We don't act our age, other than early to bed, early to rise (mainly due to our work schedules), looking forward to meeting you! I think when we were on the cruise 10 years ago (we were 40 & 42 at the time) there were alot of people our age on the ship, so we were just kind of curious regarding the demographics of the ship these days. Not that we care, really, after all, we are on a Disney Cruise, life just doesn't get much better than that! I think when we were on that cruise they told us there were 900 kids on the ship, and even though it was just the two of us on a honeymoon, it didn't bother us at all to have so many kids around - we loved watching all the happy kids - of course we were happy kids too

You are not alone! I'm 53 and DH will be celebrating his 52nd birthday while we are on the cruise on August 20.

On our previous Alaskan cruises, we were on the YOUNG side.

Are you two cruising alone, like we are? or with kids/grandkids? How fun to be celebrating a birthday on the ship - I wonder if they do anything special? We will be celebrating our 10th anniversary, although it will have already passed us by, as I thought it would be too chilly cruising' next week, so put off cruisin' until August!

We got married in 2003 and did our honeymoon in 2005- our first Alaskan cruise. That was with Princess though and there were almost NO kids on the ship at all. We love DCL cruises though as having all the kids around is fine with us, too. They are usually happy and pretty cute when all dressed up .

We are alone, too. No kids or grandkids (although we often take nieces and nephews to WDW with us.) They do celebrate events on a night you select with a cake for dessert at your dinner. It isn't a great cake though, the regular desserts are usually much better tasting.

Any interest in requesting to dine together? I see you're in main dining, too.

I'll send you a PM and we can have our reservations tied to request seating together. I've done that on one previous cruise using my TA and it was easy.

We don't have a black kitty but we do have two cats and a 6 month old puppy, too.

Yes, just the two of us. We went on a Disney Cruise a few years ago and had an amazing time and met so many friends.

We don't have a black kitty but we do have two cats and a 6 month old puppy, too.

We have two cats (one is black with a bit of white and one is a tabby) and a puppy. All rescue animals.

It's funny, there was a ship-full of kids on our first DCL sailing and I didn' mind one bit, but I did have to develop a special coping strategy...

When walking around the ship I began to lower my line of sight by about a foot! It only took one kid zooming across my path without paying attention, and I spent the rest of the trip looking at the floor everywhere I went. Kids just don't have the same personal space requirements as adults!

On our second sailing (2010 EBTA) there were less than 400 kids on the ship, that sailing was a comparative ghost town. And I just walked as I pleased.

My DH is a pin collector, not really a pin trader. I think he has all but just a couple of the Incredibles pin series from around the world. They fill a vest that he wears in the parks. He also keeps a lanyard of pins that kids tend to like so that when I child asks him to trade pins, he just tells the kid to pick whatever he or she wants from the lanyard and replace it with any pin they'd like to trade. Kids love it! Keeps them from being too disappointed that they can't trade for one of the Incredibles pins.

There will be special times for trading pins with the DCL officers on board. Usually right around early dinner time near guest services. It will be listed in the Navigator.

If you'd like to be seated at dinner with fellow cruisers from our thread, you can ask Disney to link your reservations for dining purposes. Siburdue and her DH will be sitting with me and my DH. I told my TA that we don't mind if we are seated at a larger table with more people with us as long as the four of us were seated together. Anyone else want to join us? I personally think a table for 6 to 8 people is the perfect size if I'm not going to be sitting just with DH alone.

So my suggestion is that if you see a family on the list who has the same dining time as you, consider linking reserations to be able to sit together. You'll know you have at least one thing in common with the other family- this thread!
