After 15 years, I finally decided my DH and I need some DISNEY!!! We have gone three times before with the kids but this will be our first time alone on a trip since our honeymoon at Disney 31 years ago. But here's my problem. Which rides or attractions are the spinning-type? I have a veritgo problem which is aggravated by spinning-type attractions - either the riders are spinning or the surroundings are spinning.

Finding these boards were the best thing since I made the ressies!!!!!

Thank you all so much!!

Well definitely the teacups and Mission Space. I know lots of people also get sick on the simulator rides like Star Tours and Body Wars. They don't spin but something about the motion tends to make lots of people feel quesy.

No -
Mission Space
Tower of Terror
Rock n Roller Coaster
Big Thunder Mt
Space Mt
Teacups
Carousel
Body Wars
Star Tours
Aladdins Flying Carpet (MK)
Aladdins Game at DQ
Primeval Whirl
Triceratops Spin
Goofy's Barnstormer
Dumbo
Any of the 360 degrees movies (O Canada, Impressions of France, etc)
I did Soarin, but closed my eyes every so often.

I have done ToT and it's not too bad, but I just don't enjoy it.

Splash Mt is okay, though.

Seems to be quite a few, but there is still a lots to do.

I tried the patch (after we got off the Disney Cruise - only one day used) on Space Mt and it didn't help.

I got so dizzy on BTMRR that I had to go lie down at the resort for a few hours.

I'd give anything to do Mission:Space, though. I really would.

I love rollercoasters and don't mind being spun around, but for some Reason Mission Space almost did me in. Don't ever take your eyes off YOUR screen. Don't do it, trust me. If MS had one more flying element at the end I think I would have lost it. Even as it was I was clammy sweaty for about a half hour after it. My 5 year old son went on it twice in a row with no problems, go figure. BOY do i feel old. :confused3 :confused3

Man, I am feeling your pain.I really am. I have vertigo too, and the last time we went to WDW I was shocked at how little took to set me off. I love the shows, althought the 3-Ds will sometimes do it. I just shut my eyes. anything which whips my head around will get it giong, then I'm a gonner for teh rest of the day. Meds just make me sleepy and cranky, so I avoid them.

I have had vertigo since November and BTMRR really made me dizzy. When I got off I still felt like I was spinning for an hour.

You are going to have a WONDERFUL time. DH and I have gone twice now as empty nesters and I have to say, Disney World WITH kids is fantastic fun and filled with moments we'll never forget, but Disney World WITHOUT kids takes on a whole new meaning, IT"S AWESOME.

We must be about your age, married for 29 years in 3 weeks. We've gone alone the last two Christmases and it was so relaxing and stress free. I don't do any of the rides on that list. Who cares, there's tons more and tons of other things to do. We do all sorts of things we never get to do normally, we slept in everyday, this Christmas we had a one bedroom villa with jacuzzi, AHHHHHH, we lounged around the pool, went to the parks, MVMCP programs, the Candlelight Processional, ate at our favorite places and tried a few we've been wanting to try, went to a couple movies, checked out the nooks and crannies of EPCOT, since it was the first week in December, we checked out all the stores in Downtown Disney, and did "relaxed" shopping, instead of rushing in and out, we did things like getting our favorite chocolate covered strawberries at the little candy shop in Downtown Disney and then sat on a bench a just watched the lake while we enjoyed them.

We did VERY few rides, it was weird. We were so busy doing other stuff!!! I had so much on my list we never got to......some attractions we haven't done yet, etc. November will be one of those fun, busy ones with my neice and I just can't wait, but I'm also really looking forward to the next time it's just the two of us again too. Have a great time and don't worry about the rides. I do Buzz, but I close my eyes during the tunnel part, I think you'd also do OK with Tower of Terror, I close my eyes on those anyway, I just dont' like the "dropping feeling, but I have VERY bad motion sickness and that one doesnt' bother me. One point in Mickey's Philharmagic bothers me, but I won't miss it, just because I have to close my eyes a few seconds. In a nutshell, I avoid, Simulators, Roller Coasters, and spinning rides. There's allot more fun stuff to do, so enjoy!!!

Addendum!!! :teeth:

If you haven't been there in 15 years, you won't even MISS the ones that make you dizzy you'll be SO busy with the rest!!! I'm sure the "spinning" rides might be some adults cup of tea, but I can do without rides that just go round and round, even my 7 year old niece thought it was to young for her last year. That already accounts for 5 on that list. Each park averages one simulator ride and one or two rollercoasters. Also add China to the list too. It's a 360 movie thing.

You won't even miss them, nor will you have time for ALL of the rest, there's just too much!! Since you'll NEVER do "everything", take time to relax and smell the roses. That list is pretty good, you should be able to do everything else. Test Track has one rollercoaster part, but it's a very short part of the ride, at first I used to close my eyes during it, but now I can even keep them open a good portion of the time. Act like it's your honeymoon 31 years ago, you'll be VERY surprised at how many "of us" there are. Especially off season!!!

Where are you staying???

Loved Rock n' Poller Coaster but that's what did it for me!
I was "off kilter":tilt: for the rest of our trip as I wasn't quite sure what it was until I got home to the doctor. So i'm not much help because I can't tell you which other rides to avoid because after this one even sitting in a chair made me feel dizzy! :teeth:

Thanks ever so much all of you for your advice!! Since this trip was a definite spur of the moment-type thing, we are staying at ASSPorts the week of August 21-26 - taking advantage of the free dining plan. This board has been so very helpful in planning. I'm sure we will have a great time - if I don't develop carpal tunnel in my wrist from reading these posts all day!!!

Thanks again!
