August 16, 2011, Disney Dream - Part 3

Some troubles here too !!
Yesterday we had a very heavy , violent hailstorm for about two hours !!!
It’s the first time in my life that I see : first , high humidity and hot weather ( 80°+ F )
and after a few minutes such a violent storm with temp. about 60° F !!!!

DGH and I were ( LUCKILY !! ) inside the supermarket ; street , roofs , ground in few minutes were covered by this “white stuff” .

I had left all of the windows open – as it was so hot : coming back home we found … hail on the floor , on furniture , everywhere …

Groups from our Civil Protecion Service promptly came out to help people : streets at some point seemed like … a river !!!
These photos have been taken (from my kitchen window ) about 2 hours after the storm …

I know that many of you are accostumed to such storms …
But to us it has been SCARY !!!

Well , we are fine , but many people have had major problems …
A family of three died , and many persons were injured by falling “items” …

As I said , thanks to God , we are fine !!!
I HAD to talk about it , it just seems so unreal ... for us , in June !!

Dd and I have been in Oregon since Thursday. We took the red eye home overnight and I'm still recovering.

My sister has successfully graduated from nursing school (at 43yo...she chucked her IT career and started over from scratch!)!

We were in southern Oregon flying in and out of Medford. At 4ish yesterday while we were walking around town about to find someplace for an early dinner I got a phone call from the AIRPORT (not the airline) telling me that our 8pm flight to San Francisco was cancelled and there weren't any other seats on ANY flights out of the airport until Monday!

We ended up driving over a few mountains for 1.5hrs to Klamath Falls to get on a flight from there. I thought that Medford's airport was small (only 6 gates) but Klamath Falls was microscopic! The woman that checked us in was later on the tarmac w/ ear protection guiding the plane out of THE gate!

It was all good, we actually got to San Francisco for our connecting flight earlier than we would have on our original flight.

I'm still trying to catch up w/ all the posts since Thursday!

Liked the first one better... this one was a little bit darker I guess, but still funny. I laughed a lot harder at the Bridesmaids!

Funny you should say Bridesmaids is funnier...My friend and I were going to go see Bridesmaids, but it was sold out and that's why we went to Hangover!! We are going to try again to see Bridesmaids on Wed.

Usually we see awesome pics of wonderful Disney food here on the DIS, but I had to post a shot of my dinner tonight... good 'ol American, heart-cloggin' BBQ

It wasn't all bad though... there's a bottle of Acqua Panna off to side not viewable in the picture

Nothing wrong with good ol' American bbq....although our bbq looks a little different here in NC!

Hello everyone!! I hope you all had a great weekend.
My weekend has been a rollercoaster, and right now I am waiting for our streak of bad luck to end. I thought it would have ended when we got home, but now it has hit my DD, which means money out of our pockets!
I don't know if I mentioned this, but on our way home from AZ we stopped and grabbed something to eat, and we got into a little accident in the parking lot (luckily it wasn't our fault), plus our A/C stopped blowing out of the vent, it only came out at our feet and top of dashboard. So we have to get that fixed!
Now, DD and her new fiance (as of last night) drove to Vegas from AZ yesterday and had a blowout on the freeway. They ended up being towed to a tire place where we (because they didn't have enough money) had to buy 2 new tires. And now she just called me and said her car was just broken into and they smashed in the rear window, but nothing in there to steal. I am now extremely nervous about them driving home tomorrow!

Wow, I hope things get better for you and your family! I see your daughter did get home ok! That's good.

I wish I had known about YES earlier! Too bad there's not a program for college students. Or maybe there is, and it's called the Disney College Program.

Funny you should say Bridesmaids is funnier...My friend and I were going to go see Bridesmaids, but it was sold out and that's why we went to Hangover!! We are going to try again to see Bridesmaids on Wed.

Allie's having a great time too, although I had to ask her what TTYL means - I felt really old! (By the way, if you are old like me, it means Talk To You Later).

The only problem is my older daughter, Elizabeth, is a bit jealous. If anyone has a 11-12 year old girl that would like to exchange emails, let us know!

Morning Everyone! It has been kind of quiet on our thread this week...everyone must be busy finishing up the school year.

I am feeling relieved today because last night I found the kid's passports! I knew that I had left them packed away with some Disney stuff but I couldn't remember exactly where that was. I mentioned it to the kids and they both knew exactly what box it was in and sure enough....there they were! That will teach me for not putting them in the safety deposit box! Actually, this will be their last trip with them because they will expire at the beginning of next year.

We are working hard on paying off the WDW portion of the trip now. The funny thing is that we have not told the kids we are going to WDW...they think we are going to stay in Florida but just drive around and enjoy some of the sites. We are planning on telling them that we want to stop at WDW after the cruise to shop and pick up a few things before we head off on our road trip across Florida. They have no clue that we will be pulling into the Poly for a 4 night stay! It is funny though because we have been talking about what we should do on our "road trip" and last night I said we should not book any hotels but should just drive and stay at any hotel under $50 a night. DH played along and we talked about how that could make for a really fun trip! Both kids didn't say a whole lot but you could tell they didn't know how to respond.

On a different note....anyone with a DS around age 11 who would like to e-mail another boy? We had booked this cruise with my sister in law and her kids but they ended up canceling. DS thought he would be hanging out with his cousin but now will on his own. He is a social kid so I know it won't be a problem to make friends on the ship but I thought it would be fun if he could chat with some kids in advance.
