I have to say that I am pretty frustrated right now. I received an email this morning that said that our cruise that we had already booked was now not available and that we needed to contact them to reschedule.

I contacted them this morning and was told that I needed to pick a new date as the ship was rented out privately for that sailing date. Ok, I'll pick the 4 day cruise immediately before that. I want the same category and I think that they should honor the price I had already booked. Nope. Sorry Charlie, you must pay the difference.

The thing that makes this so much more aggravating is that this was supposed to be my daughters sweet sixteen cruise and we have over 30 people and 11 staterooms booked.

I need to talk to my husband and all our relatives before calling back and rescheduling but I think this is crappy of them to do. I wouldn't mind switching dates if I didn't have to pay almost $1000 more to do so.

Has anyone else had this happen to them? Did Disney end up honoring the price? If I would have known when I booked (the day the 2014 dates were released) I would have gotten a better price on the other cruise too, I'm sure.

Thanks for any insight.

Disney should ABSOLUTELY honor the price especially if you pick the sailing immediately before or after original dates.

That stinks.

Wholy moly - yikes! :furious: I'm so very this happened to you and your family and I can only imagine the frustration especially since it's next month and I'm sure you all have looked forward to this. I'm sorry if I missed it, but what sailing are you on?

I know others have had their cruises "bumped" but I don't remember them being so close to the cruise - seems like they had more notification and were able to make plans. Yes, I'd expect that if they switched you or bumped you from something you've already paid in full for - they should honor whatever you need as long as it was comparable and I'd expect the week prior to be. Even if not, that's good customer relations for a nightmare for you having to reschedule. I'm assuming they are going to assist with your airlines fees and price difference, if applicable too, correct?

I hope you get this worked out and I don't see the harm in escalating your request due to your unfortunate situation.

Keep us posted :goodvibes

I've been through this. So have several others here They don't honor the price difference but I got $500 OBC for my inconvenience and if I rebooked another cruise. Did they offer any extra OBC?

OP, did you mean Aug 24, 2014?

ETA: This still stinks, regardless of the year, especially since you will be celebrating a special occasion. I think DCL should give you the pricing that was in place the day you booked the original cruise. I actually don't see how they can justify not doing that. Whether they "have to" or not, it is just the right thing to do.

Sorry my cruise is August 2014. I was typing fast and mis typed. No they didn't offer me any OBC other than what I already had. The guy was actually pretty short with me.

Dreams Unlimited posted this morning on facebook that it's the 8/24/2014 cruise that was cancelled. If so, you might want to fix your title just to clarify.

I'm sorry this happened to you. :( DCL did the same thing to us in 2011. They chartered our Med cruise that we'd had booked for over a year. I was pissed! And they gave us very limited rebooking options. We had to choose a cruise that was the same number of nights and it had to be in the summer. They wouldn't even let us book a longer cruise and pay the difference. If I remember correctly, they offered $200OBC and reimbursement of any travel change fees for those affected.

Some people put in for vacation at work well in advance. Some might have to make arrangements for pets and (in our case) children. This really puts people in a bind, and it just makes DCL look greedy and inconsiderate.

2014?

Still a crappy thing for DCL to do. Perhaps they will offer some kind of OBC as previously mentioned by luv2sleep

I figured you meant 2014. Lots of people just went through this same thing, though dates were switched around on them along with the ships being changed for their cruises. DCL does something like this every year, and lately it seems a few times a year with more ships now. I wouldn't expect them to give you another cruise for the same price, but the price of the new cruise on the date you booked your original cruise.

just happened to me -
for my 2 cabins, it would have cost me $750 to rebook on the sailing immediately prior.
they offered me $100 OBC ...

unfortunately, that wasn't enough for me - and I had to cancel my reservation
I'm very disappointed...

The Disney Dream is the only ship with a 8/24/14 sail date.

I just called back and talked to a different man who was more helpful. He offered us $100 OBC and said that although he couldn't match the price, he would give me whatever the price was on the day I originally booked so since I booked back in February, I could have whatever room price it would have been in February. I also couldn't change to a shorter cruise, it had to be the cruise with the same amount of days which gives me limited options.

That being said, I'm glad that I at least got a different and more considerate answer. They said as of July 15 everyone on that cruise will be switched to December 3 and the on board credit will no longer be offered.

I'm going to try to rebook for November. The earlier August cruise only has limited rooms left with verandahs and since we are going with a big group we wanted most if not all of the rooms together.

I needed to vent so thanks so listening!!!

That is what I would have expected based on past experience. Ridiculous you had to call back, but such is DCL CS.

That's great! I'm glad a change is working out.
When it happened to us I think the OBC was higher because it was a longer cruise and was a Christmas cruise that was supposed to sail on Dec 22nd. Messing with big holiday plans might have accounted for the higher OBC amount. I don't know. Just a guess.
