Since we're totally going non traditional and a little different with everything, I thought I would start a planning journal too!

I met Chris on Remembrance Day 2009 - tomorrow is our 6 month anniversary! We met online, but had some mutual friends (yaa small town!) so we "pre-checked" each other out before we actually met in person. I was single for a while because single mom+work full time+volunteer nut+university full time+won't-waste-my-time-dating-for-the-sake-of-dating=one very single but busy girl :D

We first saw each other at a parking metre at Boston Pizza with mutual grins (aren't we romantic?) and babbled to each other over pizza at lunch. We went for a Timmies run, and 10 minutes into a post lunch drive (we didn't want to let each other go) I held his hand and then I knew for SURE! That was it. :)

He called me up two hours later and asked if I wanted to go for a drive. Our "drive" ended up lasting for 14 hours, where we parked at the lake and talked until the sun came up. We meshed from the very start and he met my daughters the next day. I'm overprotective - I dated someone once for four months and he didn't get to meet my girls!

The girls ate him up, and he moved in with us 3 weeks later (he spent all his free time hanging out at our house!). He works nights, I work days, but we make it work! We spent pre-Christmas scheming and planning an amazing Christmas for us and my daughters, and he staggered me on Christmas morning by proposing after the presents were open with a new white-gold family ring that I had been eyeing up under homemade mistletoe he made me because we couldn't find any to buy in our little town.

Six months (tomorrow!) later he amazes me every day, the girls have adopted him (and he is adopting them shortly!) as one of their own, and not a single argument or disagreement has popped up yet. We agree on everything (expect he has a fondness for Country music that still confuses me) and I love him more every single day and moment we are together :) I think we are both so tickled and delighted to have found each other that we are determined to keep this in a "honeymoon period" (as my buddies pointed out to me) permanently.

For my birthday he came home from a 14 hour shift, woke up my daughters, and they decorated the house with princess decorations, made me a crown cake (with sugar cookies as the ridges!), and woke me up with a princess bathrobe, crown, pancakes with candles, and my favorite chair decorated with streamers and balloons as my throne for the day. WELL! Both of us had crappy childhoods so we are pretty similar in parenting and how kids should grow up and the things we missed out on so his ideas always hit the mark :D

We were originally going to tie the knot in Disney Nov 11 (1 year from the day we met) BUT he got accepted to go back to school in September and I graduate in August AND the kids are off school.... so 8/9/10 seemed an amazing date for us.

W00t!
That is us in a nutshell. Two peas in a pod and just plain delighted.

Now on to the planning I've done (I was either a wedding planner or travel agent in a previous life.... done this for friends but never for myself before!)....

Because I could.

I love planning weddings and events and big parties in general so this has turned into my hobby. Sure I live on Facebook, but most of my family doesn't so I created it mainly as a permanent home for our wedding and trip pictures.

And because I am an uber nerd. :surfweb:

Eventually I want everything up on there from trip planning to all the weird things I came across planning blog-style. For now, it is soccer season and work is busy and I'm trying to finish a degree here so it is mainly event info for friends and family!

allears.me - pretty plain for now but will be prettied up later. Super cheap to host at godaddy ($80 for the year for domain AND webhosting AND all the free technical goodies I could want!).

My friends are as snarky as me :D

Our official wedding attire which I plan on trashing during a TTD a few hours after our ceremony ....

My dress, which I have never tried on or even seen in person but DID order from a Bridal Store who thought it was cute I tried on two dresses and then went with my original plan :

Yes. I have clover as my wedding color - SO pretty!

My 10 year old is wearing the same dress (mini bridal) in the clover as well:

ourdresses.jpg

My 12 year old tomboy was not going to wear a dress - but we made a bet. If I lost 20 pounds before the wedding she would wear anything I wanted. Well chickie, I'm at 14 lbs lost so far with 90 days to go. HA!

morgan.jpg

She will wear white leggings with it and tennis shoes. I'm not THAT mean :D

The love of my life picked out just about the smexiest tux ever:

But my bridal store is making a bow tie for him - they ordered an extra meter of the same clover material that is in my dress!

:lovestruc

Hopefully when we get all the dresses in for the first fitting I'll actually like the gown in person!!

This will most likely be our only deluxe resort stay, most likely the only time we get waterpark+more/park hopper passes.... AND our first Disney trip AND our wedding/family honeymoon (W00t to Cancun in November with no kids *ahem*!)

Here is the schedule so far. I can't do the Fantasmic Dinner Package (all booked up :( ...) and decided to skip the Wishes Fireworks Party since we're eating so much already and really just need MORE PARK TIME TO PLAY!!

I totally love your dress! What other colors does it come in???? So pretty! Also very impressed with your daily planning! My DH always says I plan too much! Glad to see I'm not the only one who wants to best utilize my time :). Sounds beautiful! You're sure to have a fabulous time!!!!

just one question... marriage license? I share your wedding date and we are flying in the Thursday before so we can get the license on Friday.

Other than that your plans look great, my dress is also an Alfred Angelo dress, I love that they come in so many colours.

We are so doing the license by mail. I have to pick up my daughters from summer camp on the 8th of August in Manitoba, then leave the next day at 330AM to drive to Winnipeg to catch a plane. THEN the next morning we are up at 330 for hair and makeup! EEK! :)

Oh I SO do love the dress. A lot a lot. Amazing ... Alfred Angelo is just shockingly brilliant!!

I believe they come in... 24 different colors? And there are so many styles, as well as bridesmaids styles in the same dream in color collection!!

55 colours and he is brilliant I knew I was going to have red in my dress and there were so many different ways it could work with his dresses.

Good choice for the license by mail thing, we're able to get down before so I figured that was one less thing we could possibly leave at home (:scared1:) if we did it through the mail.

I love the assortment of bridesmaids dresses and flower girl dresses too!

AND my bridal shop was able to order an extra meter of material for me AND they are making a bow tie for him! (in the same clover)!

When mailing in a money order for the deposit for your wedding:

1 - Make sure the grandma working at the post office remembers to put enough postage on it. Make sure your Expresspost is actually United States and not Regional

2 - Make sure the money order you get from your bank is able to be CASHED in the United States

3 - Get Joe as a consultant. He rocks :D

Seriously. Can you tell I ran into some trouble getting my deposit to Disney? Joe must think I'm a total blonde. Thankfully he has a sense of humour AND I kept in touch with him!! :)

I have one! I have one!
Make sure you keep the piece of the money order you are supposed to. I forgot when I mailed mine to the officiant, thankfully nothing went wrong otherwise we would not have been able to cancel it.:scared:

Just found out yesterday from Department of Defense that Morgan (my daughter) is coming back 2 days late from cadet camp in Alberta....

(deep breath)

We are now coming to Disney a week later!

(panting from stress, can't breathe well)

Need to:
change wedding date (crap - already sent in deposit and less than 3 months to wedding date - gave Disney 2 dates and two locations but today is a HOLIDAY so panic setting in)

change trip date (done! W00t!)

change official (I hope he is free :( ..... Jack Day is my hero!)

change MK photo shoot

change wedding steaming appointment, tux rental

change trash the dress I JUST booked (ack!)

change our ENTIRE SCHEDULE AND ALL DINING RESERVATIONS AND pirate makeovers and and and and.....

waa. :drive: me crazy now.

Any good advice from smart people? Flexibility and sucking up come to mind.

Ack.

Deal with my tomboy was if I could lose 20 pounds before we get married, she has to wear a dress. She is 12, likes to wear jeans and hoodies, and hasn't worn a dress in 2 years (she is pretty proud of the fact!)

.... well I informed missy that today she LOST the bet since I've lost 23 pounds so far. HA! I showed her the dress she has to now wear (which I ordered a month ago!) and told her she is wearing white running shoes and leggings with it so it technically is the most tomboy dress there is from Alfred Angelo that matches our dresses.

 I win!

Congratulations on winning your bet! Losing 23 pounds is a great feat! I am sorry that you have to change all of your schedule! It sounds like you are going to be on the phone quite a bit!

Changing the date was a BRILLIANT move for SO many reasons!

1 - I had to. Silly cadets going to the mall!
2 - I got on the Disney dining free plan!
3 - I got the wedding location I originally wanted - Sea Breeze Point!

So karma has my back today. I might be out of Karma points though! Now just on to change ALL my ADRs, childcare bookings, official, steaming, tux rental etc etc etc etc, trash the dress....

ugh. :D

BUT my trip/hotel, airflight, meals, tickets and EVERYTHING is now 100% paid for ! I just need to give Disney weddings $4000+1100+800, and save up some extra spending $/dress alterations/photo and official money and maybe apply for my marriage license soon :D

*whew*
I had a busy lunch hour! New wedding date: August 16 2010 at Sea Breeze Point on the Boardwalk!

How do I change the title of this thread?
Ugh :(
Brain shutting down, need chocolate !

*update* - geez and I am an IT networking goddess professionally. Never mind got the thread title changed!*

Glad you got all of the wedding stuff changed without problems and with some good things happening too.

(I am also quietly happy I'm the only 8.9.10 bride on here again but we'll keep that between you and me)

Hope you have some luck changing your ADRs I would try the new online system and just pick a park and a mealtime (B, L, D) and let it tell you what's available where you want it, it helped me sqeeze DF's family in at Epcot on the Saturday before the wedding when Rose and Crown was all booked up.

Changed the official - Jack Day might be the cutest thing ever :D I just love listening to his voicemails!

Changed ALL the ADRs I had made. Couldn't get Spirit of Aloha or Chef Mickey back with 77 days to go, SO I got Hoop Dee Doo, Sci Fi and added Beirgarden! Ommpah band!! Might be the most excited I am about a restaurant !

Confirmed wedding date again with Karen. Got turned down for a family trash the dress at Blizzard Beach. So fine then Disney pirates, we are still doing a Trash the Dress with Randy Chapman (HA!) AND the MK photo shoot the morning of the wedding!

Canceled child care. Since we are in value now (I decided saving $4000 with free dining and downgrade in a hotel we will never be in was worth it!!) going to book Kids Nite Out for the wedding morning as well as one evening out now.

Also going to buy extra arcade credits for the kids and send them away to a pool side movie so we can have some honeymoon cuddle time :D (they are 10 and 12!)

Not bad for one days work :D Ever got Cinderella's Palace as a reservation today for supper with only 77 days out!!

:cheer2:
