Aug. 5th, 2006 - Eastern Magic!!!

Hi Ellen Welcome :goodvibes I will add you to the first page. I have a DD who is 12. I'm glad you found us.

Hi Ellen. I have a daughter who is 15 as well, I'm sure they will end up meeting each other. Ana is not shy, she and her brother, 12 yrs. old, do not know about the cruise or else she would be on here trying to meet other kids her age already.
See you the 5th!

Dianna---how is your son doing?

I just found this site today. I can't believe all the info I've been missing out on and now I have less than a week to get my rear together. We just got our documents today. First time ever cruising! We are going to be spending a couple nights at Animal Kingdom Lodge before the cruise. I have a 13 yo DD and 5 yo DS and DH is coming too. Couldn't leave him home alone! ;-)

I feel like there's so much to prepare for and there's so little time to do it. I just got back from being in the Middle East for a year (working as a contractor on an Air Base) and have absolutely nothing to wear. Guess I know what I'm going to be doing tomorrow. And DH never likes to buy new clothes--he still has t-shirts from high school he wears. Ugh...I'm going to have to drag him out this weekend too. Not looking forward to that challenge.

Tiffany

:welcome: :welcome: :welcome:

Tiffany and Ellen!!!
I am so happy you found us.
We are having a meet :grouphug: the first day at 3 p.m. in the Promenade lounge,
Please join us!!! :woohoo:
We have been posting pictures of ourselves the past few pages, so feel free to scroll back and see who we are, and please if you have time try to post a picture of yourselves so we can recognise you too!!! :goodvibes

I will be easy to spot at the meet, I will have a bright pink blouse and blue denim shorts on. Marcie will have on a green shirt. Hope to see you there with your families. Maybe some of the kids can meet that way.

Kathy

Tiffany,
your not alone with having a DH who doesnt like to go get new clothes. :guilty:
It will get easier, I had the same problem for years, but as mother nature changes his physic he will have to get different clothes because the old ones wont fit anymore. :rotfl2: Only 20 more years and he will be ready for some new clothes!!!
Marie (Campcoach) has the same problem with her DS who is 12. I think he is in training to become a man already!! They all seem to hate buying clothes.

Since you just got back I guess all the hot weather :sunny: wont bother you. This is probably cool to what you are use to being in.

I hope Dianna's son is doing well. I know she has more on her mind than posting with us right now, but I hope she will let us know how he is doing soon.

Still lots of heat here and no rain today. We did get a little rain yesterday. Of course that was the day we were not suppose to have rain here.

well time to zip out to the store. Marie and her family are arriving here tomarrow and I think they expect to have some food in the house. Of course I would never spoil my grandkids with goodies and such, those things just seem to leap into my cart when I'm not looking??? :confused3

Have a great Friday everyone, :goodvibes
8 days :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Kathy

Welcome Ellen & Tiffany...Ellen where in NJ are you from....we are from Howell..traveling with 3 kids (10, 7, & 3 1/2). :cool1:

Welcome Tiffany I will add you to the first page. Like Kathy said I hope you can make the meet. There will be lots of kids and maybe some of them will hit it off. We debated staying at the Animal Kingdom then decided on Caribbean Beach resort.

I have been thinking of Dianna and her son too. I hope everything is okay.

I wanted to give a big :welcome: to all the new people that have joined our thread. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone at the DIS meet or during the course of the cruise.

Well, I'm in serious shopping/packing mode. I went out last night and bought a new bathing suit with a cute matching cover (I'm really bad, I bought matching flipflops and a cute little straw purse to match... going overboard a little - maybe.... I really can't help it, I LOVE to shop) :rolleyes1 . I also bought new black dress sandals for the formal and semi-formal nights. Now all I have to buy is a new pair of blue dress pants for my DS and I "think" I'm done shopping. The packing is going well except for the fact that I KNOW I'm packing too much and I can't seem to do a thing about it. :confused3

We should be in Florida :sunny: by this time next week. We are coming in a day early and staying at the Radisson at the Port. Anyone else???

Well, back to packing and cleaning (I can't stand coming home to a messy house.. it's all I would think about on vacation, so I make sure it is tidy before we leave). :confused3

Bye for now.

Gretchen

DD's pirate costume came in the mail yesterday. :woohoo: Sooooo cute!! I'm going to surprise her with it.

I'm glad all of your posts convinced me to cancel he dolphin excursion so we'll be back in time for dinner.

 I' coming down with a nasty cold. I MUST have this thing licked by next week. I just pray I don't pass it to someone else in the family! :sad2:

Have a good day!

Leslie

Take lots of vitamins and doctor up good. Last year I got Bronchitis at WDW before the cruise and ended up at a clinic instead of Magic Kingdom :guilty: But the medicine they gave me made me feel better by the cruise. pixiedust: Here's some pixie dust to help you get better in time.

WELCOME to all the people that just found us.
I am getting to excited! Especially, when I hear some many are bring children around the same ages as ours (4)& (6). My 6 year old is losing her front teeth. One most likely will be out on the boat. Will they have a tooth fairy on board?? :tink:
We are in the early dinner. My little ones are used to eating early & usually go to bed @ 7pm. WE will have to see how this works out schedule wise. I think I would rather they fell asleep during the show then dinner.
We are leaving on the Aug 2, staying @ POLY till 5th. Visiting MK for two days. Taking the limo to Port (FLtours.com -- does anyone have experiences with them??) should be one of the first people there. Sorry, can not think as far as to plan what I would be wearing. I did get a new suit & cover up.
Dianna - Our prays are with you & your Family!!
Marcy -Thank you again for being such a great monitor. :wizard:
Kathy - Aren't you just the best ever. Those grand kids I am sure do not know how good they have it. :cheer2:
Will try to make it to the meet. Sorry could not figure how to work the picture posting.
pirate: Have not planned for pirate night. The little one is really afraid of them.
:dance3: Cant wait!!
Wishing everyone health in the coming weeks. :wizard:

Hey gang just back from the store with my over the door shoe organizer and suction hooks. I think I pretty much have it covered so now I just have to pack it away. :thumbsup2

Looks like everyone is getting more excited by the day. I am now on the hunt for a good book to read on the cruise. Any suggestions?

Well off to lunch- :wave2:

:bounce: We are a family of five (girl 12, girl 11 and boy 7) traveling with my family. We have cruised before (5) with Royal Carribbean, but never with Disney before. Cannot find information on evening dining attire. On Royal Carribbean you get a nice list of each evening with dining attire suggestions (formal, casual formal, casual...) cannot find that for this cruise. We leave in a week and I am trying to pack. HELP!

Welcome to our meet thread. I have a daughter who is 12 too. You are all welcome to our meet at the Promanade lounge at 3 o'clock.

I will try to help you out with dress.

Saturday - Cruise Casual, (Capris, dockers, polos, sundresses that sort of thing)
Sunday - Formal night
Monday Cruise Casual
Tuesday - Pirate/tropical night. Some dress in pirate wear, some in tropical clothes. My DD has a pirate t-shirt and a white skirt, I will be in a Hawaiian dress, DH will probably wear an Hawaiian shirt
Wednesday - Cruise Casual
Thursday - Semi-Formal
Friday - Cruise Casual

If you go to Palo it is a big dressy, like Semi-Formal

Hope that helped you out some. :goodvibes

Leslie, take airborne or a generic form. It is GREAT! Gets rid of a cold in a day or two. I feel like I've been waking up w/ a scratchy throat, but we're getting a lot of rain and flowers are popping, etc. so it could just be a little allergy. I usually don't have allergies, but there have been at least 2 cruises where I have seemed to have a cold, also a time when we just went to WDW. We usually go in the spring, so I think it has something to do w/ the orange blossoms or something. I better bring some cold medicine. One year I didn't even get off in Grand Cayman until laaaate in the afternoon and then just walked around a little, got some cold medicine and went back on the ship.

WSUmom, welcome. Check out some of the Navigators for formal day, etc. It is on the first page under FAQ. I don't like looking ahead though because I like to be surprised. There is formal night, semi-formal night, and Pirate Night. There usually is a thread or two on the board too about it. You'll have a blast.

Well, off to PA to take the dog. The first step in our vacation!! Woohoo! I also stopped my mail for next week. Yea!

Leslie,
Tons of Pixie dust for you and your family to get rid of what ever you got!!!

Hey everyone,
Thanks for the prayers for our son, Steven. God has answered our
prayers. When Steven went in yesterday for all those test, the
doctor, nurses, and techs could not find the anureysm. Steven
even outlasted the treadmill program with no problems. The pediatric
cardiologist said that he was in great shape and could not find any
problems. WOW! We were so excited and so was our family and
church family. My husband and I will be the on the cruise. We will be
celebrating our 20th anniversary. We are leaving the children at home
because school will be starting. We took them to disney world this
summer so now we are hopefully going to get some down time. Some
people think we are crazy for taking a Disney Cruise with no children.
I love cruising with disney. We prefer Disney and the Eastern cruise.
I hope to get to meet some of you. I don't know how to post a picture.
I don't even know what I'll be wearing. I'm still so excited about the
outcome on Steven that I don't know what end is up! lol. Maybe
I'll get my act together by the beginning of the week. It still hasn't
sunk in that we are actually getting to go a this cruise. I believe our
room number will be 6587. I'll try to post again soon. I hope everyone
has a safe trip to port canaveral. Hope to see you soon.

God Bless ya,
Dianna

That is such good news Dianna. :grouphug: I know you must be on top of the world. Sounds like a nice relaxing cruise is just what you need. I updated the first page with your room number. I am at work so excited to be leaving so soon it's hard to concentrate. :rotfl:

:) Thanks Marcie for the attire tips....less stressed now. Thanks also for the welcome. Did not know this site existed until, today, when a friend from our soccer club recommended checking it out before our cruise. I had questions for her she could not answer, so that is why she recommended this.

Does your 12 yo do the kids club activities? My daughter has loved the ones on other cruises, but we usually travel with 20+ other families and she knows quite a few kids...she's a little shy. Not sure how she will feel about going into kids club on her own.

My DD is a bit shy too until she gets to know you. She will be alone, the only kid going with us. Last time we went on the 4 day Wonder and she didn't end up making friends really until the last day. I am hoping that with 7 days she can have more time. She would go to the Lab but would end up back in the room watching movies some. She did like, going to the movies with the other kids, I think she would like the scheduled time for the pool with the kids her age too. She said most of the kids were younger then her. But, she's just as excited all the same to be going back. Now they have a place called Ocean Quest that is geared towards 10 to 14 yos something like that. It has video games and ship simulators. I think she will like that. She loves video games.
