Audiobooks on Spotify. In case anyone else had no idea ( like me) and missed this.

Several years ago, I learned Spotify had audiobooks for free. But then they decided to charge for them. Bad spotify.

I just found out a few days ago, back in Oct 23, they started giving you free audiobooks again on premium level but there a catch. Only 15 hours a month. That's about two books worth. But there is a catch, if you back track a lot, that time still adds to the 15 hours. I never just sit and listen to a book. I'm usually doing something else, cooking, cleaning, whatever.....So I often am "where did he come from " and go back to the last chapter. So that 8 hour book may take 9 hours.

When I saw you could get free books, I was sooo happy. They have tons of books I'd like, not knowing about the 15 hour limit. Now I'm sad again. I'm too cheap to pay $13 for an extra 10 hours.

So just letting you all know.

I just get my audiobooks from my local library. I'm sure they don't have all the books that Spotify or Audible does, but they seem to have enough to keep me entertained. 15 hours a month doesn't seem like enough when many books are in the 6 to 8 hour range. Heck, I'd be over the limit within days.

Same as @TippyThomas. I use our library's CloudLibrary and Hoopla.

DH and I do share an Audible account, though -- we have the annual plan. We have such different tastes in books -- I'm sure it makes their recommendation AI messed up.

I have accounts with two libraries and audible. Our local libraries don’t have hoopla. Had it , and I loved it,but they dropped it.

I like cozy mysteries and Amish based books from writers like Charlotte Hubbard, Amy Clipston, and Jennifer Beckstrand. I find some of those books, but not as many as I’d like.,

Well in our house, I want the books, DH wants to music, so it works out. And as it is.....15 hours a month is nothing to DH listening a few hours every day.

I told all my kids they can get 15 hours of audiobooks when they changed the policy. A few days later they were grumbling that only I get access because I’m the main account holder too. I tried to listen to Spare by Prince Harry but I just couldn’t listen to him anymore after about 2 chapters. I need to find a new one to listen to, just haven’t made the time. I do wish everyone on the family plan could have access.
