Milano isn't much far from La Spezia - where DCL's ships usually dock -
so DGH and I could "organise" to meet up
or to have a nice "all Italian meal" together !!!

If you come by plane - let us know anyway : we could give you hints and usefull "local" advice !!! and maybe plan a meet as well !!!!

Think of DGH and me as ............... your PERSONAL Italian TA !!!!!!!!!!!
and I am serious !!!

However, I will not buy things from places I have not been, so unfortunately no Aulani stuff for me for quite a long time .

And on the shopping topic, who was it that posted that little travel bag from ebags a few months ago that I ended up buying? I love that little bag!!

Morning Everyone! It is a house cleaning and laundry day here so I am happy to take breaks on the DIS! DH had to go to work today but I got it off as part of the long weekend. I will be having lunch with some girlfriends and packing for the cabin as well. We will be leaving to go up to our lake place tonight and return home on Sunday so that we can spend Monday preparing for the 1st day of school.

I haven't focused on Aulani at all. Apparently it is something I need to do...! Have you all heard the speculation that DCL might be having another Hawaii cruise next year? In October, perhaps (there is a thread on this over on the main board). Not something we could do because of the kids being out of school for too long of a time. But... a fly there to stay at a Disney resort does have its appeal.

We would LOVE to do a DCL cruise to Hawaii but we need them to do it at a time when we won't miss school.

Yeah, with our points, lodging would not be an issue, but airfare from
Minnesota is insane to anywhere, and absurd to Hawaii!

You are right about airfare in MN...I am looking at options like flying someplace on the West Coast that Southwest goes to and then taking the flight to Hawaii from there. It is not that much cheaper though.

We want to go to Aulani also, but haven't picked a date yet. We have DCL booked for 2012 & 2013 so I expect Aulani will have to wait.

This thread is great, I watched the Dream leave the port today and wished we were all back onboard.

I am started to think that a Med cruise may be in our future. Wonderful people like Laura and Marco make you realize that visiting Italy is a must

We would like to do a Med cruise as well but again....it is the airfare to Europe that then puts that vacation in a very high price zone. Still, it will be on my radar because we really want to visit all of those areas!

Like a lot of you I'm strating to think about other vacations. Last year we did and RCL cruise on the Freedom of the Seas. We had a great time and now we are booked on the Allure of the Seas next Aug. 12. DS wants to try out the ship. However, the itinerary is a Western and we've been to most of the ports (there are some new ones though). So we may end up cancelling it, if we find something else we would rather do.
I also would like to do a Med cruise sometime.

Please tell me what you thought of your RCL cruise! We are debating other cruise lines (this is making my DS very upset) but are a bit nervous to do so. We LOVE DCL but are thinking of trying something new because of the ports and the price.

Laura - It is my wish that my family could visit Italy before Emily leaves for college (that is only 3 years from now). We would love to have you and Marco be our tour guides! Wouldn't that be a wonderful trip?

I was discussing other cruise lines with a friend last night, and my one requirement to try a new one was, that we could not be in any port with a Disney ship, or I would jump overboard!

The days over here just get better and better. I soo wish that we were on CC right now. I would give anything to be back there.

Bruce's Uncle is more like a father to him than his own father is. Has just been told he has lung cancer and it is really really bad. We are both beside ourselves.

So I probally will be MIA for a bit, while we deal with everything we have going on right now.

Hopefully, I will be able to stay in touch with you all!!

Neither of the 2 cruises we currently have booked for 2012 have very chatty groups. In fact, the Alaska one doesn't even have a thread started, so I joined the thread of the cruise the week before (plus, that was Beth's thread!). So, I'll just keep chatting here!

Laura ~ DH and I went on a med cruise 10 years ago but haven't been back since. Italy is always on our wish list and we do hope to go that way soon. When, notice I say when and not if, we go I will definitely let you and Marco know.

Just got a call back from DCL about my dining situation. They told me that yes there was an error on their part but that was about it. They told me that I was the only one in my party to have a problem with it. It would be great if anyone from my party would be willing to call him. He told me that someone in my party was contacted about the dining situation and who ever it was told them that we were all set and the dining was now PERFECT!! Really perfect for who since I was not seated with my parents!!

I know!!!!! Someone posted that the mugs at Marriott Hawaii, the mugs were $35!!!!! Makes me wonder how much an individual Coke would be!!!!

I was wondering if it would be cheaper to break up the flights. I think it would be cool to fly to LA and do Disneyland and then go to Hawaii!!!! Of course I would need to win the lottery first!!!!

Me too! I went to Italy when I graduated from college with my dad(we did a tour! We're Italian) I would love to go again though with DH and DS.

We really liked it. DS likes it better than Disney!!!!!! He liked the flowrider and being able to go down to the promenade and get pizza by himself!!! The promenade was neat. He also did the rock wall, mini golf and ice skating. We also ate at Johnny Rockets and used the pools. There was definitely a lot to do. Their island Coco Cay was okay. Not as good as CC and I didn't like the food. On the island they had a neat waterpark type thing,huge inflatables to climb on out in the water and a huge slide on land to go on. Of course they were extra $$. We bought the soda pkg, but it still was a pain, every time you wanted a drink you had to ask someone for it! You couldn't just get it yourself.I don't think it was that much cheaper than Disney, but then again we only booked it about 2 months before we sailed.

How's the flooding situation up your way doing? I was able to take the train today for the first time since the storm.... DW had a doctor's appt in Princeton on Monday she still hasn't been able to reschedule because of all the road issues there earlier this week.

Harry: All things considered we faired very well. No loss of electricity and our basement doesn't flood so, all in all, we are very lucky.

Since the only thing that makes us happier than being on a DCL cruise is to plan our next one we have been discussing a lot of plans. Here's what we have so far.

I am open to suggestion, Missy wants to do both Hawaii and Italy, but the order isn't important. I was just texting Chuck Maida and he is speculating (he is usually right) that the 2013 Med could be one way cruises from Rome and Venice including some Greek islands. This itineary works very well for Missy since her family is from a small town outside of Rome and she would like to spend a few days in Italy before or after the cruise.

For me, I love it when Sarah has friends to play with on vacation so if you guys or Beth's family (TinkerbellTwins) we there it would be great.

Perhaps, those of us on this thread interested in Italy and Hawaii can see if we can get together again.
