What a bizarre day here.... If you watched any of the national news shows this morning they all their weather people staked out in our state somewhere! Quite honestly, not only am I tired of the crazy weather, but tired of seeing it all over the news!! This weekend - 5+ inches of rain and 70 MPH winds! Mixed with the melted 78" of snow and there's loads 'o water around here!

Best line on GMA today was "first the Jersey Shore TV show and then this... haven't these people suffered enough?" :rotfl::rotfl: (We suffer for a lot of reasons here - now the weather is another reason to consider relocating!!).

Faced with the loss of an hour's sleep due to the time change.... throw in the power outages.... the noise of our neighbor's siding rolling around in the street.... one of the parents in DD's class decided to have their kid's birthday party this morning - AT 9AM?!?!?!?! I tried my best to get out of going (one of those places with big, giant inflatable things), but apparently I was going to lose that battle....

Lying there watching the clock... 7:45...8:00...and then I was saved by phone - - PARTY CANCELLED - power outage!! Bad for the little boy, but good for me!! Honestly, who has a birthday party on a Sunday morning at 9AM anyway?!? :confused3:lmao:
Crazy isn't it!! With the time change, too - what were they thinking?!

:confused3 REALLY! What were they thinking!! 9AM on a Sun!!!!!! Ugh! I'm not a morning person.:) I would never schedule a prty on a Sun morning! At least it was cancelled. Hopefully, if they reschedule it, it won't be at 9AM!
Hope everyone had a good day! Maybe it won't take too long to adjust to the time change. I was certainly tired today.

Welcome Helen! I am a DVC memeber too! Speaking of DVC, I didn't get anything in the mail about the phone tour.:confused3

Looks, like it is FINALLY going to warm up this weekend............YEAH!!

Going to get some work done outside.

What ar your plans for this weekend?

Tomorrow, I am subbing in Kindergarten should be interesting!!:thumbsup2:goodvibes

5K on Saturday and probably some spring cleaning outside, too.

How was Kindergarten today?!

They rescheduled for tomorrow night @ 7PM??!! First - it's St. Patrick's Day - a semi-holiday from an eating perspective at our house, but more importantly... these are Kindergartners - they don't stay up much past 8PM and have school the next day?!?! I'm baffled. :confused3

Seriously? Are these people nuts??? I agree totally, Sunday at 9 am and a weeknight at 7pm, completely insane!

I suspect the weeknight thing is probably all they could get in the short term... unfortunately, that's not a good time for us and we can't attend... Personally, I would have negotiated my $$$ back and looked for another option on a more reasonable day/time.

That's crazy too! First of all 7PM on a school night for kindergartners???? I could see a Fri night, but not during the week for the younger ones. Is this an only child? Maybe the parent is new at the party thing???:confused3 She should've tried for the weekend.

Evening Everyone!

We have been so busy these past couple of days. I just finished my report cards and conferences but now it is Paul's turn.

Tonight we have been working on computer stuff. Set DS up with his own gmail account, tried to Skype with my sister and stuff like that.

DH and I have tried to run today but it is just not all that great. I think we will just take it easy until our 7K on Saturday.

Going to see Nora Jones in concert tomorrow night with a friend so that will be fun.

How is everyone else?

My recommendation - should be in a full taper by now. Yesterday was my last hard workout. I plan to take it easy the next couple of days and then do "pick-ups" on Friday.

Do you really taper for the short runs?

We did a really fast run on Saturday and it was great. Our run on Sunday was not all that great. We did 3.3 miles at a decent pace and then walked at least another mile. Then, we biked a couple of miles later in the day. Since then, I am just beat.

Tonight we ran 1.5 miles and stopped (we ran to DS's school for his conference). We were going to run home but decided just to walk it.

Since this is the first time we have been "runners", I would have no clue about tapering or such. We would love advice from those of you who are really runner! :goodvibes

Even for the short runs, I taper at least a few days before the race. The week of any race I probably cut my mileage in half, too. My knees are a mess though so I really need to cut back at times and I also do a lot of cross -training. Some runners I know do a full blown taper for a week or more even for 5Ks - but most of them are diehard runners who are competing for the prizes and such!!

A lot of runners tend to take a day off the day before a race. I don't agree with this. Have an easy week and take the day off 2 days before your race. By going out the day before your race and doing "pick-ups" you are reminding your body that you will be asking a bit more from it the next day.

My only other advice - have fun... the adrenaline rush alone of being in a race will shave time off for you... watch what you eat on Saturday morning (maybe that's just advice for me??!?).

Thanks for all the advice! Since DH and I are new to this crazy sport, we have no clue what we are doing.

I have bought some fun new clothes for the race (have even run in it to be sure it works) and am planning on having fun and enjoying our first official event! :thumbsup2

I think I will happily take it easy for a few days as my body is tired and sore. I will do something later in the week but am also going to stop stressing about it.

We will think of you running on Saturday too! Be sure to take pictures at your event and post them here! We will do the same!

Oh my gosh Harry that was a crazy time for the party. Funny, thing is I did not have to sub. today for Kinderg. Hanna, woke up this morning with a wicked cold. So after a bit of discussion Bruce decided to stay home with her well I got to school and they had called in too many of us to come in so I went home and he got to go back to work. So it all worked out well.

I have a meeting with our Superintendent tomorrow. Bruce and a few other parents have been working hard on getting the BOE to change our proposed school budget before sending it out to a VOTE....Last night, Bruce was at the BOE meeting till 11:45!!:scared1::scared1:

Hope everyone is having a GREAT week!!

Happy St. Patty's day ya'll! Good luck on your races this weekend. I love the info about the CC 5K, it's good to know that you can walk it if need be. I guess I'm really out of shape because I still can only run the courts, when I'm out on the main streets I just walk fast. I actually think I run slower than I walk! :confused3

Happy St. Patricks day everyone! or should I say I hope everyone had a Happy St. Patrick's Day!
