Good morning everyone!!
It is pretty cold here this morning. When I got in the car to take DD to school, the thermostat said 36 degrees and I had ice on my windshield. Brrrr.
It is only suppose to get into the low 50s. It's nothing like what you all are getting, but for us down here, it's pretty cold. But I'm loving it. I was getting pretty sick of the heat. I don't know how you handle those cold winters.

Snow is all melted from this past weekend... time for the nightly homework routine here.... ugggghhh!!!

Here is the Minnesota update...

Very cold = 17° without the wind chill :scared1:

Blowing snow = winter weather warning (don't worry...in Minnesota that really doesn't mean a thing - we still drive around and go to school)

Driving = accidents everywhere because the roads are slick and people are spinning out all over the cities (again, this does not mean that we close or cancel anything)

Outlook = snowing and getting colder all night. Tomorrow is suppose to be much worse than today. AGAIN...NO chance of having a snow day. :headache:

Happy snow day to all of YOU!

Jen

Here's a good laugh for all of you on this cold night!

Jeff Foxworthy on Minnesota :

If you consider it a sport to gather your food by drilling through 18 inches of ice and sitting there all day hoping that the food will swim by...you might live in Minnesota.

If you're proud that your state makes the national news 96 nights each year because International Falls is the coldest spot in the nation...you might live in Minnesota.

If your local Dairy Queen is closed from November through March...you might live in Minnesota.

If you have worn shorts and a parka at the same time...you might live in Minnesota.

If your town has an equal number of bars and churches...you might live in Minnesota.

If you think that ketchup is a little too spicy...you might live in Minnesota.

If vacation means going "up north" for the weekend...you might live in Minnesota .

If you often switch from "Heat" to "A/C" in the same day and back again...you might live in Minnesota .

If you can drive 65 mph through 2 feet of snow during a raging blizzard without flinching...you might live in Minnesota .

If you see people wearing hunting clothes at social events...you might live in Minnesota .

If you carry jumper cables in your car, and your girlfriend knows how to use them...you might live in Minnesota.

If you design your kid's Halloween costume to fit over a snowsuit...you might live in Minnesota .

If driving is better in the winter because the potholes are filled with snow...you might live in Minnesota.

If you know all 4 seasons: almost winter, winter, still winter, and of course, road construction...you might live in Minnesota .

If "Down South" to you means Iowa...you might live in Minnesota .

If you find -10 degrees "a little chilly"...you might live in Minnesota.

If you actually understand these jokes, and you forward them to all your Minnesota friends...You DO live in Minnesota.

Here is another good one to help you all understand me a little better! This also will let you know why I dream of spending my days at WDW or on a Caribbean cruise!!!

Cold Weather Behavior?

60 above zero: Floridians turn on the heat. Minnesotans plant gardens.

50 above zero: Californians shiver uncontrollably. People are sunbathing in
Duluth.

40 above zero: Import cars won't start. Minnesotans drive with the sunroof
open.

32 above zero: Distilled water freezes. The water in Bemidji gets thicker.

20 above zero: New Mexicans put on long johns, parkas and wool hats & mittens. Minnesotans throw on a flannel shirt.

15 above zero: New York landlords finally turn on the heat. People in
Minnesota have one last cookout before it gets cold.

Zero: People in Miami all die. Minnesotans close the windows.

10 below zero: Californians fly away to Mexico. Minnesotans dig their winter
coats out of storage.

25 below zero: Hollywood disintegrates. Girl Scouts in Minnesota still selling cookies door to door.

40 below zero: Washington, D.C. finally runs out of hot air. People in
Minnesota let their dogs sleep indoors.

100 below zero: Santa Claus abandons the North Pole. Minnesotans get upset
because the Mini-Van won't start.

460 below zero: ALL atomic motion stops (absolute zero on the Kelvin
scale). People in Minnesota can be heard to say, "Cold 'nuff fer ya?"

500 below zero: You know what freezes over. Minnesota public schools open 2 hours late.

Jen,
Those are too funny!:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl::rotfl:
NC isn't a bad place to live. Today it was in the 50's where I live and that's chilly for us (I know you would probably still be wearing shorts.:) )
We rarely get snow, if we do it's maybe an inch or too and they start closing things. And I live about 15 minutes form the beach.:)

Anyway, stay warm!

Kristin, I can't wait to see some pics from your trip.

:rotfl:I just drove by Dairy Queen, and it was packed!!!!!!!!!! And there were 5 cars in line at the drive thru, and it was 8pm during a blizzard warning!

:rotfl2:Sad that these are sooooooooooooooo true! Girl Scout cookie go day is always on what is on average, the coldest weekend of the year.

I would add at 40 below is when we actually ZIP the winter coat!

I think that is TRUE Minnesota! You have to love that even in the middle of our blizzard warning, we are out getting our blizzards! :rotfl:

I always feel bad for the poor Girl Scouts! :confused3

So true!!!!:lmao::lmao:

It takes another Minnesotan to really relate to me! Again...it is all of this that makes me feel totally uncomfortable when there is not a vacation to plan...even if it is 615 days away! :rotfl2:

I think we will do a lot of commiserating on our misery this winter!!!!

Very funny comments re: Minnesota!

By the time that storm rolls our way it will have warmed up here a bit - they're calling for 2-3" of rain... "oh what fun it is...."

Good Morning all.

Woke up to a few inches of snow. All the schools are closing (I know some of us just are not as strong as others. :rotfl:) The first snow storm of the season brings out the crazies.

I am at work :surfweb: but about one of the few here. With todays age most are working from home - now tell me why I am not :scratchin

Have a good day all.

:tinker: Janeanne

Good morning!

Our 1-3 inch forecast in upstate NY has now turned into 5-10 inches and we're now under a winter storm warning until 7:00PM. :headache:

Most, if not all schools are closed...

I'm glad this hit now instead of the weekend though because we are headed to NYC Friday night for some Xmas fun over the weekend!

Good Afternoon My Fellow Cruisers,,

This morning my dad and the kids and Bruce went to AK.....

My mom and I went to MK and saw the Jonas Brothers perfrom in front of the Castle for the Christmas Day Parade.....They sang four songs...It was AWESOME!! I have some video of it and will post it tonight....

Also, we were part of the parade look for us on Christmas Day...We saw Kelly Ripa again. Then we saw the floats, and the dancers coming down Main Street USA!! Such FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

That's so cool, what time did they perform? was it before the park opened? Did you have special tickets for it? I was planning on taking the kids up to see it but I was sick as a dog. I ended up having to take the auto train back home because I was too sick to drive and I didn't want the kids to miss any more school than they already have.

This is so true! You should see the sweaters start to come out when we get anywhere below 70 let alone 60. :rotfl:

Hey Friends!! Our cruise is so far away!!! but.. I recently got a pin so I booked the Polynesian for my son's 5th birthday in May!! woohoo!! Now.. this is our 1st time EVER to WDW! (how sad right?? my hubby and I are in our early 30s) I wanted to stay at a monorail resort since my youngest will be only 8months in May and narrowed by choices to CR or POLY. Anyone here have been there?? and your opinions please if you would like to share.. Thanks people:)

Personally, I don't think you can go wrong with either one. We love the Poly and the Contemporary. We just stayed at Bay Lake Tower this week which was wonderful. The monorail is so convenient specially with a baby. You're made a great choice.

We will be applying to schools there this spring! Both DH and I teach and if we could both get hired there in a decent area..we would so go!

I live in Hillsborough County (Tampa Bay Area) and we have very good schools, including the #1 elementary school in the state. I would avoid Polk County - not a good reputation

Good Luck - Living in Florida is awesome!!!
