Hello. We just got back yesterday from a 12 day trip to Disney! We stayed at Ft. Wilderness, BWI, and GF. Ft. Wilderness was wonderfullots of towel animalsand GF was lovely (we stayed in the building they were remodelingConch Keyso it was a little loud some morningsdrilling and scraping, but at least it was expected). BUT, although BWI was pretty nice, never stay right by the elevators if youre not a deep sleeper!
We stayed at BWI three days, in a room on the third floor right by the elevators, and after the first night, we wanted to change our room very badly. There was a loud mechanical soundalmost like a growlthat we heard every five minutes or less all night. We tried to talk to someone the next morning (the room also smelled like smoke) and they told us that the smoke smell and the mechanical sound would be taken care of. The manager ASSURED us that it was not the elevator. That day, the smoke smell was taken care of, but not the mechanical sound. We asked about it at the front desk, and the same manager said that a staff person would be checking out the sound later that evening (after 6). Well, once again, the noise was still there when we got back later that night probably around 10. We talked to a night manager about the noise, and he immediately guessed that the sound was the elevator. He told us that it bothers some peoplesometimes even five to ten rooms down from the elevatorand that it doesnt bother others. Consequently, I felt like the day manager had been putting us off. Of course, the night manager told us that there were no other rooms available with 2 queens (there were 4 adultsmy sister, my parents, and me) and he offered us a fanwhich didnt really help much. But we gave up complaining about it, since by that time, we felt wed wasted a lot of time trying to solve the problem. It was very frustrating. So, I thought I would at least warn other people about this potential problem (my mom and my sister could hardly sleep, and it occasionally woke me up as welland I dont really consider myself that light of a sleeper).
