August 16, 2011 – 7 Night Alaska Sailing

Juldara:

All the tours below are currently unavailable:
The Bundled 3 port adventures:
3 Port Package for Families No reservations available.

3 Port Package for Young Families No reservations available.

3-Port Package for Adventure Seekers No reservations available.

3-Port Ultimate Flightseeing Package No reservations available.

Juneau:
Disney Exclusive Glacier Dog Musher for a Day
Juneau by Private Jeep
Private Boat - Salmon Fishing Charter
Whale Watching and Salmon Bake

Ketchikan:
Private Skiff

Skagway:
All still available

The 3-Port packages were unavailable the very minute that booking was open for concierge or platinum. I think they are actually placeholds for the activities provided by Adventures by Disney.
All of the individual exursions listed in the 3-port package are still available individually (or at least they were when last I checked).

My daughter is working on a project at school, and was wondering if she could ask what everyone's favorite colors are.

Mine is blue

Would any of the kind repeat cruisers be willing to keep us updated on the sold out excursions after the next booking window (for silver I believe?) opens up? I'm a newbie here and although I have a list of my top 5-10 picks for each port in case the ones I want are unavailable, I would love to know what my chances are when before I go to book on June 2nd.

I wouldn't expect an update every day, but maybe one the day after the silver booking window opens and then maybe again about a week later?

I'm pretty sure that all the ones I've picked won't be sold out (since I have lots that I'd like to do), but I'm such a planner and not knowing is driving me crazy and it's bound to get worse as my booking window gets closer!

:lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc to anyone who helps sate my craziness next week!

Aby

PS. My favorite color is also BLUE!

Believe it or not I don't really have a favorite color. I like to decorate with blues but I like to wear red. So I guess she could pick one of those ;).

I would be happy to report back on the 18th with the list of sold out excursions.

My favorite changes a lot, but at the moment it is Green.

Aby,

I have been looking daily and will post any changes.

So far nothing has changed from the previous posts.

Mellers...

I'm in favor of blue.

Thank you Mrs. Gumdrop and NickCapp! I appreciate the help! :worship:

Dear Aby,

FWIW, we are sailing on Aug 2nd. I have booked 3 non-DCL excursions that match DCL offerings. If you aren't wedded to DCL's 'insurance' policy, you might pm me for information. I was particularly peeved that DCL was insisting on my 10 yr old being an "adult."

P.S. I started tracking this thread b/c of MrsJobba - with whom I sailed a few years ago.

Aby and Joycsk,

You might also want to look at posts #180, #187, and #195 (starts on page 12). It's a comparison and a list of some outside providers for various excursions.

For various reasons, I'm going to stick with the DCL excursions. Thanks for the information though - I appreciate the thoughts!

Aby

Generally speaking green (especially forest and lime ... not mint or kelly), but it depends on the reason.

Hi All,

Since I've lived outside Seattle for about 5 years now, I found a couple of tricks for changing money.

1. If you are going to Victoria first, and taking the Victoria Clipper, hand them a large US bill and ask for change in Canadian dollars. Given the current exchange rates, they will usually oblige.

2. If you are riding the QuickShuttle, ask if your driver can offer you change in Canadian for a large US bill (or vice versa going home). Particularly for a good tip, most drivers will oblige, and they need cash in both countries.

If you aren't taking one of these conveyances, use your ATM card at the airport/hotel/local 7-11 (Make sure somebody stands right behind you--I was robbed at an ATM in London.) Don't change your money at the travel exchange stations--they will rob you blind.

If we will only be in Vancouver the night before the cruise, is it really necessary to change money? Would the places in the food court at Canada Place accept US Dollars at all?

Thanks!

In the same vein as changing currency: I plan on using my ATM card at bank and using my credit card whenever I can. Capital One does not charge a conversion fee in addition to the exchange rate. As of today I think the Canadian dollar has about 2 cents on the American dollar...many places are treating it as a wash.
