Attraction closure question

How long can it take to remove a diseased tree? The one in my backyard was removed in a day by a tree company. I know there may be more considerations at a busy theme park, but seriously it CANNOT take weeks to remove a tree.

Yeah agree with this, doesn't seem like it would be a huge deal.

Take this FWIW, but in an article I read about the closing, there is a comment by someone who says he works there, and that it's just regular maintenance and will be open June 7. Who knows if it's real or a troll. Here is the article:

I wonder if POC being closed for so long is to keep crowded walkways from happening while they are redoing things in the Fantasmic viewing areas.

I didn't think of that at all but it's possible. At the start of the month, CMs roped off some parts in front of River Belle Terrace to simulate what would happen if those areas got closed for construction. The Pirates line already creates huge congestion because it often blocks that walkway that would get you to Royal Street Veranda. Sometimes, there's only a tiny gap between the Haunted Mansion line and the Pirates line to get to the New Orleans restaurants/shops. I hate to think what would happen if more walkways got closed in that area.

Yeah, I'll be curious to see what they end up doing in that area. But it sounds like they plan to get it done by the time Fantasmic comes back so they better get working!

The early scuttle was that they were removing the two trees from the lower courtyard:

I agree that it shouldn't take weeks, but that would definitely take more than one day.

(Made me wonder if they might rework the courtyard after removing them.)

Given that Blue Bayou is only closing from mid-April to mid-May(ish), I'm betting this is multiple projects - removing the trees and the overall refurbishment.

If they are replacing the trees it also take a lot longer, because you need to pull up as much of the roots as possible, and there could be some pavement shifting as well. Pulling trees up from a hardscaped area like this is not at all the same as cutting down a tree from your backyard, so the comparison doesn't quite work.

Fair point. For whatever reason its closed (along with Blue Bayou) I'm disappointed it won't be open for our first trip with the grand kids the first week of May.

Oh man, I love those trees. Hopefully they will replace them with something cool.
