Hello Everyone! It has been many days since I have posted....for 2 big reasons.

Here is the big one though...we will not be cruising with you all. We have talked about it and talked about it and have finally come to the realization that it is just not going to happen this time around. It is because of my job (there will be training going on that they will want me to attend), DH's job (it has been really rough and we just don't know what the future of it is going to be) and then in the end that it is not worth the job problems for a 5 night Disney Cruise.
.Jen

sorry to hear you won't be cruisin with us this time around...you'll be missed as I was looking forward to meeting you. Things happen for a reason so trust in your heart and know you are doing the right thing. Hope to sail with you soon :) Laurie

aaaaaawwwwww Jen --- this is so sad --- i don't know what to say -- ::hugs:::grouphug:

Hello Everyone! It has been many days since I have posted....for 2 big reasons.

First, our house has been a very sick sort of house but I think we are all finally feeling well. DS missed school all week long and we all still have a horrible cough. Finally feel like we are recovering.

In so many ways we are so very sad because we have such incredible friends here who are going. We will be driving to the east coast this summer to visit some of you because I just can't stand the thought that we won't see you.

Laura - I will be writing you an e-mail this weekend now that I am finally feeling better and I my heart is very sad that we will be missing you and Marco. :guilty: I wish I could figure out how to make it work but it is just not meant to be this time around.

I am not sure at this point how to handle the fact that I hold the whole website for the cruise and I am not going to take it down - I just do know that I also don't have a huge amount of time to add new things to it when we are not going. I will be talking with Kristin to see if she wants to work on the FE information but am open to ideas.

As I said, the whole family is sad that we are canceling the cruise but we all know that it is the right decision at this point.

Happy planning to all of you and I hope I will be welcome to "lurk" here and follow all the fun you all have!

Jen

I am so sorry that we won't get the opportunity to meet you! I totally understand the job piece, just 5 months ago I was laid off and not sure what I would do. As a pp said, you must do what is right for you and your family and only you know what is best.

Again, thank you for all of the work that you have done on the website and time spent in organizing things.

I would be very happy to work on the FE exchange, as homage to you! Maybe I can help Kristin if she wants to run it.

Wish you the very best!!

Karen

Oh no Jen, I am sad you are leaving us. Maybe we can meet sometime anyway? I understand your reasons though. You did a fantastic job on the sight and we will work out the FE.

WOW! Our school's raffle/carnival fundraiser is today, too. Your items are INCREDIBLE!!! How on earth did you get folks to donate such big items to auction? I'm sue it's going well for you based on all the effort you've put in.

I've booked 3 non-Disney hotels for before the cruise. I really want on property, but I'm CHEAP! We'll see where we end up. The plan right now is to stay on the ship in Nassau. Been there, done that. From what I've seen on the boards, lots of people do the same thing so the ship won't be as empty. I'll wave to everyone off the ship from the aquaduck. ;)

Any word on the FE? I want to start making my gifties but I want to see the breakdown of families. I know there was talk about folks getting no more than 20 cabins. Is that the plan? How/when will they be divided?

Just booked airfare :banana::banana: Originally I was only looking at Southwest and JetBlue because of the free bags, but talked to our friends last night who were booking Delta with miles so I looked them up this morning and they were cheapest, even adding bags for both ways. BDL to MCO is under $300. I'm happy (and even happier that I'm not driving now)

It sounds like a lot of us may be staying on the boat in Nassau, might not be too quiet afterall...but certainly less crowded than a sea day.

Interested in status of FE too, I know we're 5 months out but the OCD in me is starting to itch to get things moving.

The sun's shining, weather is mild. It's a great Saturday!:hippie: Enjoy the weekend.

I was wondering this too!

Jen, I'm sorry to hear this, but I certainly understand why! Thanks for everything you've done on the site, FE's and lanyards. I hope that you will still post from time to time! Good luck with everything and hope that your DH's job is ok! Take care!:grouphug:

Jen I'm sorry you are unable to make the cruise - it must have been a very hard decision.

Thank you so much for all your hard efforts.
Thinking of you xxx

Any thoughts anyone ??
Would you like a DIS meet aboard the DREAM ??
When / where should our DIS group meet up ??

:grouphug: laura

A dis meet would be great - we've always done them 3pm in the promanade lounge but I have no idea where to have one on the Dream ! Do you think 3 pm the day we board is still a good time?

Is anyone planning on doing any excursions in Nassau?

I'm considering the Blue Lagoon Beach day, has anyone done this one before?

We've already done the Atlantis/Comfort inn and I just don't feel like doing it again or spending that much money for a day trip. That was a great day though.

Our plan is to stay on the ship in Nassau :thumbsup2

If there's a support group for bags PLEASE let me know. Guilty!!:rotfl2:

I did mark on the calendar to pay the balance by May 1st so I can try to book online starting May 2nd (for Gold level). Trying for Palo dinner and Catamaran in Nassau. If it doesn't work out we'll just stay on the ship in Nassau.

Happy Friday!

Please can I join in the support group for bags and can I also start one for shoes ;)

Last holiday Dh got a little frustrated as I brought 10 pairs with me and took home 18 pairs OOPS- well they were a bargin!

We are not going to book any excursions - the only thing I would really like is Remy and I hope to go on my birthday so keep your fingers x for me - we are gold level too

:cheer2:

Hi Guys,
Since my last posting I've been looking at possible venues to hold our dis meet- I've searched the dis and also looked on the dcl website.
I have found two possible venues - what do you think?

1) Bon voyage lounge - deck 3 mid ship
Bon-Voyage-Bar-02.jpg

Not sure how busy it will be around there at 3pm if people are still boarding?

2) Waves - deck 12 aft
Waves-01.jpg

Looking around it has made me realise how much I dont know about the Dream-

I think I'll be spending my cruise wandering around and getting lost:rotfl:

Anyway just thought I'd get the ball rolling -;)

this looks so good! You need to post recipes along with photos...:)

Here you go !

orecchiette_cime_di_rapa.jpg

Orecchiette with Broccoli Rabe, or Orecchiette con Cime di Rapa: There are many recipes for this signature dish from Puglia. This particular one is quick and simple. To serve 4 you'll need:

Prep Time: 20 minutes

Cook Time: 20 minutes

Total Time: 40 minutes

Ingredients:
•1 pound (500 g) orecchiette

•2 1/4 pounds (1 k) broccoli rabe

•1 hot pepper, shredded

•2 cloves garlic, minced

•6 tablespoons olive oil

•Grated Pecorino Romano (not too sharp)

Preparation:

Pick over and clean the broccoli. Bring a pot of water to a boil, salt it, add the broccoli, and after a few minutes stir in the orecchiette and cook the two together until the orecchiette are done.

While the pasta's cooking, simmer the garlic and the pepper in the oil, taking care lest the garlic brown and become bitter. Drain the pasta and broccoli well, turn them out into the skillet with the oil and garlic, cook, stirring, for a few seconds to distribute the seasoning evenly, and serve with grated cheese.
