We were in WDW for our Disneymoon when Tropical Storm Alberto hit and it got pretty chilly! I'd bring some long sleeve shirts and some light jackets...just in case! I know I was freezing in my shorts, tank top, and poncho in June!

Good friendly tips. I think I might actually throw a long sleeved shirt in with my stuff!

Don't forget about your foot wear. Those expensive sneakers are not going to ever dry out...we wore water shoes. So some that are waterproof are in order. Also a rain hat with a brim is good.

Okay I can understand driving in those conditions for safety purposes. However, we are talking vacation driving in potentially dangerous conditions. That I do not understand.

It's only going to be a tropical storm in FL. What's the big deal? No worse than an extended thunderstorm. And yes, I know these storms spawn tornadoes but so do thunderstorms here in NC. Heck, we've been at the beach during tropical storms here and never even bothered to pack up. So it's rainy and windy, big deal. It's not even projected to regain hurricane status. I don't consider driving through an extended rain storm to be risking life and limb to go on vacation.

For those folks in America who don't live near the coast, I can understand such angst about these storms. The weather channel and everyone else overplays the minor events to such an extent that it borders on "creating the news" not reporting it. Then, when the really big storms do hit, everyone takes them for granted and you end up with disasterous results. Ernesto is not a big deal. It's a tropical storm not a category 4 hurricane.

As of 5 pm today (Tuesday), the parks are saying they will stay open. My company is closing, tho, thinking I might grab a poncho and head over to see how short the lines get.

That just seems odd to me. We are expecting 40mph winds with 60mph gusts and 3 to 5 inches of rain. Who would be out in that?

The local schools have closed because it has been deemed that it will not be safe for buses to be on the road. It seems odd that Disney buses would be running. I'm pretty sure they won't run the monorail in those conditions.

"Hurricane" by definetion equals winds of 75+ MPH.....are you seriously asking if that wind speed is 'greater than normal'??????????????

ANY time a "hurricane" or tropical storm passed by the weather will be less than ideal!!!!...but it dosen't mean your trip will be ruinned by it!

We don't really know exactly what to expect here in Orlando until the storm is right upon us unfortunately. This storm has been extremely hard to track so far.

That being said, I run a programming center for Ticketmaster in downtown Orlando and the decision was made to close our office tomorrow. We do not want our employees out on the roads during the storm with possible spawning of tornados. They have cancelled school in all surrounding Orlando counties and most of the city of Orlando offices are closed.

That being said, it will be very nice if we only get some wind and rain....but better safe than sorry with all the events of Hurricanes over the last couple years.

Oh yeah, I admit it's odd...I confess I am half-joking, because I really expect the parks to close at the last minute, but if they do open, just imagine being able to walk onto everything.

Besides, after weathering the Summer of 04 (three weeks with no power, a tree falling on my garage), a tropical storm just sounds kind of anticlimatic.

As long as the parks are still open (they are currently scheduled to be)I will be walking around Epcot wearing shorts, a tshirt, and a poncho.
