Just purchased 3- 7 day park hoppers for a great price at Parksavers.com . However my one son already has a 5 day PH ticket from previous trip unused....long story. We will be doing a 6 day trip ( the 7 day PH tix had 3 free days and the price was less than a 6 day ticket :smooth:) so I need to get him a 1 day ticket, however a peak one day park hopper is $160 really????

Can I upgrade when we get to the parks to add the one day....but then he wont be on our FP for that day.
Any other options? Suggestions? :thanks:

Thanks!!!

If the ticket your son has is upgrade eligible then yes you can upgrade it at the park to a 6 day. Although he can't prebook fastpasses for 1 day (doesn't matter which day of your trip so I'd do either AK or DHS for that day) it is easier to get one person matched on FP+ then a whole group so FP are not work the 160 for a park hopper.

I could probably buy a single park ticket for the last day or first day since we wont be hopping our first or last day....that would save a bit! I could always let him use my FP ressie if I can't get him with us I suppose......Thanks wilkeliza for helping me brain storm this!!!

I would upgrade at the park. Sometimes you can copy some of your FP to another, but won't guarantee you'll get all of them. We've done it before.

I can let him use my magic band for ride FP right? After all, if the kid is happy mom is happy!!

Yep, that would work and a whole lot cheaper than buying a one day ticket.

 Oh ktmo....you misunderstand...Although I love my kid tremendously, I will still be in the park, but will let him have my fastpasses! I can just sit on a bench and watch the Disney world go by and be happy!! I could also sit in Carousel of progress over and over and over ......
Just buying that one day ticket at that ridiculous peak time.....as a DVC person coming from a distance, I never imagined a one day ticket would be a problem I had to deal with!!

We often use our bands and book extra fast passes for the grandkids and give them our magic bands. We go more than they do, so we don't have to do all the rides. We just go and do people mover while the kids are on buzz or space mountain with our Fast passes.

Do you know for a fact that his ticket cannot be upgraded to a six-day ticket?

Why are you not upgrading his 5 day ticket once you're at the parks? Assuming it can be upgraded, it's going to be a lot cheaper than a one-day ticket standalone purchase.

I feel like you're thinking ktmo and others are thinking you'll give him the MB to use for *admission*? First, that's not possible, and second, it's just unneccessary. We know you'll be in the parks.

Upgrading his ticket, and trying to match the FP+s for his last day to your last day, OR just letting him use your FP if you can't match them, is going to be cheaper than buying that one-day standalone ticket.

last august I had a 6 day ticket for my granddaughter and decided to add a day. It cost $10 to add another day...well worth it even though we were there half day.

As long as the ticket isn't a promotional ticket (check the back) you should just be able to add days for about $10-25 a day. We have two five day tickets that we plan to add two days so we can go all seven days (we added two nights to our reservation).

I think they just meant that you should upgrade his ticket when you arrive and make the FPs vs buying a much more expensive one day ticket in order to guarantee the FPs with the others. Then if the same FP can't be booked after the upgrade then one of the adults could sit out and let him use their previously booked FP.

You likely can make it even easier by assigning the 5 day ticket to you, unless its a child ticket of course, and one of the 7 days to your son from the start. Then no switching of MBs is needed.

No, I got what you were saying. You will give him your band for fast passes. We did that a couple of times on our last trip. I let the girls use our bands to ride 7 Dwarves twice. I just couldn't see spending $160, just so you would have a ticket to get fast passes. Upgrade the extra day when you get there and try to piece together the fast passes.

This was a original comp ticket due to a huge problem during one of our trips....I know it is non transferable (I was told that when I wanted to assign it to me) and I don't know if I can upgrade it, I guess that is my next phone call. It has been on MDE for a couple of years and doesn't expire until 2030....
I didn't know I could upgrade for such a low price!!! Never had this experience or problem before-we have always bought length of stay tickets in the past.

Thanks for all of the suggestions!!

I'm not certain if a comp ticket will be upgradeable although it will likely say on it if you still have the physical ticket. But yes, the longer the length of the ticket the lower the avg daily cost for park entry as the additional days cost less then a new ticket. So still worthwhile waiting to upgrade and if the FPs are an issue then he can use yours.

If it is a comp ticket you most likely will not be able to upgrade it. They have no value so when they go to add an extra day it will most likely show the full cost of the 6 day ticket as the upgrade cost. Happened to me when I tried to upgrade one that couldn't be. Showed $500 to add water park and more.

Aha.

It's worth finding out, but I have a feeling that you will be in full-price-one-day-ticket-land.

You usually can't upgrade comp tickets. My husband was a CM for 8 years and we got comp tickets often. They were not eligible to be upgraded. Of course, that was a while ago, so maybe it's changed....

I would have a very serious problem paying $160 for 1 day. That 5 day comp ticket is worth more than $160....so if it were me and (I'm assuming here that you can't upgrade a comp ticket) I would just buy him the same ticket the rest of you got and save that 5 day for another time. Sure it's more $ to get the 7 day.... But the value of that 5 day at a later ter date is worth it.
