Just wanted to check in. This will be our first cruise and feel very overwhelmed. It will be Me, my DH and our four children, Steven (19), Nick (16), Samantha (13) and Robert (10). I just requested to join the Disney Facebook page and would love any guidance!!

Hi and welcome! I also have a 13 year old daughter and a son, 8.

I'm happy to answer any questions I can for you. This will be our 4th Disney Cruise. We previously did a 4 day Bahamas on the Wonder, a 7 day Western on the Magic and a 7 day Eastern on the Fantasy.

Hi there!

There is a Facebook page for the fish extender group. The link to the page is located on the first post of this thread.

There is also a Dismeet scheduled on board the first day of the cruise. That information is also located on the Facebook page.

Anyone start looking at shore excursions? Was thinking of doing a private one in Jamaica, but after reading some reviews on this board and cruise critic, I'm thinking we will be sticking with a Disney excursion for safety reasons. We did private ones all over Europe on our Med cruise this past summer, but for some reason Jamaica is just making us nervous.

Has facebook been busy for this cruise? It seems quiet here.

The Facebook page does seem to have some more activity. Not sure why that is. Maybe just convenience for people. I know I check Facebook more than I do Disboards.

I booked one private excursion in Cozumel to go to Nachi Cocum. We've done it once before, we liked it very much and I was comfortable with doing that on my own.

For Jamaica, I will book a Disney excursion, I just have no idea which one yet. My first choice would be something that involved Dunns Falls, but I don't think my kids can do that one quite yet. My son is not a very strong swimmer and I don't picture either one of them wanting to make the climb up. I don't think I want to spend the money for that if they can't really do every part of the experience. So, I was looking at maybe the Grotto Caves, which looked kind of kid friendly and interesting.

Grand Cayman - We were there once before and already did the Dolphin Encounter and the Turtle Farm. If we don't opt for a Disney beach excursion, we may just go shopping in the port and perhaps go to Margaritaville.

I'm sure I'll change my mind a thousand times before its time to actually book anything!

I think perhaps even if you are not doing the FE, you could still join the Facebook page just to meet the people that are there. That page also contains information about the meet group scheduled on board, if you are interested in that, so its not totally about the FE. I would ask Petra, the administrator of that page.

If someone did created a more general Facebook page, I'm sure people would join it if the info about it were posted so people could find it.

We just paid the down payment and booked flights/hotel. I don't know if I even have the acronyms right for "roll call". Does DH mean Disney Husband? DD mean Disney Daughter?? No clue...

We've been searching google and youtube for other people's experiences and tips and tricks for first time cruisers. Which is how I found these message boards!

My hubby and I would love to try and get to know some people prior to the cruise. We don't know anyone else that is going to we'd love to make cruise friends!

My daughter is a social butterfly so I'm expecting her to make friends quickly but I'm still worried that she might be shy once she gets to the Edge since she really doesn't know anyone else her age that is going.

If anyone knows of an alternative FB page for meet ups for this 8/16 Fantasy cruise, please let me know Thanks!!

DH means dear husband. DD means dear daughter etc.

Even if the FE is now closed, I think you can still ask to join the Facebook page anyway. Since it is a private group, you have to ask the administrator (Petra) to join the page in order to view any of the content. Often, even after an FE group has closed, a separate group will be formed just for the "latecomers" who missed the original sign up. I would ask Petra, the organizer of the FE and the Facebook page. Also, there is info on the Facebook page about the Dismeet, which I believe you can go to whether or not you are also doing the FE.

My daughter is NOT a social butterfly, she is super shy, but I'm hoping she'll make friends with girls her age so she will have someone to do things with in Edge. Her name is Allison and she is also 13.

Hi! You should consider asking to be added to the Facebook page. The link is in the first post of this thread. There may be a "latecomer" FE group forming there. Also, it contains info about the Dismeet and lots of us have been chatting over there about all different things cruise related.

I don't administer the Facebook page, I'm just a member. The administrator of that page is Petra. She is the one would need to add you to the page. If you put in a member request, I'm sure she will respond.
