Aug 24 2014 cruise canceled!

I just called back and talked to a different man who was more helpful. He offered us $100 OBC and said that although he couldn't match the price, he would give me whatever the price was on the day I originally booked so since I booked back in February, I could have whatever room price it would have been in February. I also couldn't change to a shorter cruise, it had to be the cruise with the same amount of days which gives me limited options.

That being said, I'm glad that I at least got a different and more considerate answer. They said as of July 15 everyone on that cruise will be switched to December 3 and the on board credit will no longer be offered.

I'm going to try to rebook for November. The earlier August cruise only has limited rooms left with verandahs and since we are going with a big group we wanted most if not all of the rooms together.

I needed to vent so thanks so listening!!!

At least someone is trying to work with you. November weather should be nicer too. How many kids will have to skip school? I hope that isn't an issue. It's such a pain trying to "mesh" everyone's schedules. When we did an extended family cruise with 48 rellies a few years ago there was literally only one week out of the whole summer that everyone was available.

I feel horrible for you.....

We are actually booked on the 3 night right before that one going out on August 21st.....I would be bummed ....the prices are so low that week....

Sorry you have this inconvenience:worried:

Did anyone else notice that the Dec 3, 2014 cruise is on the Wonder out of Miami? If I had planned to sail out of PC and was switched to a cruise out of Miami, I would not be happy.

My friends where suppose to go on that cruise they were doing a back to back they are very mad

Theres about 10 kids going that will have to miss school but im hoping to switch to nj week since that way they will only miss 2 days instead of 5. Im really trying to look on the brighter side of things and hope that november will be less crowded and better weather.

I am one unhappy camper!!!! :furious:

The august 24th cruise was the middle cruise of my back ii back ii back for 2014!!!! We were going to make platnum status!!!

Now we had to switch to the august 17th cruise which was more expensive and cancel the august 28th cruise!!!

Yes I am one unhappy camper....

I feel bad for all those parties that contained multiple families and friends .... it's hard to agree with a dtae to begin with and book and to start all over again!! :scared1:

Does anyone know what the last day a cruise can be cancelled for a chartered group? 365 days out?? year and a half??

It just seems a little unfair to the average joe ...

okay my rant is over .... but im still an unhappy camper.

:scared1: As if being home with the flu isn't making me sick enough...this news has pretty much knocked me right on my a**. We too are booked on the Aug 24, 2014 sailing, for DGD 5th Birthday cruise but have yet to receive any notification from DCL concerning its cancellation. Since we booked with TA, I have called her to enquire as to any notification she may have received and she has received no such email today. She has a call into DCL as we speak. I am really hoping this is just a bad dream. We have our accommodations booked as well as our vacation time. Pushing the dates back a week (to Sept), would be fine, except that our DGD begins Kindergarten two days after we were to return from Orlando. Fingers crossed... prayers from our fellow DISers and a little pixie dust pixiedust: couldn't hurt either

I too was booked on B2Bs, which I love doing. We can't do the 4 night after the 3 night due to school and the week before doesn't work. I had it strategically planned with the same room and in the 1 week that worked for us. Not at all happy here! :furious:

If you are flying from nj/ny/pa the first week of Nov. you might not be too happy about airfare cost. We have looked at this November and the prices are horrible.

I booked this a dummy cruise and I'm still upset that they changed the port!

Just got off the phone with our TA and apparently DCL is just now getting around to compiling emails to advise of the cancellation. They did offer us the next week's sailing with a 100 OBC for each stateroom, our original staterooms, and at a price less than what we paid for August 24th sailing (based on Feb pricing for Aug 31st sailing for same room/ category, etc.). Got the okay for my DGD to miss her first few days of Kinder, so as long as we can make the switch in dates for our accommodations and vacation schedules, I guess things will work out in the end. They are only giving everyone til the 15th of July to make the decision to proceed...not very happy with DCL right now I must say. Had I not been on the Boards this morning, who knows how long it would have taken to receive the email notification from DCL

This happened to me for my upcoming WEDDING cruise!!! I was scheduled to get married on the Dream 9/28/13 & I had to switch it to 10/6/13. I'm fine now, but I was furious with Disney! I also got less than 1 year notice. I actually found out about mine because you could no longer book it online. DCL initially wouldn't tell me anything! They wouldn't even tell my DFTW coordinator what was going on. It was a month of total stress trying to figure out what to do!

I hope everything works out for all of you on the August 2014 sailing
