August 16, 2011, Disney Dream - Part 2

I didn't know Rush was in town, are they playing at Nissan? I'm having flashbacks of when my hubby and I were dating, we were driving by the Caps center and an ad came on the radio that Rush was playing there that night and was about to start so I told him that Rush made me randy.....needless to say we made a quick U turn and went to the concert. He still won't let me forget that he didn't get any that night! Have fun at the show!

That is hysterical! Yeah, they were at Nissan, although it is sponsored by Jiffy Lube now. I actually sat and counted with my BFF, and it was my 7th show. I missed one two years ago because they were here close to my due date with my son.

We will also be at the Wilderness Lodge for our post-cruise stay! (Sunday through Friday)

My older one just turned 9yo in July and will be just barely 10yo when we sail. She has an email address but never uses it because she doesn't have anyone to email. If you decide to change your mind about surprising your dd... give me a yell!

Annnndddd... My dh loves Rush! He went to the concert here in Philly in July (on dd's bday!) and came home proudly wearing his RASH shirt! Dh is a drummer and may just have every cd Rush has ever made along w/ most of the DVDs as well. While I can appreciate them, I'm not that big of a fan.

How old is your son? Ours is 4.5yo and will be just a few weeks shy of starting kindergarten next year when we sail.

We will also be driving down next year. I looked into the auto train but w/ the surcharge for the van, we might as well be flying!

Our plan is to leave the Philly area on Saturday (8/13), stop overnight in South Carolina somewhere and arrive at Port Canaveral on the 14th. We will spend the day at the Kennedy Space Center on the 15th and then relax that night before boarding the Dream the next day.

It is so cool to "meet" everyone this early and get to know others before we get on the ship!

ETA: Okay it was more than three...but I talk too much which means I can't stop typing either! LOL

I think we will be having parallel vacations. Right now, Our plan is to leave on Friday night, get in town on Saturday and visit Downtown Disney. Sunday we are planning to visit Harry Potter World at Universal, then spend Monday at Kennedy Space Center.

My husband is a train nut, and because of that my two kids are also train nuts. Taking the auto train would have been awesome, but it looks like it would cost like three times the price that driving would cost. That is a bit painful. I am hoping for some sort of code to come out, but otherwise we will probably drive.

Jeff likes Rush, but he isn't the fan that I am. I have all the CD's and DVDs that I am aware of, so Jeff doesn't have much of a choice but to like them. He didn't get a shirt though, but I did. I suppose I am a bit of an anomaly in Rush fandom since I am one of the four female fans that they have. The most awesome thing is that it is the only event that I have ever been to where there was NO wait for the ladies room, but the men's room line was HUGE!

I forgot the rest of it! If I tell her, it would be awesome for her to have someone to get to know. She is about a year younger (She will be 9 June 1) but that probably is close enough, they'd be in the same club, wouldn't they? I can't decide what would be more fun, to tell her and let her get to know people beforehand, or totally blindside her with a huge surprise. This will be her first cruise without us traveling with friends, so she won't have a built in friend. Either way, I won't likely tell her until Christmas. I want to cut down on the 'How much LONGER?' talk.

My son will be 2 on October 1st. I don't have a clue how that tiny little baby that I brought home from the hospital turned into this great big walking and talking toddler. It seems like it happened overnight!

hi everyone, we'll be cruising with you next august! can't wait to see the dream and how it compares to the magic and wonder!

It's just dh and myself cruising, and we're celebrating my birthday and our anniversary. We're booked in stateroom 12014 which is a concierge one bed suite with verandah.

We're planning to stay at bcv 1br for 3 nights before the cruise, and then akv 1br concierge for 8 nights after.

Hi everyone,

Im very proud today and Im sure all the runners will be able to sympathise.

My Dh competed in the Great North Run today its a half marathan 13.1 miles to be exact and its very tough (lots of hills)

Well he knocked 3 mins off his time and completed in 2hr 7mins
50,000 compete in this race and its a big mixture of elite, charity and racers trying to do Pb's.

Looking forward this week to booking our post cruise hotel

Congrats to your DH!! The hills must have been torturous!

I was shopping at Target w/ the family last night and we HAD to go check out the Halloween costumes of course!!!

Ds (4.5yo) wound up with an Iron Man costume (not Iron Man though...War Machine) and dd (9yo) was disappointed in the selection and is still looking.

While there I came across a SEVEN dollar boys pirate costume!! Not hugely high quality but well worth it for one night's wearing while on the ship next year!

I purchased it one size larger than what ds is right now and it will be perfect for him!

Now I just have to keep my eyes open for the rest of us! (although dh has already said he won't wear a costume, I have talked him into wearing a piratey bandana w/ a hoop earring)

Hey, those are dates too. Is that Sunday to Sunday? I am going to wait for SW to come out next week. Thinking, if the flights are better for Friday the 15th I may try to do that and come home the Monday after Easter!!

Hello All! Just got off the member cruise and am so looking forward to this cruise. The weather at Castaway Cay was gorgeous. We had such a smooth sailing. I was so thankful that the hurricanes stayed away. It was a fantastic trip! On the cruise, they did a presentation about the Disney Dream. I was late to the presentation but from what I did see it is going to be a beautiful ship!

Yay, Kristin! We'll be in Daytona Beach before the cruise. We can't stay after the cruise because we have to get Kevin back in time for football practice...

Busy week here - 6th grade Open House tonight, Kevin is going to the Nickelback concert and Tess has cheer practice tonight. This weekend is a JV football game against my old high school, Pop Warner PeeWee game and my 20th law school reunion. I'll fit it all in somehow...

Me too ! I've booked our post cruise stay - we have booked a 1 bedroom at BWV but am thinking we might change at the 7 month window. Im still very excited we have to phone about out flight tomorrow and am going to try and use the virgin airmiles we have been collecting - Keep your fingers x.

We're DVC members and just booked 2 nights before our cruise in a 2 BR at the BCV. We are doing a BTB, so this is the 10th! Won't think about airfare until Jetblue and Southwest release fares. Planning on doing Universal (for Harry Potter) before we check into BCV.

DBF is a drummer, and Neil Peart is one on the best in the world, so naturally he's been a big fan for many years.

I was in the Color Guard in my HS band, and over the course of the years I dated a few different guys from the drum line and the constant argument was always, 'Who was better, Neil Peart or John Bonham from Led Zeppelin.' Eventually I got tired of hearing the argument so I married a trombone player, although we met WAY after high school was over. It worked out better for me anyway as I played the tuba during concert band, so low brass was the way to go. Hahahahahahahaha!
