I can add you to the "online details list".

Welcome! Karin (dizneeat) has been organizing the FE, but I believe she's still on a big trip to Disney. I'm sure she'll be in touch when she's back on line.

Thanks for helping out! We had an awesome vacation, and getting back to real life was no bed of roses. ;)

Thanks, hopefully she tells us all about her trip!

There is lots of helpful information on the cruise board. I love to read up on what other's did on the trip reports. :thumbsup2
As for our trip - I have already started a trip report, if you are interested, feel free to pop over.
The link is in my signature. ;)

Hi all, we are also going on the Fantasy on Aug. 17, 2013.. very excited! We took our first ever cruise this summer, the Magic out of NYC during the 4th of July, loved it and are heading back for another. We saw all the door decorations and the FE's, but since it was our first cruise, we were clueless. This time we are going to be more prepared and want to participate in the FE's.. On the cruise will be myself, husband, son (age 12) and daughter (age 10). Can't wait!

Welcome! My son is also 12, my daughter 10. I think there are a lot of kids around the same age in our group!

Cruising with Disney is addictive, isn't it?
Glad you booked this cruise and decided to join our FE exchange. I added you to my list, but since some people like to personalize gifts (like us) would you please either PM me or post everyone's first names and the ages of your kids and your stateroom number if you already know it. Thank you! :goodvibes

Hello! I would love to join in!

My DD Willow (currently 5, will be 6 at time of cruise) and I will be cruising with all of you on the Fantasy! :woohoo: We did our first Disney cruise - well, first cruise of any kind - in July this year on the Wonder in Alaska. We loved it so much that we booked another cruise while on the ship (not this one, but I have since changed to this one). :cool1: We plan on spending a week in WDW prior to the cruise, and DD doesn't know about the cruise at all. I don't plan to tell her until we get there, but we shall see how that goes. :confused3

Looking forward to getting to know all of you!

Great to have you here. How fun that you are surprising your DD with this cruise and are going to spend a week at WDW prior to it! :woohoo:

Thanks! I don't know whether I will be able to keep the surprise or not (e.g.,I'm not sure what I am going to do for WDW-to-port transportation, so that could potentially blow the surprise), but whenever she does find it, it will be a great surprise!

Looks like you are organizing the FE? I am not sure yet whether we will participate - is there any kind of deadline?

It should be fun if she thinks that you are going home and then the DCL bus pulls up and you tell, her, "Heck, why not?" :lmao:

Yes, I am organizing the FE and I am sure there will be a cut off time, especially since we leave Austria at the beginning of August.
Don't know yet, when the cut off time will be, but I will post it early enough and remind everyone of it, several times. ;) :goodvibes

Welcome! What a great idea to make the cruise a surprise! I'm traveling with just my kids too. How was the trip to Alaska with your daughter? I've been thinking about doing one of those with my kids too. I've been to Alaska, but they never have. The cruise seems like a fun way to see parts of the state.

Hello Dizneeat,

Thank you for adding me to the FE. Just wanted to give you my room number which is 2034. Thanks,

Does anyone know where I can get information on how to make a Fish Extender? Or is it better to just buy one. We have plenty of time before the cruise so I thought I try making one. I am also working on my magnets.

Here's a thread on how to make a no-sew fish extender. I haven't tried this, so I don't know how easy or difficult it is.

This page of a thread has brief directions someone provided on how they made theirs (sewn).

There isn't much to them, and I don't think it would be difficult to pull one together. My mother made ours, though, so I haven't tried it myself.

You can also buy them on ebay, but when I checked last year, I thought they were a little expensive, maybe around $35.

Thanks for info. Will attempt to make one since we have 10 months away. You are right, Just looked on eBay and they want 35 to 40.

Just looked on etsy.com and they want for the Fish Extender $35 to $50.00. I will be making mine. I will post pictures when I finally figure it out.

They are easy to make. It usually takes me about an hour to sew one for us. Just be sure to make it the right size, so it does not hang out into the hall too far.

You're right - whenever she finds out about the surprise, it will be great! I had her 5th birthday surprise trip to DLR all planned out, and bad weather intervened so that I had to surprise her in a different way than planned, and it was still great! :woohoo:

I will keep an eye out for the deadline and make my FE decision before then! :thumbsup2

Thanks! How old are your kiddos? I bet you will have a great time together!

We loved the trip to Alaska - it was our first cruise, and I am totally sold on them as the perfect way to vacation, allowing both of us time to do our own thing in a way that we can't at any other time. Love it! Being able to see the glacier from the ship was truly incredible - it was kind of a "bucket list" trip for me, so that day was by far my favorite. I would totally do it again, and I am betting that we probably will someday! :thumbsup2
