Attraction Spiel Rides

I told my interviewer I have no problem with lengthy narrations so I really hope I get a spiel ride, I'm excited for one but I'm happy with anything. Although I really really really want a ride with an awesome costume.

Parking is considered attractions and one of the roles is spieler. As long as you get the 5 safeties and how to open the doors, and then the basics like park times and parade times, you can pretty much add whatever you feel is necessary. And things do not have to be word for word like you could say "kids to the middle, adults to the outside," or "Children in the middle between adults."

I think parking still technically falls under Main Entrance Ops though

I did KSR as well and it's absolutely amazing. I don't want to give too much background information but it's a very challenging role and you MUST be able to multi-task. It has a huge turnover rate because of its unique challenges. I'm glad I did it, but I would never make a career of it. Safety is a huge concern and I was always on edge about getting reprimands!

It's a very intense role and thus KSR gets "hazard pay" :thumbsup2 If you can't master your training in a week, they're flexible in giving you more time. They want you to be 100% sure of yourself when you go out alone. Some people are overwhelmed and asked to be moved to non-spieling attractions.

That said... you cannot beat working with live animals everyday. Every safari is unique and the animals do incredible things-- I have distinct memories of times they absolutely took my breath away. I definitely miss that!

Every spiel attraction has many memorization and training included! I worked at The Great Movie Ride for my Fall 2010 CP, and not only do you need to know the spiel word-for-word, but you need to know how to drive the tram, you need to know your show speeds and blocking for the scenes, and normal attraction positions like loading. It is a LOT to learn in less than a week.

Yes, but Main Entrance Ops technically falls under Attractions. You can get casted as a cp in attractions and get pulled to park greeter/ parking. It's different when you go pt or ft because of the unions.

Haunted Mansion is a spiel ride because they talk in the stretch room

Yes, but that doesn't make it a speiling attraction though. There are many attractions that give basic information (or minor speils), but they aren't speiling attractions. It's the same way for MuppetVision 3D. The CM speils in the preshow (and again in the theater), but it's just a regular attraction. Speiling are rides like GMR, JC, Safari, ect.

I think that may be one reason why training added more days

I'm actually slightly terrified that I'd get put in attractions in a spieling ride:scared1:

That's how I was, haha. I secretly wanted KSR, but when I actually got it, I was sort of freaking out that I'd never pass training and I wouldn't make it and it would be embarassing. But I did fine. Really, you get very comfortable with it in 5 days.

my sister worked at the haunted mansion and they called it a spiel.

But it's not a major speiling attraction though (technically, it really isn't a speiling attraction at all).

Yeah, Haunted Mansion is NOT a spieling attraction. Most attractions have some sort of 'spiel' that is said by a cast member, usually safety instructions or telling people where to walk.

A spieling attraction has pages of script to learn, not just a sentence or paragraph.

As for training, they will give you added time if needed. I only saw that happen once or twice though (the script really as bad as it may seem!). And I only saw one person ever transferred from GMR because of the spiel. But he was a French CP, who had trouble reading and memorizing an English script so it was totally understandable.

Three people from my training group were transferred because they couldn't get the spiel. It's usually not a big deal and they try and find you a spot somewhere else, but it's an inconvenient to the other cast members because they have to work more hours and replacements need to be found usually.
The normal time given is just a week, and again there are a lot of other aspects to learn other than the spiel. It's a big undertaking!

Every attraction has some type of spiel, but usually it's just a line or two that you need to say. Saying "Drag your bodies into the dead center of the room." for HM does not constitute as a spiel attraction. :P

It happens all the time (where people are transfered to other attractions), and it doesn't happen just at speiling attractions. I don't think of it as an inconvience. Some people aren't comfortable speiling, and that's ok
