August 15-24 trippers UNITE!

Still waiting to call Disneys bluff, I am sure there will be a discount.

However, the big question for my family is will the discount be good enough?

For me, unless I get a free dining pin I will be booking off site. I have a family of 5 and the free dining promo for us is the ONLY way we stay on site because it is the only way we can afford to do on site. The cost of feeding my family on site for 10 days is just too much for our budget.

So we shall see...I have to say I have been to Disney 3 times always FD. The lack of codes have dampened my feel for another Disney trip, I am just not as excited as I usually am.
If I had not booked the non refundable flight, I would have cancelled.

I find myself going to the dark side and skimming all inclusive deals for my family for non-disney trips.

I'm thinking Not-- hope I'm wrong, but alot of us did book with the 20 percent off pin for this week back in Jan. when they sent it out. I definetly do not think they will offer FD --- however, a 30 or 40 percent off would actually be an even better offer, as we would not spend as much on food as that discount would be. I don't know why I feel this way, except that it seems wierd to think they would just come out now with something for the only week they didn't already offer something. I'm thinking this 20 percent is the best I'll do.
I've heard Universal is offering deals, though I don't really know about that or for when, but you could consider that. With a rental car there is alot you could do. Some friends of mine get great deals at the hotels that border near DTD, a couple of them even have shuttles and food credits. They look into that through mousesavers.

Ugh I'm soooo torn! I really, really want to go Aug 16-23. As a room-only traveler, I would think it's a good week because people who were thinking about that time would've pushed it back a week to hit the free dining. (I was there once when Free Dining started half-way through my trip. It was DEAD the first few days then mayhem on the first day of free dining.)

BUT I have a pin code good through mid-August. So do I get the sure thing? Or do I hold out hope for a discount for the dates I really want to go and risk the chance of missing out on the other? It's so frustrating!

Sorry for not responding to this earlier: the AAA coupon I found was a print coupon in a magazine. Here's a link to it:

http://www.readoz.com/publication/read?i=1048135&pg=13#page12

I used that and got another $200 after the original 10% off of the room for this week. I will get the $200 even if a better discount comes out.

You have to be a AAA member, and I think you need to have a package booked with AAA. It can't hurt to ask.

I have to add that my AAA agent rocks. :cheer2: She did all my extra fireworks and storytelling reservations right up front, and she really knows Disney inside and out. Awesome experience.

I am thinking not too:sad2: I am trying to get excited about a new different type of adventure/trip, but deep down not sure I will be happy.

I keep reminding myself of how many TR's I have read about people who use to stay on site, but then fell in love with off site...yet, I keep feeling like I am trying to hard to convince myself...

DRAT, I wish I were rich! and or at least had a bigger budget:lmao:

Just keep swimming, Just keep swimming, I am lucky I am even going to Disney:upsidedow

I am in the same position as all of you. We are scheduled to be there from Aug 16th to Aug 24th.

My dh and I are both teachers and ds1 teaches bio labs at a local community college (Send lots of PD that he gets a full time job there before we leave in Aug) and Ds2 is a grad student who is finishing up his first two grad courses this summer (he graduates May 11). We are booked for 3 nights and then spending 5 nights with dsis and her DVC points for a 3 bedroom at BLT TPV.

I have never been to DW without a room discount. I could care less about the FD since we don't eat that much. We have always had a discount. Even when we planned the trip one month out I got a discount.

I am glad I found this thread.

Could you tell me the cost comparison? I looked at renting a studio and 1 bedroom villa and even at AKV Value, the studio is about the same price and the one bedroom is almost twice the cost!

Also, the floor plan of the studio looks about the same as a hotel room. We are a family of only three, so I'm trying to see where it would make sense. There are not enough beds (my DD15 will complain if she has to sleep on a fold out!) and there are no additional ammenities....Am I missing something?

Perhaps the difference is that we are not a big family. I have never even seen a villa, so please tell me if I am mistaken!

Sure, our preferred room at POP was going to be $1328 and our AKLV studio in Jambo is just over $1700. We rented points for the Villa.
Yes the second bed is a pullout but our DD14 will not be complaining since we will be at AKL and she can always stay home! (not really) What ammenities are you asking about? There is no daily maid service but we don't have that at home either... lol You do get a kitchen area in the DVC's which we will put to good use in the mornings! It is a huge savings! To get the DVC room from Disney directly would be over $3200 so we are happy with the choice! You should look into it!

arrdee11462: thanks for the info! For you, it doesn't seem like a big difference. Here's how our numbers look:

AAA discounted room for 5 nights: $787.65
Coronado Springs, 2 Queens

Value Studio room at AKV: $767
I don't think the studios have a laundry
and I don't think there is any more square footage than
a regular hotel room and DD15 will have to sleep
on a pull out

1 bedroom at Value AKV: $1612
DD15 would still have to sleep on a pullout
Kitchen and laundry are inlcuded and a second bath.

Is there a different transportation service? I just can't justify the cost for breakfast alone. I don't plan on cooking a great deal and since there are just three of us, I don't think that we need a lot of room.

Is there some other advantage I am not thinking of?

New discount out today for 8/15-9/29!

20% off select values
25% off select moderates
30% off select deluxes

I don't know about the laundry, we never use it, they just ran a discount for our times so go check the numbers today! Ours still saves us more that the 30% but for you it should work out great! Have a great trip and let me know how you like coronado if you stay there. It's one we have not tried yet! :)

It looks like Pop is only being discounted at 5% under this offer though (I plugged in travel dates on WDW's website and did the math) and that may be the case for the other unlisted resorts too. The AOA and AS Music family suites appear to be excluded from the offer. Hope this new discount works out for some of you all who have been waiting for something. Good luck!

:fish:20% off at POR is just not that big enough saving for our family. We would still have to eat on site and for us that is big bucks each day with tips and cost of meals off sit is our only option. :(:(

I have to hope for a pin code (plan A), I will have to make a decision soon.

I already have an emergency contingency plan booking but really want disney.

I got a 2 bedroom at the the Marriot Fairfield for a family suite ( 2 bedroom) for less than 60 this is plan C. I plan on booking bonnet creek at 60 days (plan B), but have the fairfield ressie in case something does not go according to plan.

uggh, really sad this will be the first time not on site, but even with the cost of car rental, supermarket and parking it still will be less than FD for a 2 bedroom (for either option B or C)

I am happy for the people this code works for:thumbsup2

just keep swimming, just keep swimming:fish::fish::fish:

I just saved $150 on my 3 nights. I am happy :banana::banana: Good luck everyone.

We are saving $114 for our stay at ASMO. I'll take it! That means 50's PT will be one less cost, with what we are saving.
Glad we got some pixie dust!pixiedust:

We already booked under a pin offered in Jan. for 20 % off POR, but I think I'm going to check out some numbers on the 30% deals for deluxe.

I saved another $50 off the AAA rate!!!

I just saved $150 for the same room I had. Was quick and easy. I finally got my discount.

Is there any way to find out when or if they decide to add AoA to the discount list? I know it is unlikely because it is brand new but was wondering how you find out if they do. Is it a matter of checking every day? Where do you get your updates?
Thanks,
Heidi
