I have a somewhat delicate question that I"m not sure where to take. We've got our next trip planned and will be traveling with a very dear person who happens to be rather large. This person has confided to me that he is concerned about being too large for some of the attractions. He wants to take my kids on many of the rides, but doesn't want to be embarrassed and turned away at the gate because the safety harness won't close.

Does anyone know where I can find this information? Are there any size limits for the rides? Which ones would be of the most concern? I realize this might be a sensitive subject, but if anyone has some personal experience they wouldn't mind sharing I'd be interested in hearing it (and if you want to send a PM instead of a post, that would be OK too.) I'm really just looking for ways to reassure this person that it will all be OK but I'm at a loss at the moment.

Hey! You will get lots of positive responses to this post. I am "pooh sized" - weigh about 250 and am 5 foot 8. I have no problems at all riding all rides at WDW. I go on everything - even the kiddie rides in fantasy land with my DS5! Not sure how large your friend is, but I would say he will probably have no problems either. Deb Willis has a link at her site about this. Here's the link:

How large is large? I am 5'6" and about 250, while my DH is 6' and around 375, and we have had no problems on any Disney ride or attraction. Disney seems to be very sensitive to the needs of larger guests.
I know this has been a topic on the DISabilities board, you might want to check that out for more tips. Also, Deb's site wdwig.com has info on this topic, Disney At Large.

The link to the Disney at Large website in a previous post is the best information for those of us who are large sized and should aleviate a lot of your concern. I'm pretty big myself and have had no trouble with any of the attractions including Rock 'n Roller Coaster. In fact, it's one of my favorites. With that said, I usually take one Dumbo elephant for myself and I'm more comfortable on Thunder Mountain Railroad in a car by myself. That's actually more because of my knees than my hips and stomach. I had a little trouble with the rides that had seatbelts trying to get them secured until I learned to pull the seatbelt all the way out before I sat down. That made it much easier to get it secured. There is tons of room in those seatbelts. Read the Disney at Large information and put your worries aside. Go and have fun!
