~Aug 2013~ Sew what~We've gotta find a way back-Part II- TR link posted - 8/31

I'm so glad that both yours and V's auctions went well and you made more that you expected on them! I am so excited to get my Crush bag and Squirt wallet. I've been scouring the interenet looking for the perfect Finding Nemo shirt to go with it. Before long I'm going to need an extra suitcase just for my bags when I go to WDW. :rotfl:

I loved seeing the pictures from your DIS meets. Wow, that was a lot. I've done three and am happy with that many! I'm hoping to add some for my October trip once I figure out which week we are going to go.

I really thought about heading to WDW for a few days in August so I could participate in the Monsters University DIS meet. Even though I could probably swing it, there are some other circumstances that are not going to let it work. DH has had trouble most of his life with panic attacks and they have gotten out of control the last year or so. He's finally getting help but one of the things that causes them is me going out of town and leaving him alone. Figured it would be pretty selfish of me to add another trip this year.

You are a good considerate wife Ariana :thumbsup2 he'll be ok.takes time many family members deal w/this

I have to say that the Mickey now and then bag is one of my all time favorites. I agree with the other people that have said it should be a series. Maybe for your next big auction? I would of course love to see Pluto done that way!

Now hold on there Ruthie! Fight you for it. ;) :rotfl:

I said it first !! ;)

Hope everyone had a great weekend!!!

popcorn::

I still see the aBOOT words popping up a lot... Don't think i am missing them!!! Maxie Moose is FITTING! He is a moose. and i feel in love with him!!!

I LOVE LOVE the b&w reversible bag!!!!

And what's this talk about the incredible's bag NOT doing well??? Umm excuse me. I think it went JUST FINE..:goodvibes

RuthIE you sold me on buying a frog the bog cooling towel thing.. it will help with sports!!! Matt is a over heated in a nano second kind of kid..

Going to Ebay! see ya!

Love this picture!!!!

Thanks Liz...Happy Times

OK - so I purchased 2 of them yesterday. I was going to purchase them directly from their website, they were running a special 2/$19.99 - then I went to check out and they wanted to charge me $18.00 for shipping... Ah - no. So, off I went to Ebay... I paid $24 for 2 including shipping. Thanks for the tip Ruthie!
I am a little nervous about the texture then... Both girls are very sensitive to texture - Alli especially. Hopefully they aren't awful - because she is the one that would need it most.I am a little worried that these towels will get nasty after 10 days in the parks and no washing machines... :rolleyes1
Rinse them in the resort sink everynight NO worries !
D~

:confused3Don't know why anyone is heading to eBay for this try checking your local sporting goods stores or WalMart in the camping section FIRST but thats just me, somethings I just want now !

Hey D~ I was trying to figure out if you could get PowerAde at the counter service restaurants and I have no good answer for you. I couldn't find any menus that listed PowerAde as a choice (bottled or via the fountain machines)

I used google to search for pictures of the menu but couldn't find it listed as a drink choice. Here is the menu from Cosmic Ray's. They listed a bunch of other drink choices but no powerade. I was thinking that even if they didn't have it as a bottled choice they might have it as a choice from the soda fountain machine but I don't think so.

http://allears.net/menu/men_cr.htm

So you might have to go with the case of gatorade. You could also get some Vitamin Water if your girls like that better.

Cute family pictures! Can't wait to see Alli's bag.

Chiara - we have never done O'Hana either. I feel like we are missing out because everyone loves it. That being said, whenever we are at the Poly the number of people waiting for O'Hana is crazy and they don't look very happy. We have done the Kona Cafe a few times for dinner and really enjoyed it.

Pretty sure Powerade is only sold at the carts.you know the ones where you can buy bottled water ? ..thats not a problem though the carts are everywhere but I would definitely go with getting a case any bottle in the world a fortune

Good News! Kate moved her right arm in PT today! This is major because she has not been able to control it at all up to now!

Praise! How wonderful!

D~ I am loving all the retro pictures too. Speaking Retro....DH loves the then/now Mickey bag.

I feel like I'm not commenting much lately, but I got a new phone & can't figure out how to post. I am keeping up, but when I finally get on my computer I can't remember what I have commented on & what I haven't.

Enjoying following along though! Can't wait to meet up!

Just dropping by to say hello! I absolutely LOVE the then and now Mickey bag. The black and white is so cute, and I just adore the pop of color when you turn the bag around. :thumbsup2 You have an amazing eye and talent...such creative ideas! :worship::worship:

After seeing the then and now bag and hearing you talk about Alli's bag I am so excited to see what wonderful idea you have come up with now! I'm sure it is/will be spectacular!

This is great news. :D

I responded last week but I think you missed my post (no worries...I've been gone for awhile).

You sure have had a LOT of DIS meets. Good for you.

Thanks everyone - and that should be Kat not Kate. Kate is my daughter -lol. Looks like there will be a change of plans for Kat. She will more than likely be going to an acute rehab hospital this week, before the heart surgery. The docs want her colon to be healthier before they do the heart surgery because of the blood thinners she will be on.

I got a text message from an old theater friend who is desperate for some sewing help. The show is the Producers and full dress rehearsal starts July 7. I need to "fix" 13 old lady dresses and make 13 pairs of bloomers. Guess my own sewing will be put on hold for a couple of weeks, but I'm happy to help out.

So I FINALLY have some time to get back to DIS reading and finally made it to your part 2 thread. I'm caught up but my tablet is very slow tonight in loading many of the bag photos and retro photos. I'll view them eventually.

Hopefully I can get back on track with reading regularly and maybe even finishing up my own trip reports. I'd love the do a quick trip report on my solo trip and a PTR for our Disneyland trip in SEVEN WEEKS!

Wow D! You've posted so many such incredible things that I haven't had a chance to comment. Loved all your action items. I really loved your Incredible bag! Loved Kari's braces. (Joe is getting braces 7/3) Loved everything else too. Was not surprised to see you did so well on your action.:woohoo: Love your now/then Mickey bag. Loved all the fabrics you used on the b/w side. Such a great idea and so perfectly executed!

Let's see if I can remember anything else. I've been crazed at work. The Board of Directors meeting was today. Thankfully I only have to prepare analysis for it not present anything. I wish I could think things would settle down but we will be doing a new Q2 forecast and then kick off 2014 budget process. I'll be more than ready for a vacation come August. I think the kids will be too if they ever get out of school. They go til Thursday. We missed days due to hurricane and then even more to the blizzard.

I still have to review my trip plans some more. Would love to meet up with you more than once. I'm hoping we can join you all at DHS on Sunday night. My friend will be visiting from Jacksonville but she goes home on Sunday night so I would think at least I could make it to the MI party.

I'm sorry you couldn't find a safe way to carpool for Ali's choir. I can't believe how careless some parents are. I can't beleive how many parents let their little ones ride in the front seat or how quick they are to let them ride without a booster seat. The other girl's Mom should at least give you gas $$$ since she wasn't up front about who would be driving.

Have you ever tried the powder gatorade individual packets you can get?

I got a Frog togg last year to take to DC but never used it. I didn't bring it to CA last summer. I got a 2nd one this year because the girls are taking sailing lessons this year and I thought they might find them useful and then we can bring them to WDW. I was telling a friend about them and she brought me a different kind of one from Spotrs Authority. I haven't tried it but Ali might like it better because it feels much more like fabric. It doesn't stay cool as long but if she would use this one it might be worth have to rewet every 2 hours.

Can't wait to see Ali's bag!

Wow... I didn't realize how chatty you all were yesterday... I will be here doing replies for a while...

I love the MM picture. We have never been to Ohana.
Good luck on your appliqués. I am working on launch sets today. Also hopefully Sami's July 4th onsie.

We have only been to Ohana twice, once for breakfasta and once for dinner. We were not impressed at all by dinner last year, but the girls insisted that we do breakfast there this time... I do have to admit that breakfast was very good.

Well, since this seems to be my latest obsession, I don't think that will be a problem!

LOL - The Dis does tend to get a little bit addicting - doesn't it?

D~ just wanted to tell you how much I love the "then and now" UPB! Chiara is one lucky lady!

Thank you!

I decided I need to make another bag to take into the parks since my red one will clash with some of my outfits. I think I need a purple, green and blue one!

Oooh - how fun! I cannot wait to see it!

I made a Pinocchio shirt to go with my Jiminy bag. I still need to take a picture and I am debating adding the Blue Fairy to it.

Awesome!!! I wanna see this too.

Charlie and I went to see Monsters University on Saturday - I like the first one better, but it was still a nice movie.

We want to see this, but have not yet... I have heard that it isn't as good as the first one - such a bummer...

Kat update - the meds they gave her last week are working and the heart procedure will be done either today or tomorrow. Once she recovers from that, she will be moved to a rehab hospital, hopefully in Baltimore for intense pt, speech therapy and occupational therapy. We were waiting for an update from my nephew - he's been lax this week in keeping us informed - lol. Even his mother had to ask for an update!

So happy to hear she is improving - thank you for the updates. :lovestruc

Hope Alli's bathing suit saga has a good conclusion. I remember those days.

Well - she ended up with a Nike sports bra and a swimsuit bottom... Which is just fine with me.

THanks! I am so happy that it went well too. I hope you find a Finding Nemo shirt to coordinate. LOL about needing extra luggage for your bags... If everything goes as planned - we will be bringing 5 bags with us this time (I am not sure if either of the girls are bringing theirs from last year?)... But I know we will be carrying on 3 of them... 2 will have to be packed... I am more worried about how I am going to pack the headbands from Princess Pie...

I loved seeing the pictures from your DIS meets. Wow, that was a lot. I've done three and am happy with that many! I'm hoping to add some for my October trip once I figure out which week we are going to go.

Yah - I love doing Dismeets!

That would be fun if you could come - but I totally understand your reason for not coming.

I have to say that the Mickey now and then bag is one of my all time favorites. I agree with the other people that have said it should be a series. Maybe for your next big auction? I would of course love to see Pluto done that way!

Thanks! I would need a LOT of gray dot fabric though. LOL

Hope everyone had a great weekend!!!

Hi Mo!!!

I still see the aBOOT words popping up a lot... Don't think i am missing them!!! Maxie Moose is FITTING! He is a moose. and i feel in love with him!!!

I do it just for you... :rolleyes1 You are right... Maxy Moose is perfectly fitting for him... NOw that we have turned the air on - he lays right on top of the vents in the kitchen... I laugh every time, because it reminds me of Maxine standing over her air "vent" - LOL

Ruthie - I really want a copy of that photo of Maxine^^ - you have no idea how many people I have tried to describe that scene to.

I LOVE LOVE the b&w reversible bag!!!!

Thanks!

And what's this talk about the incredible's bag NOT doing well??? Umm excuse me. I think it went JUST FINE..

Ack!!! Boy did that come out wrong... NOt that it went badly - I am super happy with the price I got for it, and super happy about the person who won it... I never list anything for a price that I wouldn't be happy about getting for it. :lovestruc Like I said earlier - there were many things that went way higher than I thought they would and many things that went way lower... This was one of those that I thought might go higher - since it's such a unique bag.

RuthIE you sold me on buying a frog the bog cooling towel thing.. it will help with sports!!! Matt is a over heated in a nano second kind of kid..

Going to Ebay! see ya!

Yay - I got mine there too... I can't wait to get one and test it out. popcorn:: I got pink and yellow - what did you get?

Don't know why anyone is heading to eBay for this try checking your local sporting goods stores or WalMart in the camping section FIRST but thats just me, somethings I just want now !

Well, in most cases - Ebay is cheaper for me. :) By the time I go to town and come back - gas is expensive. It's just easier for me to sit here and order it... And it just so happened that it shipped the same day - so it should be here today or tomorrow?

Hey D~ I was trying to figure out if you could get PowerAde at the counter service restaurants and I have no good answer for you. I couldn't find any menus that listed PowerAde as a choice (bottled or via the fountain machines)

I used google to search for pictures of the menu but couldn't find it listed as a drink choice. Here is the menu from Cosmic Ray's. They listed a bunch of other drink choices but no powerade. http://allears.net/menu/men_cr.htm

So you might have to go with the case of gatorade. You could also get some Vitamin Water if your girls like that better.

Thanks for doing the leg work on this for me Liz. :lovestruc Honestly - I was meaning to do this myself, but I just didn't get around to it. OK - so I will just order a case, I was thinking I would order from Walmart and have it delivered right to our resort.

Cute family pictures! Can't wait to see Alli's bag.

Thanks! Me too... I cannot wait to see it - DONE. LOL

I wish we had the time to try Kona... It would be ideal if we could do it the day we meet up with Suzi in the afternoon... but that is the same day of the potential LTT lunch/CRT dinner/Dessert Party - and I fear that we will have too much food as it is. I think that next time we will do Kona instead of Ohana - since Suzi swears by it.

Pretty sure Powerade is only sold at the carts.you know the ones where you can buy bottled water ? ..thats not a problem though the carts are everywhere but I would definitely go with getting a case any bottle in the world a fortune

Bummer about it only being at the carts, my initial thought with this idea was that we could order Powerade as our drink with our meals instead of soda - that way it would be part of our dining plan... I have no desire to pay real cash for it. LOL

Good News! Kate moved her right arm in PT today! This is major because she has not been able to control it at all up to now!

This is so wonderful!!! :woohoo:

D~ I am loving all the retro pictures too. Speaking Retro....DH loves the then/now Mickey bag.

LOL I have a hard time thinking of them as "retro" since they are all less than 10 years old. Hahaha... Glad your DH likes the bag - it was super fun to make!

I feel like I'm not commenting much lately, but I got a new phone & can't figure out how to post. I am keeping up, but when I finally get on my computer I can't remember what I have commented on & what I haven't.

Enjoying following along though! Can't wait to meet up!

No worries Dee... What kind of phone did you get?

Just dropping by to say hello! I absolutely LOVE the then and now Mickey bag. The black and white is so cute, and I just adore the pop of color when you turn the bag around. You have an amazing eye and talent...such creative ideas!

Aww... THanks!

After seeing the then and now bag and hearing you talk about Alli's bag I am so excited to see what wonderful idea you have come up with now! I'm sure it is/will be spectacular!

I am not sure that it's a "wonderful idea" - but it is something that I hope SHE thinks is a wonderful idea - LOL. And hopefully it turns out - sometimes my brain thinks oddly - so we will see... :rolleyes1

I responded last week but I think you missed my post (no worries...I've been gone for awhile).

You sure have had a LOT of DIS meets. Good for you.

You must have replied on the day that I didn't do any replies at all the following morning... So, that was Wed last week - I didn't do any replies on Thursday morning because I had to work and start my auctions. :lovestruc I saw that you were here though. And happy to see you here again - I don't get to see you often enough anymore.

Blessed Be!

Good luck with Ali (and V's, if y'all ever get an idea) bag!

Thanks Ruth!

I just hope everything goes smoothly for her, I am glad that they are looking out for her overall health though.

I hope you finish up your reports - if you do, please let me know... And i would love to hear more about your solo trip too! I can't believe your DL trip is so close... You must be going to DL at about the same time we will be in WDW?

Wow D! You've posted so many such incredible things that I haven't had a chance to comment. Loved all your action items. I really loved your Incredible bag! Loved Kari's braces. (Joe is getting braces 7/3) Loved everything else too. Was not surprised to see you did so well on your action. Love your now/then Mickey bag. Loved all the fabrics you used on the b/w side. Such a great idea and so perfectly executed!

Thanks!! Good luck to Joe getting braces - V had a hard time with them the first few days... Lots of ibuprofen.

Yes - it sounds like you all will be ready for a vacation! Yikes!!! I cannot believe they are still in school - that makes for a super short summer vacation.

I still have to review my trip plans some more. Would love to meet up with you more than once. I'm hoping we can join you all at DHS on Sunday night. My friend will be visiting from Jacksonville but she goes home on Sunday night so I would think at least I could make it to the MI party.

That would be awesome if you could make it for the MI party... I really need to get all of my Dismeets organized - I feel like I am really slacking on that.

The mom did give me a card yesterday, but I forgot to open it - I would imagine there is probably some gas $$ in it? It would be nice - not that I am expecting it or anything. The gas $$ isn't the problem... It's just the 2 hours out of my day every day that is getting annoying. I am happy that I had this week scheduled off - it just worked out that way - so I am only working on Alli's bag, but I still wanted to get it done... I am not sure that will happen now - and it will drive me batty that I will have to leave it unfinished over the 4th of July.

Have you ever tried the powder gatorade individual packets you can get?

I have not... I did look into them several months ago - because they would be ideal - but they have sucrolose in them (or they did at that time) - sucrolose and aspartame are 2 things that I just won't buy. As far as I can tell - the bottled versions do not have these chemicals? :confused3

I got a Frog togg last year to take to DC but never used it. I didn't bring it to CA last summer. I got a 2nd one this year because the girls are taking sailing lessons this year and I thought they might find them useful and then we can bring them to WDW. Can't wait to see Ali's bag!

Oooh this is good to know... I am going to see how she feels about the Frogg Toggs, and I will keep this link handy just in case I need to order this for her. Thanks so much!

**********************************************************

I have been trying to solidify my schedule all this week... Because of all of my driving - I have not been able to get as much done with Alli's bag as I have wanted to. In my mind, it has to be done by the end of the week - I cannot leave this project unfinished... :rolleyes1 I was complaining to bff about it yesterday morning - and she came up with an alternative that may just work better...

Previously, my schedule this week looked like this:

Mon... Sew
Tues... Sew
Wed... Work at Target
Thurs... Grocery shop
Fri... Sew

Well because of all this driving - seriously - I didn't even come close to finishing my applique yesterday...

So, I was complaining to bff about it, and her solution was this...

Mon... Sew
Tues... Sew
Wed... Work at Target then grocery shop
Thurs... Sew
Fri... Sew

SInce Wednesday is totally wrecked anyways... We decided that we will be doing our Gift Card/Grocery shopping on Wednesday. So, I will get off of work - bring the girls home - change - and turn right around and head back to BFF's house. Normally, I am a morning shopper - I don't like shopping in the evenings at all - it's usually too busy for me... but I have decided to make an exception this time. Then that gives me an extra day to work in my sewing room and HOPEFULLY finiish Alli's bag this week.

Last night, I worked on my couponing and list making... So I am sure to have everything we need for the 4th. I had about 3 weeks worth of coupons to clip and organize... as I have't grocery shopped (on a grand scale) for a few weeks... For the most part, we have been living off of our meager stock pile - which doesn't really exist anymore. LOL

**********************************************************

In trip related news... I made a HUGE payment on our trip yesterday. I have had these GCs for a few months, but I was waiting for my TA to return from her own trip. OUr trip is now a little over half way paid off. It will be totally paid off by the end of the week! What a relief!!! :wizard:

I feel like I am down to the wire on so many things here... I just want to get it totally paid off, so I can get to work on purchasing the rest of the stuff I need to get.

**********************************************************

And a non-water bottle photo for you all... Since I am the one taking the picture...

IMG06.jpg

Have a wonderful day everyone and prayers go out to all in need.

D~

I think most of the sitdown places have the minute maid light lemonade if you were concerned about the sugar in soda? Last trip I brought lots of the drink sticks that I got at the dollar tree and a few of the squeeze MIO type ones and just ordered water even though a drink was included with my dining plan when I didn't feel like the light lemonade.

Congrats on making a huge payment on your trip that always feels good.

Good luck with your shopping this week.

I hope the new schedule works for you.

Sounds to me like you have a brilliant BFF!! I don't really like to shop in the evening either, but sometimes you just have to do things you don't want to, right?!? :confused3

I hope you get a lot accomplished this week! ;)

I don't know if the girls would actually wear them? But if it gets hot enough out - maybe?

I have regular 50spf sunscreen for our trip - it's the sport kind - so waterproof/sweatproof...

Ick.....I tried the Frogg Togg thing last July. Both Dani and I HATED them. I meant to bring one to MOA to show you and totally forgot. I hated the feeling of them, the smell of them after one use. And they just didn't work for me. Felt cool for a split second, then just felt wet and heavy. Honestly the little clip fan I gave you worked the best. I just put it under my shirt and blew it on my belly and instantly felt cooler. And that little thing of sunscreen I gave you....that feeels sooooo cold when you spray it. I have 27 bottles that size. At least one each day for each of us. You have to re-apply sunscreen so many times because you just sweat it off....might as well get a cool blast while doing it.

But I really really think you will be fine. Everywhere is air conditioned....Dani and I didn't have any problems last year and we hit the ground running and didn't stop until close. This time we will take it easier because of Bradey, but I am not worried at all after experiencing it in July. The worst time for me was the Dessert Party. Yes, it is at night, but it is a long time out of AC. I remember posing for the PP pics and feeling the sweat run down my back and down my leg. Also AK is brutal in the heat. I know it's your favorite park and all, but there really is a lot of walking. Just stop often for ice water...even if you do have Powerade. Get fresh ice water at the QS places too!
