We currently have reservations for next August, but the thought of the excessive heat is starting to make me think that maybe we should go in Oct. We typically go in the late Spring and have never been around Halloween, which I'm sure the kids would enjoy. For those of you that have been in Aug or Oct share some of your pros and cons. Which would you choose? Help me decide. :goodvibes

We always go in October. The weather is usually great, and MNSSHP can't be missed. It is by far the best time I've ever had at the parks.

if free dining and school vacation isnt playing a factor in your plans then go in october.
but, its still going to be hot. the 3 times weve been the week before halloween it was still in the 90s everyday.

Hard to say

We usually go in August because of the free dining.

However I'd go in October for the Halloween party, because we've never been during that time.

I've never been in October, but would LOVE to go! I have been in August, and it is HOT! Plus October you will have Halloween decorations and MNSSHP. Either way, you will have a blast, afterall it's Disney.

Definitely October! We go every October around Halloween for a week. It can still be warm then, but you do not have the humidity that you have in August. Therefore, you dont sweat nearly as much and it does not feel as hot. I've been in August and I live 2.5 hours from Disney....never again.

Another vote for October! We love going at Halloween. MNSSHP is great, plus the F+W festival is going in Epcot.

I haven't been in August, but I've been in September. That was WAY too hot for me. We went in October two years ago, and it was pretty hot one day, but the rest of the trip was comfortable.

Another vote for October. Weather is much better and MNSSHP is great fun. We used to go to WDW every September, but I can't take the heat anymore so we've moved to October or November. Tried May/June also, but that was too hot too!

If you have a choice I would recommend October. The weather is beautiful for the most part (might rain) but not as humid. MNSSHP is a great time. I've been in August and the humidity is oppressive.

My Cousin goes in August every year because she's a school teacher...I might join them with the kids next year..but I cannot get DH, my mom or sister to agree to join us because of the humidity.

October, October, October!! I live down here and I can't imagine going in August if there is a choice. Yes, it is still hot in Oct, but nowhere near as hot as Aug!

Hands down, October. My mother used to drag us in August and it was horrible! MNSSHP is great - your kids will enjoy it. It's still warm enough to swim, but not as hot as August.

We're in the same boat!! Just came back from 1st time Aug trip w/ free dining. Have never been in October & would love to go then. I did think that the heat would be horrible-but it wasn't too bad. I guess just being able to go is great!

Wow; thanks to all that responded! It looks like I have some reservation changes to make. :thumbsup2 Even I'm getting excited about going in October now. The kids are appreciative and excited to go no matter what day of year but you know how it is....hot + sticky humidity + crowds = Garumpy! I have a strict rule about grumpin; especially on vacation. :goodvibes

I wouldn't even consider going in August. My boys and I wouldn't be able to handle the heat and humidity, and we'd be miserable. I've been in October twice, and while it wasn't ideal temperatures (for me), it was tolerable.
