Ok, so I am checking into CR on Dec 18 for a week.I did a room only reservation with a 35% discount. DH, DD11, DS9, and myself are all eating lower carb, no soda, no desserts (ok, maybe a Dole Whip or two- I'm not that horrible!). I realize our check-in date is 1 day after Free Dining. In previous trips, we have had the DDP and DxDP and it was a LOT of food for us, even when we ate desserts and soda.

I made the following ADR's:

Akershus lunch
Biergarten lunch
Garden Grill dinner
LTT dinner
CP breakfast
Chef Mickey's breakfast
Ohana Dinner
Rose and Tavern dinner
Sci-Fi lunch
Brown Derby dinner

I am guessing we will average out to 1 TS per day and 1 QS per day.

The question is if I should buy myself an AP and get a TiW card or just bite the bullet and try to add the 17th and do a package with Free Dining? My husband enjoys an adult beverage at meals when we tour. I was going to buy 5 day non-park hopper tickets, so the upgrade to an AP + TiW card is a factor. Or should I just do OOP?

I did the math the other day and I want to check my numbers.

TIA

I believe the time to book the free dining offer through the rest of 2011 has expired. The only thing on the WDW website is free dining in 2012. Not sure if they would still change an existing reservation, but I doubt it.

So you're only two options would be to pay OOP or get the AP/TIW. With just your buffets, my head math says you'll save at least $130, but that was a rough adding of just your 3 adults. Add your 1 child and the other three ADRs plus any alcohol and you should be getting close to the approx $300 to upgrade and buy the TIW.

Not sure where the 20% savings would begin to be a true savings after the upgrade, but I'm sure someone will come along with that figure shortly.

Is there any chance you will do another trip in the next year where you can again use your TIW and your AP?

This is irrelevant I guess if the booking window for Free dining has ended, but you could never have kept your 35% discounted room and gotten free dining anyway. You would have to have either the discounted room or free dining, not both.

So that would have had to factor into your calculations as well and I didn't see you mention that. So you're talking about an extra day at a deluxe and all at rack rate.

Also, TiW discount is not good on holidays (so Christmas Eve and Christmas in your dates, I guess).
