Attire in MDRs

I did dress nicely for most of the dinners but as I walked through the dinning room I thought to myself, what is the point of dressing up...everyone is sitting down and you can't tell what other people are wearing anyways so who cares!

I think that's wrong. I was disappointed the night they turned away for dinner because I was in Jeans on formal night (on another line) but I totally understood their policy. I ate pizza on the pool deck (it was good:)

THIS would have never been tolerated by Capt. Stubing............
'sall I'm sayin' :rolleyes1

Aren't the MDR's cruise casual? The shoes wouldn't be the issues...the shorts might be. It's usual at the very least Jeans in the MDRs.

Have a great trip.
I've been on 3 cruises and shorts are fine in the dining room as long as they are like the Dockers or khaki shorts and of course not Daisy Duke cut offs. What they won't allow are baseball caps (you need to take them off at the table) baggy/low slung pants, t-shirts with vulgar phrases, etc. Basically if you've ever watched COPS, don't dress like the perps and you'll be fine.

I have a feeling I'll be the "shunned" one at the party, HA! Oh well *shrug*. I won't be in a bathing suit or tank top, but I may wear jeans with a dressy top and some wedges....
I mostly wear big flowy sundresses to dinner but I've worn jeans with sandals and a pretty top and never had a problem. Honestly when I see some of the dresses some women/girls wear to dinner, I'm shocked that they aren't carrying their stripper poles with them.

What I noticed in January on the Magic, mind you I didn't check everyone out, was generally everyone was dressed nicely for supper. Depending on the night, I personally went with black or khaki pants and a button down shirt and maybe a tie. I really haven't noticed a lot of people dressing down too far on any of our cruises. The only thing that I have noticed is not a lot of formal wear or jackets on formal night, but I am guilty there too, we stopped packing my jacket after noticing that the first thing I did when I sat down to eat was to take it off and set it on the back of my chair.

I think I'm going to skip the jacket, but still bring slacks, suspenders and a bow tie..
