There are some rides/attractions that to me let you know you are in Disneyworld.

I know some of you may like to see them updated or destroyed....

My list of Disney Definers....
Whats yours???

CoP
Its a small world - hope it never goes away
Space Mountain
Spaceship earth- Where we've been and where we're going!!!
Pirates of the carribean
Haunted mansion

Please let these never leave. You may be bored with them but children everywhere everyday will see it for the first time...it's still magical to them.. :flower1: pirate:

Splash Mountain
It's A Small World
Tree of Life
Living with the Land (I always have the urge to plant when I get home from WDW lol)
TOT

All of those, esp. Haunted Mansion...
But also I would add Jungle Cruise - I remember seeing the DL version on Wonderful World of Disney (or whichever name it was that time period)
The other one that makes me feel like I'm really in WDW is Spaceship Earth. And I may be in a very small minority here, but I love Rio De Tiempo. Very Small World to me....

Disney creates it's identity through the themeing of the rides, not the rides themselves. Space Mtn. is nothing but a ride we used to know as a Wild Mouse (appropriate), and we've all been on other log flume rides, or steel rail rollercoasters or you name it. But at WDW from the moment you get in line it's clear that you're not boarding a 'ride', you're stepping into a story, experiencing an adventure. I almost don't like it when crowds are so low that you can blow right past the pre-show. The Imagineers may have designed this to distract from the long waits, but the build up is half the fun. This March I took the whole family, including my 78 yr old mom to Disney and I convinced mom to walk through the pre-show for ToT to get the feel of it. She got so carried away that when we got to the chicken exit, so got on the ride instead. See ya there tomorrow!

ITA with Bill! It's not the ride that makes it magical for me, it's the theme! I can go to an amusement park anywhere and ride rides. But Disney is so special (for me anyway) b/c of the attention to details, the CM's in character, I could go on and on! :)

Nope, you're not alone! :) I LOVE Rio de Tiempo. It's so relaxing to me, and I love to leisurely cruise by those dining at San Angel Inn.

Definitely TTA (or "People-mover). Also, gotta agree with Jungle Cruise-I remember seeing it on my Viewmaster when Disneyland in CA first opened. To me it's DISNEY. Also, does the Monorail count?

LOL, Bill! How did she like the ride?! I'm taking my 80yo father and my aunt/uncle who are in their late 70's and I might have them do the preshow with me. I don't think they could handle the ride itself, but I'd like them to see the preshow. I know they would love Splash Mtn., but I doubt I can get them to do it because of the drop.

my trip to disney world doesnt start until i go on BTM it was my very first roller coaster as a child and its just not the same till i go on it... other then that i love taking a break during the day and going on the TTA its the quitest ride and theres never a line (at least when im there) and also Pirates of the Carribean ( when i was a kid i wanted to be a pirate when i grew up still kinda do pirate: )

I agree with Bill.

Here are mine (hope I'm not forgetting any):
Spaceship Earth - my favorite at Epcot
It's a Small World
Haunted Mansion - my favorite at MK
CoP
People Mover
Pirates
Cinderella's castle - not a ride, but I know I'm at Disney when I see that (and Cindy is my favorite princess)

THE MONORAIL

Dumbo
Spectromagic
Tom Sawyers Island
Teacups

Spaceship Earth
Illuminations
Upsidedown waterfall
squirting fountains

Great Movie Ride
Fantasmic
Honey I Shrunk the kids playground
Tower of Terror

Kilamanjaro Safari Ride
Tree of Life

jennymouse,

Actually, ToT upset her stomach somewhat, but next day she did Splash Mtn with us. She enjoyed that ride as a youth (70) and had no problem with it this time either.

Fantastic Bill! I keep taking my wee ones (currently 6, 4, and 2) in hopes that somebody will have the decency (sp?) to take me when I'm 78!!! :smooth:

For sure, Small World,POTC,Peter Pan,HM,JC,Tiki Birds,Dumbo and all the Mountains. ::yes:: :wave2:

If we wanted rides there are parks much closer and much cheaper that we could travel to. The magic is indeed in the theming and not the actual ride.

One of the rides that makes me think of Disney is Peter Pan. Flying above London to Neverland is so magical. My DD is so wide-eyed everytime we ride that it just warms my heart. Realy stands out to me as we just yesterday saw the movie "Finding Neverland" Truly a Great Movie for anyone but especially for Disny-holics.

I'd have to say Dumbo, Small World, Teacups and Pirates of Caribbean. I was so disappointed Small World wasn't open when we went in Dec.

BUT most of all is the setting and the cm interaction. The highlight for me was seeing the look on my 11 yo son's face. We were at MK. Aladdin and Wendy were inside Town Square Expo. Hall on Main Street. No one else was in there. DS2 used his money to buy a cheapy plastic sword after riding Pirates. Wendy noticed the sword. She and Aladdin were really in character talking to DS2 about fighting pirates and not wanting him to become a pirate. They went on and on. DS's eyes just lit up. He was so thrilled. He's still talking about how cool that was. Oh, and the time Brer Rabbit followed him into Main Street Emporium and wouldn't leave him alone. After the CM would drag Brer Rabbit back outside we'd see him sneaking back in. DS2 just laughed and laughed. That's magic. I've never been any other place like WDW.

1. Spaceship Earth- EPCOT
2. Dumbo- MK
3. Splash Mountain- MK (even though I haven't been on it for 4 years)
4. It's A Small World
5. Pirates of the Caribbean- MK
6. Haunted Mansion- Mk

For me, it would have to be It's a Small World. I remember it from trips as a small child, but even more I remember my Mom talking about my reactions! I loved taking my DD's on it for the first time!

First of all, Hello Neighbor :wave2:
My list:
Peter Pan
Dumbo
Small World
POTC
Jungle Cruise
Living with the Land
Splash Mtn.

for me, it would be:
It's a Small World
Space Mountain
Haunted Mansion

... and I guess Dumbo. Funny how most of these don't even have the disney characters in them (except dumbo! ;) )
