We are moving back to Fl. and my DD is a server and is interested in getting a job possibly at one of the Restaurants at The house of the mouse. How does she get started? Where to look on open positions? Also the hiring for Planet Hollywood, Landry's, is that the same or where should she start that process?

She has about 7 or 8 years experience, with good work history only 2 jobs in 7 1/2 years, and expanded duties such as lead server, trainer ( all training for new employee's), scheduling, and others.

Any information would be greatly appreciated. :worship:

1) Her experience MIGHT get her to eat at the restaurants, not work at them.
2) All full-time server jobs are union-bid jobs.
3) And the waiting lines are 2-4 years long for the good eateries.
4) All she can do is get an hourly job at WDW and start bidding.
5) I have known folks with their names on the waiting list for over 3-years.
6) The wife knows one who waited more than 5-years for the eatey of his choice.

NOTE1: Server jobs are in high demand at WDW. Many servers easily make
$75k-$80k just in tips. Some top $120k. Thus, the waiting lines are pretty
long.

NOTE2: Non-WDW eateries hire their own Serving staff. You need to apply to
them. And, usually, the waits are just as long. She might try off-property.

How does she go about applying and becoming a union member? We thought that there would be wait. But she is willing to start the process. Does she start at Casting?

Seriously is number 1 necessary? Rude.

1) She can apply for a job on-line.
2) Once you are employed, you are eligible for union membership after 90-days.
. . . during "Traditions" orientation class, the union addresses folks
. . . this 20-min talk gives everyone the chance to learn about the union
. . . those interested can sign up then, or anytime later
3) However, to end confusion,
. . . Florida is a Right-to-Work state
. . . one does not need to join the union
. . . in fact, the vast majority of hourly WDW employees have not joined
. . . she can bid on any job, whether in the union or not
. . . yes, confusing

NOTE: I only mentioned "union bid" to show that these positions/jobs
are awarded mainly on seniority. Yes, all candidates are interviewed for
Server jobs, but to get to the interview, you must be a successful bidder,
and unfortunately, that usually takes years.

Servers that work full time at shows or VA might make that kind of money. The majority of WDW servers are PART TIME and have 2 jobs since they can only work 24 hours a week. They don't make anywhere near that amount of money. Really wish you would stop putting that information out there Rusty. It's not only misleading but it's false

Servers at WDW do not make close to the kind of money mentioned.. anyways start at casting and go from there! You can also take a look online, it gives a good idea of what they may be hiring. She should get hired given her experience and will more than likely get part time (like most wdw employees). Good luck!
