August 17, 2010 - From Keys to shining Cay.

Good morning everyone!

Here is the current FE list. These are the people that specifically told me that they wanted to take part in the Fish Extenders. If you want to play, please let me know as soon as you can. The cut off will be July 31. If you have a GTY room, please let me know what your room number is as soon as you get it - otherwise, no one can find you. First names are nice (but not required) as well.

2141 - Pam (pamcarey), Dan, Brian (DS 15), Amy (DD 10)
2150 - Jill (jsolar), Chad, Sam (DS 7), Scott (DS 3)
2518 - Kim (Kimber143), Tom, Tommy (DS 12), Marissa (DD 6)
2524 - Lisa (leosmom), Shane, Leo (DS 4)
5004 - Kelly (dkmjgal), Don, Megan (DD 14), John (DS 11)
5127 - Laura, Katie (DD 10), Kayla (DD 5)
5128 - Emily (emilyann415), John, Lily (DD 4)
6089 - Karen (Rominet's Mom)
6094 - Debbie (DumboFan), Kenny, Kate (DD 12)
6576 - Ken (kpros), Shari (spros), Staci (DD 18)
7020 - Angela (GrumpyBelle), Al, Jason (DS 15), Leah (DD 9)
8032 - Valerie (Rominet), Christophe, Max (DS 6), Gabe (DS 5), Sophia (DD 5)
8530 - Cyndi (cyndisun), Scott, Ben (DS 13) (two families in the Roy suite!)
8530 - Dana, Paul, Margo (DD9), William (DS6)

You should get your room numbers several weeks before the cruise. If you don't, stop by my room and leave a note with your room number. I will make sure everyone participating gets an update.

As far as the rules go, it's totally up to each individual. In the past, I've seen people give something small each day. I've seen people give one item only. I've seen people give items geared to the age of the cruiser. So, I guess I'm saying that there are really no rules - as far as I'm concerned. We don't have a big group, so if everyone gives one item on the first day, then the rest of the trip will be dull. So, if you are only planning one item, you may want to wait a few days.

We are planning a couple of small things to space out over the cruise.

Anyway, that's my two cents.

My daughter and I are attempting to make our FE. It's a little unconventional looking but we're having fun with it.

Is anyone interested in having a meet at some point? In the past we've met at the lounge near Parrot Cay (Promenade Lounge I think) around 3:00, before the safety drill on the first day. Let me know what you think.

The excitement is building here too!

My FE is homemade and unconventional as well. I'm trying to make a bag that I can use later. We'll see how it goes. ;)

We are up for a meet in the Promenade Lounge. I'd like to invite anyone interested to tour the Roy O. Disney suite some time after that. What time would be good? What time is the safety drill? We can specify "open house" hour at any time. I just thought it would be good to show you all around before the three kids get too messy.

Please let me know what time we should plan this. We haven't been on enough cruises to have a good sense of timing of all the events.

Can't wait!!!

Cyndisun WOW..that's awesome that you are willing to do this. I for one and my DH would love to see the suite. I am fine with combining the 2 meets if you want. We could meet at the lounge between 2:45-3:00 and then whoever is interested could tour the suite. I believe the drill takes place at 4:00? Can anyone confirm this?

I believe that 4:00pm is the usual time for the drill.

My DH and I have decided to make separate FE gifts for everyone. I think we have really gone overboard with all of this. I just got back from shopping for supplies again. I really need to learn to control myself.

I would also be interested in a meet and greet as well as a tour of your beautiful suite.:goodvibes I am also new to the disboard so not sure how the "meets" work. Keep us posted.:thumbsup2

Good morning everyone!
The excitement is starting to build over here at our house. The kids are already asking if they have to be back in the room at a certain time at night:scared1:

My daughter and I are attempting to make our FE. It's a little unconventional looking but we're having fun with it. We're almost finished gathering/making our FE gifts and I'm thinking if I can get everything done by this weekend I may ship our FE stuff down ahead of time. Has anyone ever shipped stuff down to the ship early? How has that worked out?

Is anyone interested in having a meet at some point? In the past we've met at the lounge near Parrot Cay (Promenade Lounge I think) around 3:00, before the safety drill on the first day. Let me know what you think.

Have a great day everyone!

We are starting to get excited also just trying to finish our summer school assignments:sad1: DONE before we leave for vacation. I know that the girls are trying to pick a place to meet on the cruise maybe the Promenade Lounge may be good if they can't come up with a place.:confused3
Looking forward to a great vacation.:cool1:

Sounds awesome to me! That's very generous of you to give us all a tour of the suite!

Grumpybelle I know what you mean about the FE gifts. We are having too much fun over here too!

So if we're set with the 3:00 meet in the Promenade Lounge (are we?? :confused3), I'd like to pick a time for the suite tour. It seems like there are two options:

1. Get in on the tail end of the Dis Meet--I can take interested parties back to the suite around 3:30. But I don't want to cut the Dis Meet short. Also, is this enough time for folks to get their life vests and head to their muster stations?

or

2. I will be in our suite from 5-6pm. This should give everyone time to enjoy the sailaway party and still get to dinner. We have the late seating so I it is no problem for us.

Let me know which option you think would work better. I'm open to all suggestions.

Cyndisun - I haven't seen anyone post yet about wanting to meet at the Lounge. I don't know how often everyone checks the boards. I myself check often - lol. Maybe we should give it another couple of days and then finalize. I'm perfectly ok with doing the tour at 3:30. I think there would be enough time to get ready for the drill.

The lounge at 3 will work, but I have a feeling they will find each other at the cruise terminal with much trouble. The 3 of them seem to have a lot in common and I think they will be drawn to each other.:lmao:

3:00pm in the Promenade Lounge sounds good to me. See you there!

Sounds good to me too, I think. It's our first Disney cruise, so I'm not really sure about the timing of things. My family will definitely want time to explore the ship the first day, since it's our first time on board, but I certainly don't want to miss out on touring the Roy suite! That's so generous of you, and a great opportunity!

We'll be on that sailing! Should have been in the Med but airfare was BRUTAL and had to cancel! soooo It's Keys to Cay for us. Doing a few days at the Animal Kingdom before hand for the Star Wars V Celebration.
I'll have to see if I still have my FE from the EB Panama Canal trip 2 years ago. I'll get my kids working on gifts.

BTW - I haven't seen this yet, is there a formal night (meaning tux) on this one? I usually do 7 nighters and bring a tux for that. I imagine there is a simply formal (just jacket night) and that is it.

AND I have found that the shorter cruises tend to be less "piratey". While certainly hard to tell does anyone think there will be lots of good pirates for Pirate Night? I ask becuase I have some serious gear and I don't really want to haul it if I don't have to.

I understand that it is called "dress up" night on this cruise. My guess is that you will see fewer people really dressed up on this cruise.

We would normally wear our pirate stuff, but we have Palo dinner on Pirate night, so no Pirate outfits for us this year.

Do you want to get on the FE list - if so, I need a little more information - see the list in the next post.

Our family is going with a Pirate theme on Pirate night but not full blown costumes. Kind of doing some homemade stuff. You'll see.

For the "dress up" night or as Disney is calling it semi-formal night...DH might wear a suit because he's bringing it for Palo anyway and he figures it's easy to bring an extra dress shirt and have 2 nights covered.

here is a link to the Thursday Navigator for the June 5 night Key West cruise.

Hope this helps regarding the need for a Tux.
