Since we're totally going non traditional and a little different with everything, I thought I would start a planning journal too!
I met Chris on Remembrance Day 2009 - tomorrow is our 6 month anniversary! We met online, but had some mutual friends (yaa small town!) so we "pre-checked" each other out before we actually met in person. I was single for a while because single mom+work full time+volunteer nut+university full time+won't-waste-my-time-dating-for-the-sake-of-dating=one very single but busy girl
We first saw each other at a parking metre at Boston Pizza with mutual grins (aren't we romantic?) and babbled to each other over pizza at lunch. We went for a Timmies run, and 10 minutes into a post lunch drive (we didn't want to let each other go) I held his hand and then I knew for SURE! That was it.
He called me up two hours later and asked if I wanted to go for a drive. Our "drive" ended up lasting for 14 hours, where we parked at the lake and talked until the sun came up. We meshed from the very start and he met my daughters the next day. I'm overprotective - I dated someone once for four months and he didn't get to meet my girls!
The girls ate him up, and he moved in with us 3 weeks later (he spent all his free time hanging out at our house!). He works nights, I work days, but we make it work! We spent pre-Christmas scheming and planning an amazing Christmas for us and my daughters, and he staggered me on Christmas morning by proposing after the presents were open with a new white-gold family ring that I had been eyeing up under homemade mistletoe he made me because we couldn't find any to buy in our little town.
Six months (tomorrow!) later he amazes me every day, the girls have adopted him (and he is adopting them shortly!) as one of their own, and not a single argument or disagreement has popped up yet. We agree on everything (expect he has a fondness for Country music that still confuses me) and I love him more every single day and moment we are together
I think we are both so tickled and delighted to have found each other that we are determined to keep this in a "honeymoon period" (as my buddies pointed out to me) permanently.
For my birthday he came home from a 14 hour shift, woke up my daughters, and they decorated the house with princess decorations, made me a crown cake (with sugar cookies as the ridges!), and woke me up with a princess bathrobe, crown, pancakes with candles, and my favorite chair decorated with streamers and balloons as my throne for the day. WELL! Both of us had crappy childhoods so we are pretty similar in parenting and how kids should grow up and the things we missed out on so his ideas always hit the mark
We were originally going to tie the knot in Disney Nov 11 (1 year from the day we met) BUT he got accepted to go back to school in September and I graduate in August AND the kids are off school.... so 8/9/10 seemed an amazing date for us.
W00t!
That is us in a nutshell. Two peas in a pod and just plain delighted.
Now on to the planning I've done (I was either a wedding planner or travel agent in a previous life.... done this for friends but never for myself before!)....
