Do you have to be certified to be a teacher in the NY School System, and if so what is the process??? I am a NJ HS teacher and will be going for certification next fall for 1 year and will have to accumulate professional development credits every year after that

I'm not a teacher but I do know a few of them. NYS has a certification process. I don't know if there's any reciprocity with NJ. however, I think the NYC public schools allow you to get a temporary license even if you're not state certified.
