Hello there! We are needing to ask a few questions to those of you who have regularly used vouchers out there :) We will be going to WDW for 14 days in December and after thoroughly researching all of the voucher info and menus at allearsnet, have decided that vouchers are the way to go for us! We have a couple quick questions, however!

1) The vouchers, in many cases, seem like a deal that is too good to be true! Have you all had positive experiences using them? All comments about them on this board that I have seen have been very complimentary and make no mention of problems or cast members not knowing what they are. I am having nightmares of walking up to pay with a voucher and having a cast member stare blankly back at me, LOL! We are not concerned so much with the money savings as having all of our meals prepaid in advance, but in so many cases it seems like you can get REALLY great deals using these (with the Q & C). Do you ever go away feeling like you've robbed them? LOL :p

2) After researching the different options of ordering vouchers, we joined Hotwire Savings Club. We researched this a bunch before joining and had read that many people had positive experiences with them. In fact, we ordered a few vouchers as a "test order" and received them lightning quick and without issue. We were about to place our "large order" for them when I noticed a few comments about Hotwire on another site saying they were not good to work with and that when you try to cancel with them, they give you hassle and keep charging you? I didn't notice comments like this before we joined (and we do plan to stay with them for a few months), but now am feeling like we may have made a mistake? Have you had positive experiences and am I being a worry wart?

Thanks so much! I appreciate your input!
Jeanette

I don't have the answers for you - but, am contemplating some of the same questions! ;)

BUMP! :)

We did our last August trip entirely on Q & C vouchers. (breakfast quick in the room).

I ordered 40 (the maximum), for four people (2 adults, 2 kids).

We did it more as a prepayment thing, but we did come out ahead on all meals (some only $1 or $2 some almost $20)

That being said, it was good. In the beginning of the trip, the kids would use one voucher, and each adult would use one. Towards the end of the trip, we would use two vouchers for the four of us.

We never were hungry. We felt we robbed Tangieriene at Epcot, Beaches and Cream, Pepper Market, and Roaring Forks. (Wilderness Lodge).

Other meals that were close were Cosmic Rays-the soup and salad dea was fantastic! Mara was pretty close too, and it was a neat place to try.

I think we ate at:
Cosmic Rays
Electric Umbrella
ABC Commissary
Roaring Forks
Tangieriene
Cantina De San Angel
Beaches and Cream
Mara

I'm sure there are others, but I don't know.

I have never used the more expensive or the breakfast vouchers.

And don't worry, the CM's know what they are. I had a ton of newer CM's last year, and if they didn't know, another cashier or supervisor would come up and help them.

I can't answer your 2nd question, but as to the first - Don't worry. Disney CMs are used to seeing these vouchers. They're everywhere. They're not just used by us DIS freaks :teeth: but also foreign tour groups, conference groups, school groups, etc.

So, there are a lot of vouchers floating around and even if one CM doesn't know how to use it, there are plenty of other CMs that can help.

The one place I truly felt like robbing the place was at the Rainforest Cafe when using the VKL vouchers. DH used a child's voucher and ended up with $50+ worth of food for $15! But again, the servers are used to it.

So.... don't worry. As long as you've done your research and figured out when and where you'll use your vouchers and what you're going to get, you'll come out ahead on these things.

I have used vouchers on 3 trips and had very positive experiences. However, I did have 1 (and only 1 ) negative experiene. In June of 2003 I tried to use a Quick and Casual voucher at the counter service place in France. Not only did the CM say they do not take them there but she was rude and held up the line to argue about it. I asked for a manager because the restaurant was listed on the back of the voucher. After a wait a manager came, looked at the voucher and left. She came back later and we finally got something using the voucher.

The vouchers are not a very good value there but we wanted to try something different. I think part of the problem was there was a language barrier but the thing I hated most was the line being held up! I asked twice if I could get out of line with the food and they wouldn't let me. ( I didn't want to "Put it back" either.)

Anyway, wanted to let you know it CAN happen but vouchers really have been a good thing for us and we plan to use them again.

We have used the Q & C meal vouchers. They usually save us a couple of $$ each meal. It is very nice having meals pre-paid. The Breakfast Vouchers save a little on adult breakfast buffets since they include tip, but here again, we like them because they are pre-paid.

We also have used Vacation Kingdom Lunch vouchers at RFC. What a deal this is! A kids voucher through Hotwire is $12.75, adult is $31. We will use these two vouchers to feed our family of four and save $35. (This is one of our "big" sit-down meals at Disney--the kids absolutely love RFC.)

We joined Hotwire for the 30-day trial. Hotwire sent us an e-mail at about day 23 saying our trial was almost up and if we didn't want to continue our membership to be sure to cancel. We had our tickets and vouchers so we called the number they gave us and cancelled with no problem at all.

With the Q&C vouchers, the best food and best value (for us) was at Tangierine Cafe in Morocco and Lotus Blossom Cafe in China. I had heard that the Chinese food there was mediocre, but we all loved it. I have worked in Boston's Chinatown for 20 years and like to think I know good Chinese food when I eat it.

I am the lone voice in the wilderness, however, who thought the food at Pepper Market was truly awful -- we were staying a few days at CSR and would never have made a special trip. We gave the food 3 tries to shape up and it failed. I even sent one entree back. The Mara at AKL was not very good either.

I have some vouchers left over from that trip and will try them out at the food court at POR and at Beaches and Cream when we go down next week.

Cindy B, we'll be staying at the Villas at Wilderness Lodge in Jan. and have some vouchers. Can you tell me what you got at Roaring Forks that you felt you robbed them? What's the best value with the vouchers there?

They were very generous with the interpretations of the vouchers.

I remember getting a large chili or a large soup (for the side), whatever dinner special it was , a large drink, and a large dessert.

One time I got a salad (larger salad) and they told me I could get another side.

This was a place that two vouchers could definietely feed four people.

Thank you all so much for the needed reassurance! I know I am truly a worry wart, but I did not want to spend a ton of money on these if they were going to be something that no one knew about! :) Thanks again, you guys are great!

I just bought three from someone and plan on buying 6 more from Hotwire.
we'll only be in WDW for 4 days and I know we'll use them all. My husband will be thrilled when he sees how much food he can get with them.

Thanks for the Roaring Forks tip! We'll be going there to look at the decorations in December. Now I will trea the family to lunch/dinner as well.

First, we have used the Q&C vouchers many times and EVERY CM has been familiar with them. If I forgot to order something included in the voucher (such as a dessert) they would remind me. It is an exceptional way to budget you WDW dining dollars.
Secondly, if you've already joined Hotwire Savings Club and are impressed with your first order don't waste another minute second guessing whether you made a mistake or not. Just go ahead and order the "big order" and cancel ASAP so that it's over with. That is if it was your intention to cancel after the first month.
I have purchased my vouchers for our Thanksgiving trip and feel so good about having those meals pre-paid. :Pinkbounc Have a wonderful trip!

I wasn't sure about the vouchers so I enrolled on Hotwire and just got 2 Q&C, I ordered them on a friday got them by wed, no problem at all, got an email to remind me that it's been almost a month since I enrolled and that they will charge the next month membership fee....
We used the 2 Q&C at the Tangerine cafe at EPCOT, feed 4 adults, we had 2 lamb and chicken combos, they had a side of hummus and couscous and we still got an extra side of tabouleh, for each one, we got 1 soda and 1 frozen non-alcoholic drink and 2 desserts, total bill was $37 and we where full! the only thing that was not clear was about the desserts, they had some cakes and then some arab desserts and they told us first that we could choose only from the cakes and then someone else came and told us we could choose from all, and then another lady told us that we could should get cakes because those where the most expensive so it was the best value..... we ended up getting a tangerine cake and a kiwi tart, both where good any way....
So IMHO, the vouchers are a good investment if you go to the right places, paid $23 for them and the bill was $37....
