Hi Everyone!

My family and I are driving from PA to WDW in June, and I was wondering about good places to stop and stretch our legs.

Are there any attractions along the way?
What about short hikes?

Thanks!

I'm sure there must be more, but the only one I know about is South of the Border, which is huge. It has a few small rides, shops and food and I think even a motel or two. We've never stopped there though, we are always in a rush to get to FL on the way down and it's too early in the drive to bother stopping on the way home!

Get an I-95 Exit Guide. Usually they have intersting restaurants and local attractions listed by exit, so if you read up in advance you can pick some things you're interested in. There's lots of historical places - Civil War battlefields, plantations and farms, Colonial era towns, shopping and outlet malls, a ton of stuff if you want to take your time.

We use ours mostly for mapping the drive, locations of rest area and to find good local restaurants. We refuse to eat at chains and have found some wonderful food options that way. Duke's BBQ in South Carolina comes to mind. A diner in Kingsland GA, we always try to eat fresh locally made food, because nothing's worse than a bad stomach on the road :scared:

Most of us are in too much of a hurry to get to WDW, but we've always wanted to take our time going home and do some of the interesting stuff along the way.

There's a great construction vehicle manufacturer along the way that does a great tableau in their front yard of all their giant vehicles that you can see from 95. Keep an eye out for it.

I just looked at South Of the Border online and it looks like fun. We will probably stop there for a bit.

I have the 95 exit guide on order - I had no idea that it listed attractions, I got it for the food (like you say, we prefer fresh not chain) and lodging listings. Good to know.

Thanks!

We just came back and both ways I waited for mater and lightening to come out from behind the building. I figured the trucks on the lawn were hanging by the water cooler talking!

To the op, we drove to ft. Myers but took 95 down from ct and took I-4 to 75.

We did not stop except to get gas, eat and use the bathroom.

We thoug we were doing good u til we hit Virginia and traffic for no reason t all. It was just red and red and black dots on the google traffic app. So with Virginia being one long state to drive thru (like PA) and the Carolina's as the next two, we had no desire to stop and see anything.

Dh and I stopped at south if the border years ago when we drove to myrtle beach but we thought it was a waste of time and cheesy.
