How do you sign up for this? Is it only for parties that have kids? I don't remember hearing anything about it on our last cruise on the Magic (in Jan).

Yes, it isn't much advertised ! :goodvibes WE have been about 7 times to Castaway Cay and ONLY on our last visit knew about that Treasure Hunt !!

I ASSUME THEY WILL STILL BE DOING IT in August for our cruise.

You find the "Treasure hunt" ( cannot remember the exact wording) in the PERSONAL NAVIGATOR - among the ACTIVITIES / excursions on Castaway Cay.I recall that you were to meet in a lounge with a Cast Member . 9.00-9.30 am:banana: to collect map /info /some hints .
You can do your hunt any time during the day.

It isn't FOR KIDS , I mean it's better done as a family ( with or without kids ) :  some clues were not easy to understand ... ;) maybe because English isn't our first language :rotfl:...
The hunt needs an ADULT to coordinate "efforts" !!! :)
but I think that kids will love to search for "things" and further hints along the way .
eg We two were HELPED by a lovely 9yo boy , who asked us what we were looking for at the post office ; :lovestruc we had been there for a few minutes without any luck ... but , as soon as I read him "the CLUE",
:lovestruc he shouted : that 's an L , the letter is there , don't you see it ??
( Yes, NOW we see the letter L , thankyou smart boy !!!! ).

So IMHO it's a very fun activity for families , with or without kids .
We were just two adults !!
but our table-mates' kids ( 11 and 16 yo) did the hunt by themselves and had a blast .

You walk quite a lot ,sometimes AWAY from bars/drinks dispensers ................ so be sure to bring water / juice with you .

We had lots of fun !!

Hope this helps.

Laura,

Glad that your feeling better. I am still soo very tired. I went back to the doctor yesterday and have to go back next week for another chest x-ray. They told me to really stay out of the cold and it is wicked cold here.

The doctors are worried since I have had a few lung problems before. My right lung I had to have 20% of it removed. So now that the left lung has pneumonia in it, it really makes it harder to breathe since both my lungs have something wrong with them!!

Kristin , I'm SO sorry :sad2: to hear that you are NOT YET  feeling well !!!
Take good care :lovestruc of yourself - and do whatever the doctors say !!
I know that it's hard when you don't breathe well , just REST whenever you need to !!! Do NOT overdo !!! :laundy:

I'm sure the problem will be over SOOOOOON !!!
:tinker::tinker::tinker::tinker::tinker::tinker:

I have been very busy making our ADR's as well. The kids are still into the whole Character meal thing.....so

CHef Mickey's (a breakfast and a Dinner),
1900 Park Fare
Cape May Cafe, and

Captain's Grill (never been here and there are no characters).

We wanted to to do the Hoop de Doo Revue and they were completely booked. Oh well.

Still planning on avoiding the parks, but we'll see....

Helen...Puppy is very cute. Good Luck!!

Are you doing 1900 for breakfast or dinner? We did breakfast last time and the mad hatter was there and he was hysterical! The kids had the best character interaction they have ever had. He sat at our table with the kids and when they were just stareing at him he started yelling "why are you stareing at me?" then he stared back at them. It was so funny. :lmao:
Helen, my son wants to come take your doggie. He's too cute, if you ever need a puppy sitter just let us know!

Kristin, Sounds like you are having a tough time of it. Stay inside and take it easy so that body of your can mend! The weather here has been strange -- warm, cold, warm, sleet/snow, warm and back to cold. I'm ready for spring!

Hi Everyone, Stopping in to say Hi, hope everyone is coping with this snowy winter, it's almost March though :cool1:

OMG that puppy is FULL of cuteness!!

I hope everyone feels better soon and all the trip planning helps with that. Sounds like we're the only ones going to WDW a few days before the cruise only. If I had been smart, maybe I would have booked for after the cruise (cheaper rates), but flights are already booked. Oh well... more time to get ready for school which always starts the Wed before Labor Day:mad: I've tentatively booked the Royal Plaza. Need to look into WDW hotels. I MAY do one character meal, but need to decide which one. It will be for the Princess since it's her first trip. :cool1:

Nope , WE too are going to WDW before the cruise ONLY !! :confused3

DGH needs to be back in Milan for his job :headache: shortly after the end of the cruise - so we'll just stop for a couple of days in NYC during out trip back to Europe !!!

princess: For your PRINCESS have you thought about Akersus ? It has PRINCESSES character meals for B / L / D !!!!

With all the info bouncing around about the Dream I wanted to share a great collection of photos, articles and videos that the PassPorter authors have put together from their three or four (I can't keep up!) trips on the Dream.

Disney Dream in Detail

Just reported on the PassPorter boards:

New, Lower AquaDuck Minimum Height
Adrienne Vincent-Phoenix ("AVP") over at MousePlanet reports that Disney Cruise Line has reduced the minimum height for tandem riders on AquaDuck, the "water coaster" on the Disney Dream. The new minimum height when riding tandem is 42 inches, reduced from the original 48 inches. As we had reported earlier, solo riders must be at least 54 inches tall to ride. Adrienne also reports that there is now a minimum age requirement for solo riders: Children under age 7 must ride tandem with another rider aged 14 or older.

I am still not sure ds (5yo) will ride it!

Just booked our flights today....I should not have waited they were higher today than yesterday but we are all set!!!!!!! Bring on Aug......:cool1::woohoo:
