Your pictures are incredible - how quickly I forget what it is like to live with snow. Just keep thinking about the great sunshine Disney has a program where you can volunteer for a day and they will give you a ticket for the day for one of the parks. We decided at work to have a group of employees do this so we could donate our tickets to the local boys and girls club or the make-a-wish foundation. My daughter and I have volunteered for the day and are headed out to set up a health fair in New Port Richey. Will give you an update later.

Yes, we are signed up for the GAD program too...actually, we are all supposed to volunteer at a food bank this Wed. evening...now they are calling for more snow Tues. nite into Wed. morning so I am hoping it doesn't get cancelled!!! We are going to WDW for spring break...we have Annual Passes so don't need the free park ticket but we can use the vouchers for special fast pass cards. They only do the food bank thing once a month & they said they've been hit with a lot of requests...the March one may be too late for us to get the vouchers before our trip so I am really hoping it doesn't snow TOOOO much again!! We are "DONE" and "OVER" all of this snow!!!! I had a hard time finding something to do on the GAD list that DS12 could participate in too...a lot of the things were age 15+.

Welcome aboard the cruise meet thread for the MAGIC sailing the Med on August 13, 2011!!

Well, so I know I am not entirely alone on this boat as I just transferred my ressie from SPH cabin # 5020 on the July 20 10-night Med to #5020 on this 7-night Med and there's only 1 other SPH cabin left!! So I hope someone will join in here soon so I don't have to talk to myself for TOOOOO long!

I decided to name this meet thread based on my own bouncing around from one date to another for this Med cruise. The third time MUST be the charm!! I started out booking on day # 1 of the itinerary release for the original 10 night August 10 cruise. Then DCL suspended sales & we flipped to the July 20 one to preserve our SPH cabin. Then they announced the 7 night cruises and we became torn about staying with the 10 night or flipping again back to August (which is a better month for us to vacation). But we really wanted to try to do the 10 night cruise so we hung in with that one for awhile. THEN DH's car blew up last week (oil pump, timing chain, timing belt, valves, cylinders - the whole engine)!! The repair bill is going to be over $7 grand!! So with a heavy heart this car repair has pushed our decision to switch to 7 nights while we could still snag "our" SPH cabin. HENCE the reason I had to use "marauding" in the title!!!

So who else is with me on this beeg 'ole boat!? Me = DH and 1 DS (who will be 14 when we go) and myself.

I am a planning fanatic!! I keep telling myself that the 7 night will work out just fine as we plan to sandwich it inbeween a few nights in Barcelona pre-cruise and a few nights in Paris post-cruise (or vice versa). The money saved from the extra 3 nights will certainly help pay for several excursions!

I am new to these boards and this will be our first DCL cruise. I just thought I would say Hi and it looks as if we are going to be neighbours on the cruise as our stateroom is 5022.
Cruising will be myself, DH DS age 6 and DD age 4.

WOW! A real newbie!! Your first post!! Welcome aboard!! Yes, we will be next door neighbors! I KNEW we weren't alone on this boat!! You've booked a great room IMHO. We sailed in 5520 on the Wonder last year - fantastic bargains these SPH rooms!! (I have pics I can post if you've never seen any. The views are very similar.)

We are in the middle of yet ANOTHER blizzard, expecting between 10-15 inches MORE snow on top of the 31" we got a few days ago. We had about 6" this morning before the winds started picking up so now it will be hard to measure as it's already drifting badly. Afraid we will lose power again. I am SOOO ready to cruise again! Gotta wait HOW LONG?!


(PS) Let me apologize NOW for any DISfunctional fussing you may hear coming from our cabin!!

Hey, if you could post some pics that would be fab. We ended up with this room by fluke, being a complete Newbie to DCL cruising this was actually the cabin allocated to us while booking. It wasn't until after that I found out it has a SPH so I was really pleased.

I am soo looking forward to this cruise and I can't stop dreaming about it and I still have this year's holiday to WDW to look forward to.

Can't wait to start planning and I'm just reading everthing I can at the mo.

Hope your snow doesn't get too much worse.

Oh lucky you! These are the BEST of the Cat 10's so I think they come up first even when people only randomly select Cat 10's. OK, so a little background...there are 6 of them, 3 on either side of the ship. 5020 is a single stand-alone room while 5022 connects to 5024. Same on the other side (5520 is the single while 5522 connects to 5524). The better views are in the 20 & 22 rooms. Like I said, we were in 5520 on the opposite side last time so this view is slightly different, but very similar to the one you will have.

From the outside...there are 2 decks with these big white lifeboat canisters - we are on deck 5 which is the upper one. Look at the top of the tail of the 'D'. The first room in this pic to the left of the 'D' is the __20 room. You can really barely see your room (__22) which is the one in the middle and you can really barely see __24 - it is to the far left, behind the double stacked lifeboat canisters. There is actually a little flat platform beneath your window & that's what is obstructing the view of the window in this picture. If you look at deck 6 above you can imagine where our windows are lined up.

Hope that helps! It is a great bonus to be able to book an inside category but have a window!!

Well my daughter and I went and volunteered for the health fair in New Port Richey. Overall the other volunteers were great to meet and I think I may have a job opening for one at work. We received our park vouchers three days after the event via email. All we do is print them out and take them to the park - how great is this.

I feel so bad for everyone with the snow storms. We are currently experiencing weather in the 50's and rain but we have a lot of our facilities closed due to the terrible weather you are experiencing. I am so looking forward to this cruise. I am back in school getting my masters and keep thinking this is a reward -- Oh let the time pass quickly - - - - - -

When booking on our last cruise we were even considering doing it on the Dream but DD wants to go to Europe; it's her birthday, so we told her yes to Europe but she doesn't know about the Magic; it's a suprise

I poked around a little bit yesterday on a cruise website (CruisesOnly.com) just to nose around & see what was out there. I've been reading other threads about people jumping ship from DCL to cruise on other lines...and then there are some saying sales are slow. Well, they apparently only post the itineraries at 18 months & they don't even have August 2011 up for sale yet as we're still just under that mark right now. Actually, looking at my ticker, TODAY is exactly our 18 month mark! Anyway, you can only select cruises through July. And the only 2 cruiselines that came up for that far out were DCL and Carnival. So I suspect come March they will post August. So of course until then sales will be slow. WE are the early birds! Hopefully we'll pick up more peeps in a month or two.

I guess a little pacience won't hurt. As you mentioned we earlybirds once we book we just can't wait to get back on.
