Depends on your definition of “good weather.” The end of August is HOT. Like REALLY hot. We like the heat, but plenty of people don’t. November after Thanksgiving will have notably more ‘comfortable’ temperatures overall.

I have never stayed in Aug. but have been there in November. I loved the low crowds in early November. I believe closer to December gets a little bit crowded. August is very hot of course, it’s Florida after all but November could be a little cool at times so if swimming every day is important to you you may want to go in August. It really depends on so many different things and what is important to you.

All of the rides are available year-round, unless they're down for refurbishment.

Personally, I avoid August, because the extreme humidity makes my asthma much worse. It's like trying to breathe through a hot, wet blanket. I'd say it depends on how well you tolerate the heat and humidity.

August into September tend to be very humid. It's fine for us, we just make sure we drink lots of water throughout the day, and take breaks in the A/C (shops, restaurants, shows)

We went as first timers to Disney in August with free dining years ago and I hate the heat, but I don’t seem to mind it at Disney. End of August is a good time to go crowd wise too. I say go for it!

Then all the rides aren't available year-round then. :duck:

OP, in Jan an Feb, the water rides are normally down for their annual refurbs due to weather being "chillier". There are also bigger refurbs that happen with the other rides and those can be searched out rather easily by looking for the WDW Refurbishment schedule. It'll let you know what rides, if any, will be closed during your visit, whichever dates you choose.

We have been to WDW at both times and the lowest crowds were in August but the weather was horrible. November had great weather and all the Christmas activities, which made it a lot more enjoyable than August.

Our first trip to WDW was August and I swore never. again. We are trying mid-June this time, hoping it’s a teeny bit better. It was horrible in August, so so hot and so so humid. And it rained every day. Hard. With lightning which is the kiss of death for any outdoor rides especially with water. I think we got the edges of a hurricane.

Most of our trips have been Sept. or 1st week of Oct. We've had plenty of fun but the intense heat and humidity and 1-2 hours of rain almost daily was stressful. We went during those times because of the savings. We went in late January one trip and loved it much more. Weather was mild most days, just one day of heat but nothing like Sept. Only rained a few minutes a couple days.

This year we're going the week after Thanksgiving with free dining. Hopefully weather and crowds will be good.

Really is a trade-off. End of August is hot, but the last two weeks of August and Sept is probably the only *slower* time left on the calendar. This makes touring the parks easier. Thanksgiving through New Years is the busiest time of year, but the weather is much milder if that's what's important to you.

As others have said... it depends on your level of tolerance to heat (and rain). Five out of 12 or 13 trips have been August/September, and I HATE the heat & humidity. As someone above said you don't seem to mind as much at Disney.:cool1:
One August we were there was record breaking heat, as soon as we stepped outside you could feel the heat settle on you like a coat. We have also had a ton of rain in August, not the regular 20 minute thunderstorm everyday at 3pm Florida storms, but downpours all day.

With all that said I would not hesitate to go that time of year again... We know how to handle it... hit parks early, drink, drink, drink, take mid-day breaks at the pool, wet towels on your neck, pack ponchos & flip flops in your park bag.

I've always said I can do heat or I can do crowds but not both. When we went the August/September dates were lower crowd times... not sure if that still holds true as Disney doesn't seem to have a low crowd time anymore.

End of Aug/early Sept tend to be prime hurricane season. Odds are Orlando won't get hit, but coastal areas will. Could make transportation difficult.

August is hot, humid, and it rains. With that said we have gone more during that time than any other time. Schools down south are back in sessions while schools up here in the northeast are still on summer recess, so we have either beach abke to eat free dining or decent discounts. I personally have no issue going in August, we take it slower, start later, stay out later and drink plenty of water.

Well, to be honest, we've had T-storms for what seems like every day (blasted with tropical storm bands), and it was 91 degrees today with a heat index of 101 (dewpoint of 78, like er, the Amazon rain forest or something). And it's only just turned June. Looks a lot like August to me. :teeth:

We live in Arizona where today its 108. Last time I was at WDW was in Sept. Had fun but it was nice to return home and 'cool off'. While its 108 in AZ today, the humidity is 3%. WDW's 95F and 90% humidity is INTENSE for us dry desert dwellers!! We'd go again in Aug/Sept. only if that was the only way to afford a trip that year.

We've been to WDW at the end of August for the past 7 years. Last year I said never again (because it is SO hot), but we are going again this year because we are meeting up with friends. We go often and have gone during all seasons. For a first timer, I would not suggest going in August. The weather really impacts how we tour the parks and we definitely do not do as much in the parks as we would in other months because we have to avoid mid-day touring because of the heat. IMHO, as much as I like to save money, I would stick with your November reservation. Better weather, not bad crowd levels and the extra bonus of the holiday decorations!

We like to go at the end of August, crowds are low, we can go to MNSSHP and we can get the free dinning ( that’s important to me)
But it is hot! We are prepared, going in the morning and taking pool breaks in the afternoon, hit a few table service restaurants, going on every water ride possible and taking the cooling towels. Got to stay hydrated too.
Have fun

It is brutally hot. You MUST be careful. We saw a few people pass out from dehydration. You must drink tons of water. The heat radiates off the pavement and it is just "smack you in the face" hot. Crowds are not low anymore, they increased a lot over the years. It rains a lot. It is hurricane season too. We went twice at the end of Aug and both times hurricanes were heading right for FL. We left a day early one trip because we were told it would be difficult to get out if we didn't. I believe this summer and fall will be very busy with toy story land opening. I wish we could go in Nov. better weather.
