I'm looking for a new bag for our upcoming Disney trip. I see a lot of ladies on here love these bags. I'm not fond of the flowery prints, but I'll overlook that if the bag is comfy to wear.

I'd like your thoughts? Do the straps dig in? I want something small to carry the following:

Camera, hand sanitizer, small sunscreen, small wallet, tickets, bandaids, Tylenol.

Would the mini-hipster work? Last time I used a larger purse and it was torture because of the weight. I've realized the smaller the bag the better - it will force me to carry light! lol

Sounds like it would work to me! I have a regular hipster and I LOVE it!! I always use it when I am shopping or going to the zoo, etc. I plan on using it for my upcoming Disney trip. I love Vera Bradley bags. They are soft and very comfortable!

They look like they have pretty narrow straps. Do they dig into your shoulder when full?

I love my bag because the strap is comfortable. The strap is made out of fabric and soft and no it does not dig in. The bag when empty is so lite weight compared to bag in a store that are heavy before you even put anything in it.

Not all VB bags are flowery she has a few solid colors too.

I love all the pockets.

What I would suggest thought is spraying your bag every 3-4 months with "Camp out" its a water repellent that I get from Walmart.

The three that I have all have a 2 inch wide strap

I would recommend going to a store that sells VB and check out the collection. On VB site there is a place to search for retailers in your area. I would also NOT suggest the mini hippster it is very small and a camera would not fit.

I second the standard Hipster. It has a wide strap (I'd say between 1 and 1 1/2 inches) that doesn't dig in. I'm not sure how big your camera is, but if it's a point-and-shoot, you should be fine.

I was anti-VB for a while -- the patterns were a bit too floral for my taste, too -- but then I took a closer look. My Hipster is in Island Blooms.

This is another problem...I don't think they sell them in Canada. So I'm going strictly on the reviews from other people. I'd have to go to eBay to get one.

What are the dimensions of the regular hipster?

Im the minority here. I purchased the hipster and ended up returning it. Too bulky for my taste and the strap kept twisting all funny. I ended up getting the Piazza day bag and loved it. PLus it was half the price and made of Nylon material.

I recently bought the smaller one to go with it in the same color for non park days. That will hold my wallet and camera only.

I think the mini Hipster is too small. Last trip I took the regular Hipster and that worked well. This trip I'm going to try the Little Hipster. It's not quite as bulky as the regular Hipster.

The Piazza is almost identical to the bag I took last trip, only mine was a cross body version by Travalon. I'm looking for something smaller. Mostly to control my own "I have space therefore I must pack it" habit..lol

I suffer from the same affliction. That's exactly why I bought the Little Hipster! If I've got space in a bag, I'll use it. While I love the Hipster, it got too bulky with everything I stuffed into it -- and it never felt comfortable. When I only put a few things in it, it's perfect.

Same here! I feel like Im about to go on Survivor when i have a bag that big!!! I pack everything " just in case" ;)

I believe I have a mini hipster and a regular hipster and the size difference between the two is huge. I could probably fit 2 of the minis if not 3 in the regular hipster.

On that note, I could easily fit my son's camera, my cell phone, and a small wallet that holds credit cards, IDs, and some cash in my mini hipster. I basically use almost like a coin purse or ID holder that zips inside of it. You could also fit in a small bottle of hand sanitizer (like a sample bottle). Not sure about a big bottle of sunscreen though. You really wouldn't even need an ID Holder/coin purse, as the front flap has a zipper compartment (only drawback is that it is on the outside of the purse and not facing in, so turn that to face your body.

I wear mine all the time when we go to King's Island and Cedar Point and it never digs in.

Now my hispter on the other hand, can get packed full of stuff, heavy and uncomfortable to carry at times because there is so much shoved into it. But it would allow you that bottle of sunscreen.

I ended up buying the Kipling Alvar XS bag at Winners. I think it will be perfect and only $20. It will hold the tickets, my point and shoot, my wallet (which is a coin purse/credit card holder), my small sunscreen and has a loop to attach my Bath and Body hand sanitizer.

I'm all set...I think...lol

What about the backpack? Does anyone have it? I was thinking of purchasing one for our August trip because I'd like to be "hands-free", but I'm a bit worried about something being on my back and not knowing if someone was unzipping it behind me. I'm not really sure how it zips up and if that would really be an issue.:confused3

Has anyone tried the backpack?

I personal don't have the backpack, my best friend does though. She absolutely loves it. She is always out and about in St. Louis and even wore it when she went to the World Series and has never ha anybody try to mug her. Plus, they wash up wonderfully! The fabric is very easy to take care of.

I have more VB backpacks than I care to admit in public...my DD6 has started to carry some of my older patterns because they very easy to wear and carry. They hold an amazing amount of stuff without feeling bulky and hot. I've carried mine thru our past 5 Disney trips. I don't typically put anything of value in the front pouch because i have always thought it would be too easy for someone to lift the flap and grab something....but the zipper of the main compartment as well as the zipper against your back would be difficult to open without you being aware of someone tugging on your back.

When I go without kids, I carry one of my mini hipsters and I'm able to hold hand sanitizer, sunglasses, band aids, camera, credit cards/cash, cell phone. It also holds a great amount and its easy to wear. I never feel like the straps dig into my shoulder.

I'm not a fan of the hipster though...it feels too....floppy? Unwieldy? I don't know what the right word is....it's too much bag flopping around at my waist! :)

Everyone has a favorite. I think if you can't try them out before buying, you should at least have a pretty good idea about what kind of handbag you typically feel most comfortable with...go with a similar style. :)

Hi

I have the backpack and I use it for field trips and am planning in using it at Disney. I am lucky enough to live in the town where VB is made and I hit the annual outlet sale where I purchase more than I should. I think the mini hipster is too small. I have the hipster and it still gets full so I will be taking the backpack. It is very lite and comfy. They have a lot of alternative patterns to floral. It some patterns that aren't so busy. Night and Day and Baroque are some of my favorites. Good Luck.

I used the littlest of the backpacks and liked it at Disney. (I really haven't liked it for every day use, though). I got a matching wristlet and, using a strap I have on hand from something (an old camera? Who knows?) I used it as a small purse a couple times in the evening. Mostly I kept it as a wristlet in my purse or looped onto the strap for easy access to my KTTW. (By the way, this is the last trip I'll make without a lanyard. I wished I had brought one!)

Years ago I used the mini hipster but was not a fan of the thin, non adjustable strap, the tiny size, or the from flap. I think it's been a bit redesigned though.

On guard (middle age man) at bag check said "so how has Vera been treating you?" It made me giggle. I guess you get to know your purses in that line of work. Bet his wife and daughters get great gifts!

I have the hipster and the backpack. I prefer the hipster because every time I sit on a ride I need to remove the backpack but the hipster just fits.
New patterns soon!
